Randy Weaver Tabs Brandon Overton as Full-Time Driver of #116 Dream Ride

(CROSSVILLE, TENNESSEE)  Randy "Dream" Weaver and team owner Chip Stone have announced today that Appling, Georgia native Brandon Overton has been tabbed as the full-time driver of their Dream Ride effective immediately.  Randy, who has been sidelined with a serious concussion since a nasty flip on April 2 during the 'Bama Bash' at East Alabama Motor Speedway, has decided to officially retire and will now hand over the steering wheel to Overton - who will ironically make his first start in the #116 Longhorn by Weaver in this weekend's 'National 100' at the same Phenix City, Alabama venue.  Randy is the proud owner of 361 career feature victories, while he is also a 14-time Track Champion at various facilities across the Volunteer State of Tennessee and a 3-time Southern All Stars Dirt Racing Series (SAS) Champion.

"I'm not ashamed to say it, but the Lord steered me in a different direction following that flip at East Alabama and really changed the way I look at life," exclaimed Weaver earlier today via telephone.  "I am getting better from the concussion, but I am still not medically cleared to race and it's just the right time to retire.  I always said I wanted to win 350 races before I got to that point and I accomplished that mark last year, so now it's time to phase into the next chapter, which will include putting 100% of my efforts into growing the Outlaw Racing Southeast business and managing the race team."

"Fans will still see me at the race track, but in a different capacity helping our Longhorn by Weaver clients and of course overseeing the #116 team," he went on to say.  "I can't thank all of my fans, sponsors, and crew members from throughout the years enough for all of their help and support - it was a fun ride racing for those 25+ seasons!"

Since Randy's departure from the Dirt Late Model scene in early April, Jonathan Davenport occasionally subbed in the #116 seat and promptly put the Dream Ride in victory lane on six different occasions.  Now the reigns have been officially handed over to 25-year-old upstart Brandon Overton, who just completed the World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series tour fourth in the final point standings.  Brandon will turn his first competitive laps for the team from November 4-6 at East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, Alabama in the 42nd edition of the 'National 100.'  The unsanctioned mega-event will kick off with a pair of $5,000 to win preliminary programs on Friday and Saturday, while Sunday's 100-lap headliner will boast a $20,000 payday.

From there, the new-look Randy Weaver Racing team has a couple of Southern Nationals Bonus Series specials on their racing calendar later in November.  A pair of $10,000 to win events will be held on November 11-12 at Senoia Raceway in Senoia, Georgia and on November 18-19 at Boyd's Speedway in Ringgold, Georgia.  Looking ahead to 2017, a definitive decision on plans have yet to be made, but the team will start their season in Georgia and Florida during "Speedweeks."  You can keep up with Brandon and the #116 team by pointing your web browser to www.RandyWeaverRacing.com.

"We feel like Brandon is a great talent and we have the utmost confidence in him to do tremendous things in our racecars," commented Weaver.  "I wish I had the opportunity to drive this caliber of equipment when I was 25 years old and showcase my talents at an earlier age.  Brandon is excited about the chance to drive our stuff and is really enthusiastic about testing and doing everything possible to win races.  We have done some testing together already and he couldn't keep a smile off his face when he climbed out of our car.  With our package of Longhorn by Weaver cars, Cornett Ford motors, and shocks by Dream Racing Technologies, hopefully we can all keep smiling with Brandon driving our equipment for a long time!"

Sides Caps World of Outlaws Season With Charge to Top 10 at World Finals

Inside Line Promotions - CONCORD, N.C. (Nov. 1, 2016) - Jason Sides wrapped up the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series season with a charge last weekend during the Bad Boy Off Road World of Outlaws World Finals.

The season-finale event began on Thursday when Sides qualified ninth quickest for Friday's program and 18th quickest for Saturday's show at The Dirt Track at Charlotte.

"We qualified good to start out, but the second round didn't go so good," he said. "We were trying to tighten up and we made ourselves worse. It's really tough when you qualify one night and race the next night."

