Morgan Bagley Conquers 2024 CCSDS Cow Patty at Old No. 1
Collects $5,000 for First Win of ’24 Season

LONGVIEW, Tex. (04/07/24) – Morgan Bagley parlayed his early season momentum into a thrilling $5,000 COMP Cams Super Dirt Series Super Late Model feature win on Saturday night with his P&W Sales No. 14m Precision Trailers / FK Rod Ends / XR1 Rocket Chassis / Clements Racing Engine Super Late Model.

Bagley’s trip to the Winner’s Circle came during the 2024 edition of the Cow Patty at Old No. 1 Speedway.

“Ever since Arrowhead (Speedway) and Springfield (Raceway), and last night (Poplar Bluff Motorsports Park), things have been clicking,” Bagley said in Victory Lane on Saturday night at Old No. 1 Speedway. “Man, it’s funny, because the first handful of times I came here I struggled really bad, and then I got better, and man, we’ve been so good here every time and I felt like this might be our chance to win one.

“I’ve got some great car owners in the McMillan family, and they give me everything I need to be successful. Our team needed this win, and hopefully now that we’ve got the first one of the year out of the way we can add several more and make a run at the series (COMP Cams Super Dirt Series) title.”

Morgan Bagley capped an impressive weekend with the COMP Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS) by scoring a $5,000 victory at Harrisburg, Arkansas’ Old No. 1 Speedway on Saturday night.

Thirty-three CCSDS Super Late Models were at the quarter-mile track in northeast Arkansas when the 2024 edition of the Cow Patty event got underway. Bagley began the evening with a fourth-place result in his group qualifying session and went on to win his heat race. He started the 40-lap feature from the third position and passed front-row starter B.J. Robinson for the lead on the 27th circuit. Bagley then held off Matt Cooper as the laps clicked off to take his first feature victory of 2024.

Bagley’s victory, the seventh CCSDS triumph of his career, came by a margin of 2.396 seconds over runner-up Logan Martin. Jon Mitchell, Chandler Petty and Steve Stultz rounded out the top five.

On Friday night, Bagley also turned in a podium finish in CCSDS action at Poplar Bluff Motorsports Park in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. A total of 28 series competitors descended on the 3/8-mile speedway for the $5,000-to-win show.

After qualifying fourth quickest in his group, Bagley transferred to the 35-lap A-Main via a third-place effort in his heat. He started 12th in the feature and motored to a third-place finish, earning him the night’s MD3 Five Star Bodies Hard Charger Award even while suffering two flat rear tires as the race wound down. Bagley finished behind winner Tyler Stevens and runner-up Martin. Dillon McCowan and Cooper finished fourth and fifth, respectively.

With his finishes of first and third, Bagley now sits second in CCSDS points, just 16 markers behind Logan Martin for the top spot.

Full weekend results are available at www.COMPdirt.com .

With a one-month break now here in COMP Cams Super Dirt Series action, the team is getting their engines refreshed. Bagley is currently unsure of when his next race will be. As more dates are finalized, they’ll be added to his cyber home at www.MorganBagley.com .

Tyler Stevens Rallies for Poplar Bluff CCSDS $5,000 Triumph
Lucas Oil MLRA Spring Nationals at Lucas Oil Speedway Up Next

SEARCY, Ark. (04/07/24) – Tyler Stevens topped a spirited battle with Logan Martin to score Friday night’s COMP Cams Super Dirt Series Super Late Model feature win at Poplar Bluff Motorsports Park aboard his Keith Hammett Trucking & Construction LLC / James A. Rogers Excavating No. 2 Pitts Fuel Investments / WABAM / Longhorn by Wells Motorsports / Mod Co Racing Engine Super Late Model.

“I ran the bottom there and had (my crew guy) telling me to move up down there in (turns) one and two and it started to clean up kinda around the top,” Stevens said in Victory Lane on Friday night. “So, (I) went up there and I got a little bit tight there once getting in and Logan (Martin) got a run on me and me and him started racing pretty hard there. He was way up in (the cushion) down there and I was kind of a lane down, but if I could enter straight and keep my car straight, man it was really, really good. It’s been a long week, we did a chop, cut, rebuild and it’s definitely paying off though.

“These races are hard to win, no matter where it’s at, Super Late Model racing is tough. Anytime you can get a win, it’s definitely top tier.”

Tyler Stevens scored a hard-fought COMP Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS) win at Missouri’s Poplar Bluff Motorsports Park on Friday, earning $5,000 for his efforts in the first of a two-event weekend for the tour.

After spending the week solving some major issues with his No. 2 Super Late Model, Stevens was among 28 CCSDS competitors at Poplar Bluff on Friday evening. He turned in the fifth-quickest time in his group qualifying session on the 3/8-mile oval, then drove from third to first in his heat race. He started the 35-lap main event from the pole and paced the first 12 circuits. He relinquished the top spot to Logan Martin on the next lap but wrestled the lead back from him on Lap 27 after a spirited battle.

