Tim Crawley grabs USCS Speedweek 2012 Round #5 win at Columbus

West Memphis, AR – June 1, 2012 – United Sprint Car Series presented by Goodyear National points leader Tim Crawley raced from his outside front row starting position past K&N Pole Position starter, Lee Sowell from Nesbit, Mississippi into the lead in turn one of the 20-lap USCS Sprint Speedweek 2012 Round #5 and into the www.RockAuto.com USCS victory lane at Columbus Speedway on Friday night. It was Crawley’s third 2012 USCS feature win. Defending series National Champion Terry Gray from Bartlett, Tennessee chased Crawley to the finish line in the runner-up spot with 2008 USCS National Rookie of the Year, Anthony Nicholson also from Bartlett, Tennessee in the K&N Filters Podium Award third place. Seventeenth starting Derek Hagar from Marion Arkansas charged into fourth place at the finish line and another young gun, Casey Rowland from Nesbit, Mississippi rounded out the top five drivers.

Seventeen year-old 2010 USCS Southern Thunder Rookie of the Year, Eric Riggins, Jr. from Charlotte, North Carolina lead the next group in sixth place. Rookie of the Year contender, Tristan Tidmore from Hernando, Mississippi followed Riggins in seventh place. 2010 USCS Mid South regional Rookie of the Year, Jerod Roller also from Hernando, Mississippi finished eighth. The 2009 USCS presented by Goodyear National Rookie of the Year, Justin Carver from Drummonds, Tennessee followed in ninth place and 2010 USCS National Rookie of the Year, Morgan Turpen from Oakland, Tennessee rounded out the top ten in the main event.

Eventual feature winner Tim Crawley kicked off the evening’s action with a trip to the www.RockAuto.com victory lane in the six-lap Goodyear Speed Dash. Tim Crawley also won the Engler Machine and Tool First Heat. Morgan Turpen won the Butlerbuilt Second Heat. Lee Sowell from Nesbit, Mississippi won the Schoenfeld Third Heat race.

For passing the most cars in the main event Derek Hagar garnered the evenings Wilwood Disc Brakes “Hard Charger” Award. Tim Crawley collected the J.E. Pistons Top Guns award that rotates from first through fifth places. Anthony Nicholson earned the K&N Filters Podium Award for his third place finish in the A-Main. Casey Rowland earned the Keizer Aluminum Wheels top Five Award and Morgan Turpen received the DMI/Bulldog Top Ten Award.