Sides placed fourth in a heat race to kick off Friday's race, which missed a lock-in position to the main event by only one spot.

"The left rear tire shrank two and a half inches," he said. "We got so loose. It kept wanting to spin out. That's why we missed it through the heat."

Sides ended fifth in the Last Chance Showdown to transfer into the back of the main event, in which he charged from 23rd to a 14th -place result.

"We had a good car," he said. "We just put ourselves in a hole by missing a transfer during the heat race."

The weekend concluded on Saturday with Sides maneuvering from ninth to fifth place in a heat race to garner the final lock-in position to the main event.

"We got in the show and started 18th," he said. "They had the track pretty decent. It still had a little bottom and we committed to the bottom. When someone would run in hard from the middle off they'd miss it. We'd slow down and had more gear in it to come off the corners down the straightaway to pass them. The car got so much better late. I hate that we ran out of laps. It was a good way to end everything."

Sides charged from 18th to the 10th-place result, which was his 32nd top 10 of the season. He finished ninth in the World of Outlaws championship standings.

Sides is heading to I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Ark., this Thursday through Saturday for the 29th annual COMP Cams Short Track Nationals presented by Hoosier Tires. He won the 360ci winged sprint car event in 2001.

"I've run that race a lot of times since 1994," he said. "It's always been a fun race. There's no pressure. It's fun to hang out and see everybody."

Blaney Nearly Captures World Finals Win While Racing With Heavy Heart

Inside Line Promotions - CONCORD, N.C. (Nov. 1, 2016) - Dale Blaney wrapped up his season last weekend during the Bad Boy Off Road World of Outlaws World Finals with a major part missing.

Blaney's longtime crew chief, George Fisher, passed away last week after a battle with cancer. The Mainstream Holdings, Inc., sponsored CH Motorsports team ventured to The Dirt Track at Charlotte for the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series season finale and nearly pulled off a win despite racing with heavy hearts.

"George and I are like brothers," Blaney said. "We spent 15 years together racing. He's one of my best friends in life. To lose a guy like that, who you can talk to about anything and also is your crew chief that you trust with your life … He made me a better race car driver, a better person. Life can change in a minute. We've seen that happen this year a few times. It's a tough one to take. It was hard getting in that car Friday night. He was as good of a guy and as respected of a guy you could think of. He was a hard-working, intense mechanic that loved to win races."

The team kicked off the event by setting quick time during their group for Friday's program before timing in 12th quickest for Saturday's race.

Blaney took advantage of the top qualifying performance on Friday when he won a heat race and the dash from the pole position to start the 30-lap main event on the outside of the front row.

"I took off and felt really good," he said. "Clean air is huge down there. The car feels a ton different than when you're starting 10th. I was good the first 10 laps and ok from Laps 10 to 20."

Blaney led the first 23 laps of the feature, but he knew he was in trouble when the caution came out with approximately 10 laps remaining.

"After that caution I lost a little air in the left rear tire," he said. "I felt a difference once the green came out. I felt like my left rear lost some air and it was going flat. I was worried about it blowing the first two or three laps after the restart. It finally got a little air back in it. I was hoping getting out in clean air would have helped us. Jason (Johnson) and Logan (Schuchart) had great cars."

Blaney held onto the top spot for a couple of laps after the restart before fading to a fourth-place result.

"Under the circumstances we were under my guys were awesome," he said. "We were trying to win one for our guy and we came up a little short."

The team returned to the track on Saturday for the finale. Blaney advanced from seventh to fifth place in a heat race to lock into the 20th starting position for the main event.

"We had nothing to lose," he said. "The track got a little wider and slicker. We were pretty good early. We got up to 18th to 16th to 14th to 12th. It seemed like every restart we'd gain two. The last restart I got pinned in the middle and I was the guy who was getting taken advantage of and I fell to 17th. I felt like I had a good chance to run 10th if that hadn't happened."

Blaney ended with a 17th-place result.