Stevens showed the way for the remainder of the race to score his first feature triumph of the year, taking the checkered flag 3.870 seconds in front of Martin. Morgan Bagley came home third, with Dillon McCowan and Matt Cooper rounding out the top five. Stevens' win was the fifth of his career in CCSDS competition.

The next night, the CCSDS schedule shifted to Harrisburg, Arkansas, for the $5,000-to-win Cow Patty at Old No. 1 Speedway. The event brought 33 CCSDS competitors to the quarter-mile speed plant. Stevens was sixth in his group during qualifying and finished third in his heat. He started the 40-lap feature from 11th on the grid and quickly picked up five spots. However, the car’s battery shorted out during the race, resulting in the loss of all power. Stevens ultimately came home in the 22nd position.

“We had a hot rod in the feature again on Saturday night, but a mechanical issue got the best of us and took away our chances at a win. Still a solid weekend for us, and now we are gearing up for the (Lucas Oil) MLRA openers at Wheatland (Lucas Oil Speedway),” Stevens said.

Full weekend results are at www.COMPdirt.com .

The upcoming weekend has the team headed northwest to Lucas Oil Speedway (Wheatland, Mo.) for the 11th annual Spring Nationals. The Lucas Oil Midwest Late Model Racing Association (MLRA) doubleheader posts a $7,000 top prize on Friday and a whopping $20,000 winner’s check on Saturday evening.

“I feel like we were pretty good all night - the (time trial) groups were pretty even tonight and we just barely got beat in qualifying,” quoted Winger in Schaeffer’s Oil Victory Lane on Friday night. “It is hard when you start sixth, these 40-lappers are sprints. Thanks to series promoter Ray Cook and everybody for giving us a place to race. I actually enjoy coming over here to Buckshot, it is a different place that we haven’t been to a whole lot. Thanks to all of the fans for coming out and to all of our great sponsors with Jeff Mathews Motorsports!”

Among a stout 32-car field, Winger stopped the clock third-quickest in his qualifying group which automatically secured his spot in the 40-lap main event. Quickly charging through the field from his sixth-place starting position, Ashton sailed passed race-leader David Breazeale on lap seven and led the remaining 33 circuits to secure his first-career Schaeffer's Oil Spring Nationals victory. Winger collected the $7,553 paycheck while David Breazeale and Spencer Hughes joined him on the podium.

Hoping to find Victory Lane once again on Saturday, the Mathews Motorsports team followed the series to East Alabama Motor Speedway (Phenix City, Ala.) for the $10,053-to-win Jimmy Thomas Memorial.

Picking up the victory in his heat race, Ashton started the 53-lap feature from outside row two and finished just off the podium in fourth when the checkered flag flew. He trailed Kyle Bronson, Zack Mitchell, and Garrett Smith while Dalton Cook completed the Top-5.

Mike Marlar Sweeps the Spring Thaw for $42,000 Weekend
Scores $30,000 Saturday Win; Adds $12,000 Sunday Afternoon Triumph

WINFIELD, Tenn. (04/08/24) – Mike Marlar broke out the broom over the weekend in Volunteer Speedway’s Spring Thaw with his Skyline Motorsports No. 157 / Truck Country / Bruening Rock Products / Mesilla Valley Transportation / Can-Am Auto Salvage / Petroff Towing / Longhorn Race Car Super Late Model.

Marlar won Saturday night’s $30,000 top prize before wiring Sunday afternoon’s $12,000-to-win program to complete the XR Super Series weekend sweep.

En route to his second win of the weekend on Sunday, Marlar had to turn back the advances of a hard-charging Devin Moran.

“We had a really good car there, and Devin (Moran), man, he made me work for it,” Marlar said in Victory Lane on Sunday evening. “He slid me down there and I got back by him, but that’s fun racing with Devin and his whole team. The track was awesome today, really smooth from top to bottom. Sunday, day race, you know, we raced all over pretty daggum good and had a cushion on one end and could run middle-to-bottom on the other end, so definitely a fun race and ol’ Devin had me sweating there.”

Mike Marlar returned to the driver’s seat of the Skyline Motorsports No. 157 Late Model over the weekend for a pair of XR Super Series sanctioned events at Volunteer Speedway (Bulls Gap, Tenn.).

After Friday’s opener was shifted by Mother Nature to Sunday, Mike timed in second-fastest in his qualifying group on Saturday before picking up a flag-to-flag victory in his heat race.

Starting the Spring Thaw A-Main in the fourth position, Marlar grabbed the lead on the 15th circuit after race leader Dale McDowell retired with mechanical issues, and never looked back, pacing the remainder of the 60-lapper to secure the $30,000 top prize. The win marked his fourth of the season and first of his career with the XR Super Series.

