Jambalaya 100 Up Next For Anthony Burroughs

Corinth, Mississippi (11/10/09) – This weekend Anthony Burroughs will make the long trip south in his #121 Mississippi 811 Inc/BHL Motorsports/Mastersbilt By Stuckey/Wall-2-Wall Racing Engine Super Late Model to Pike County Speedway in McComb, Mississippi for the Jambalaya 100.

Last weekend Anthony returned to the scene of his richest career victory as he traveled to Duck River Speedway in Wheel, Tennessee for a pair of Southern Regional Racing Series Super Late Model events.  On Friday night, November 6th, 41 Super Late Models took part in time trials, and Burroughs laid a blistering lap to earn the pole position for the feature event. At the outset of the feature, Anthony would move to the lead and would pace the field for the first 26 laps before a lapped car caused him to check up, allowing Randy Weaver to slip by for the lead.  Burroughs would chase the leaders for the next several laps before a water leak developed on the #121 forcing the team pitside to a 14th place finish.

On Saturday night, November 7th, 36 Super Late Models were on hand, and Burroughs was second fastest in his group in qualifications, which earned him the fourth starting position for the 50 lap feature.  By lap 18, Anthony moved into the second position as he began to pursue the leader.  Burroughs felt like he had a car to win the race, however the racing surface would lock down to one groove and the team had to settle for a strong second place finish.

The team will make their first ever trip this weekend, November 12th-14th to Pike County Speedway in McComb, Mississippi for the Jambalaya 100.  The event pays $5,000 to win and $700 to start for the 100 lap feature at the high-banked, clay oval.  An Open Practice is slated for Thursday night with time trials and heat race action on Friday night.  B-main events and the 100 lap finale will be held on Saturday night for the event, which will be sanctioned by the O’Reilly SUPR Super Late Model tour.  For more information on the event, please visit www.SUPRRacing.com and www.PikeCountySpeedway.com .