“We were in position to capitalize when Dale (McDowell) ran into trouble there, and from there this car was on point, and we got the win,” Marlar shared. “This Skyline Motorsports team is really strong, and we’re getting better every time out. Thanks to everyone who supports us and makes it all possible.”

Back at the 4/10-mile oval on Sunday, Marlar topped Ross Bailes in his heat to capturing a convincing heat win. Leading flag-to-flag in the 40-lap feature, Mike turned back a late challenge from Devin Moran to claim his second victory of the weekend and the $12,000 payday. He finished 0.806 seconds ahead of Moran with Jimmy Owens rounding out the podium.

Full results from the events are available at www.XRSuperSeries.com .

The team is currently evaluating their upcoming schedule for possible events before resuming Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series action later this month. As dates are finalized, they’ll be added to Marlar’s official website at www.MikeMarlar.com .

Big Game Motorsports and Gravel Victorious at U.S. 36 Raceway

Inside Line Promotions - COLCORD, Okla. (April 8, 2024) - Both Big Game Motorsports and David Gravel are inching closer to the coveted 100-victory mark with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series.

Gravel captured his second triumph of the season last Friday at U.S. 36 Raceway near Osborn, Mo. Winning the Wildcat Showdown gave him his 90 th career World of Outlaws win, a feat only nine other drivers have accomplished. The victorious night marked the 96 th career trip into the World of Outlaws Winner's Circle for Big Game Motorsports.

"Things are rolling good," Gravel said. "It's hard to get things rolling when you race one time a week. Racing two times last weekend was good to get into the flow of things. It was a strong weekend."

The action on Friday began with Gravel qualifying fifth quickest. He advanced from third to second place in a heat race after another competitor in front of him was caught up in an incident. Gravel ended third in the dash to start the A Main on the inside of the second row.

"We had a little bit of luck in the heat race with (Bill) Balog getting into a lapped car to move us into a dash position," he said. "And then me falling to seventh on the start of the feature. It was a terrible start and I fell to seventh right away. Luckily there was a caution and we had a complete restart.

"I settled into fourth early before I picked off third and then I got second. A few laps later Sheldon (Haudenschild) got into the lapped car. I think we could have passed him without that incident. We were gaining on him and rolling good."

Gravel inherited the lead on Lap 21 and he held the point for the final 15 laps to score the victory.

The strong weekend continued on Saturday at Arrowhead Speedway, which hosted the World of Outlaws Jason Johnson Classic. Gravel established a new track record while setting quick time during qualifying. He then won a heat race before placing sixth in the dash.

"There wasn't any passing in the dash as it was top dominant," he said. "Luckily in the feature the bottom was the place to be in turns three and four. I got to fourth right away. There was a restart and I was able to get to third. Lapped traffic came about and I got to second. Then I paced Sheldon and tried to conserve my tires. I envisioned I was going to win that race, but I wasn't able get by him."

Gravel advanced for a runner-up result, which marked his fourth consecutive top-two performance and his sixth podium of the season to push his lead in the World of Outlaws championship standings to 40 points.

Next up for the team is the World of Outlaws Spring Classic this Friday and Saturday at Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 in Pevely, Mo.

"We have a lot of confidence going into the weekend," Gravel said. "I felt we were really fast last year at the Ironman and had a nose wing fall down on us. I'm excited to get back there. This weekend is usually a lot different than it is for the Ironman so you don't know what you'll get. Hopefully we can get two nights in."

Hagar Tackling Several World of Outlaws Races to Start Season

Inside Line Promotions - COLCORD, Okla. (April 8, 2024) - Derek Hagar is planning to pilot a Paul Hart owned sprint car, affectionately known as the Sonic Blaster, approximately 15 times this year with a variety of World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series and Kubota High Limit Racing shows on the schedule.

The season began last Saturday at Arrowhead Speedway during the World of Outlaws Jason Johnson Classic.

"I felt like we were decent," Hagar said. "We're low on crew members so I was having to do everything myself. Being in a rush, I didn't have time to run air so we were rich on the motor so it wasn't running to the best of its ability in qualifying. It changed a bunch and we were way too rich."

Hagar qualified 30 th quickest and he finished where he started - eighth - in a heat race. He capped the night by advancing from 10 th to sixth place in the Last Chance Showdown, ending only two positions shy of transferring into the main event.

"We didn't qualify well or heat race well," he said. "We changed a bunch of stuff so the car would work and it was better in the LCS, but we didn't have the brakes to drive the car the way I wanted to.

"With these guys you have to be on top of your game from the time you unload. We'll regroup and get new brakes on the car this week. We got some things worked out and I feel confident going into Pevely."

The team returns to action with the World of Outlaws this Friday and Saturday at Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 in Pevely, Mo., during the World of Outlaws Spring Classic. The tentative plan is to also race with 'The Greatest Show on Dirt' the following weekend in Kentucky and Indiana.
