Ray Cook Sweeps Events at Green Valley and Talladega; Readies for Huge Charlotte Week!
(BRASSTOWN, NORTH CAROLINA) Ray Cook and the D&R Motorsports team notched their tenth and eleventh victories of the 2009 racing season last weekend (October 29-31) in the state of Alabama! On Thursday night at the Green Valley Speedway in Glencoe, Alabama, the Southern Regional Racing Series (SRRS) sanctioned a $3,000 to win show. Ray qualified second fastest in time trials and later won his heat race to earn the outside front row starting spot in the A-Main. The Brasstown, North Carolina native later led flag-to-flag in the feature to capture the $3,000 top prize over Shane Clanton, Tony Knowles, Clint Smith, and Josh Putnam.
The Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, Alabama then took center stage on Friday evening. An unsanctioned race was held at the track deemed as the "Hornet's Nest" on Friday and a $2,000 winner's check was on the line. Ray once again timed in second fastest during the qualifying session, which placed him starting from the outside of the front row in the A-Main. The driver known as the "Tarheel Tiger" led all forty circuits in the main event, despite suffering a late race scare with a spun car, to reach victory lane ahead of Ronnie Johnson, Ronnie Lee Hollingsworth, Jonathan Davenport, and Tim Busha.
Saturday's $5,000 to win O'Reilly Southern Allstars Series (OSAS) show scheduled at the Talladega Short Track was cancelled due to inclement weather. You can view complete results from both of Ray's wins by visiting www.greenvalleyspeedway.com and www.talladegashorttrack.com.
"This has been the best year of my racing career and the Lord just continues to shower his blessings upon us," exclaimed Cook this week via telephone. "The car was flawless all weekend, but we had a couple of scares, especially late in the race at Talladega. It took everything that I could come up with to miss that spun car and I actually hit the wall while doing so. Luckily, the car didn't sustain too much damage and we were able to continue on and win the race. I just have to thank everyone associated with this D&R Motorsports team and hopefully we can enjoy another great weekend at Charlotte!"

Sam Hafertepe Jr. And Pancho’s Racing Products Looking for Success in World Finals
Daryl Turford
Sunnyvale, Texas-It is becoming more and more common to find World of Outlaws calibre drivers teaming up with Pennsylvania based sprint car teams and this weekend at The World Finals in Charlotte, NC the trend will continue as Sam Hafertepe Jr and The Pancho’s Racing Products team have formed an alliance that they hope will take them to victory lane.
“When we raced at The National Open we were approached by Tab Lawler about possibly driving The Pancho’s Racing Products #93 at Lowe’s”, explained Sam. “We talked throughout most of the evening and this seemed like an opportunity for success”.
Sam and The Plumbfast Racing Team headed to The Pancho’s Racing Products shop in New Oxford, PA following The National Open and a partnership was struck.
“We looked over and measured up the car and it turned out that they prepare a car very similar to how we do”, said Sam. “I had my guys take my seat out of the car that day and leave it with them”.
Since that time the team of Duane “Pancho” Lawler, Tab Lawler and Mike Hileman have been working tirelessly to prepare not only a brand new primary car, but a brand new back up car as well.
Sam also kept busy with some strong runs in a 360 in his home state of Texas but most impressive was his performance 2 weeks ago against The World of Outlaws at Lone Star Speedway, his home track where he tied his career best World of Outlaws finish with a 2nd place finish.
“We’re coming in to Lowe’s with a lot of momentum right now”, said Sam. “We’ve been really fast for the last few months and I really think we can keep it up and have an impressive performance for Pancho and the guys at Lowe’s”.
Sam’s weekend will begin at Lowe’s Motor Speedway Thursday night as they will take part in practice and qualifications. The following evening will be a complete racing program followed by Saturday night’s finale which will be broadcast live on SpeedTV at 8pm.
The combination will utilize a Don Ott Racing Engine, a J&J chassis, Weld Wheels, ButlerBuilt seats, Simpson Seat Belts, Hoosier Racing Tires and HRP wings.

ARCHDALE, NC (November 3, 2009)- Earl Pearson Jr. and the Bobby Labonte Racing Team will travel to the final three events of the 2009 season competing at the lowes dirt track in Concord, NC starting on Wednesday November 4th. Earl will compete in the Topless Show Down paying $10,000 to the winner on wednesday night. Earl and the team will then compete in two complete shows both paying $10,000 to the winner on friday night and then again on Saturday night at the Lowes Dirt Track. Saturday nights events will be broadcasted "Live" on SPEED Channel as the final event on the World of Outlaws Late Model Series 2009 season.
Earlier this year Earl competed at the Lowes Dirt Track winning the Colossal 100 back in April and his biggest payday of his career winning $50,000 at the WoO sanctioned event. Earl will be looking to find victory lane again this time in front of the SPEED Channel cameras, fans and friends in the state of North Carolina where the team race shop is based at in nearby Archdale, NC. These three events will be the final events Earl will compete at in 2009.
Earl completed another season on the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series in 2009 winning three events, two at Brownstown Speedway in Brownstown, IN and one win at the Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, MO. Earl would finish third in the final national series points standings behind Jimmy Owens and Scott Bloomquist the 2009 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Champion. Earl's 2009 Lucas Oil Series stats would end up with 3 wins, 12 Top 5 finishes, and 24 Top 10 ten finishes in 40 events. Earl would win the PBM Hard Charger points category in 2009 along with the Sunoco race For gas points standings on the series in 2009. Earl also set fast time 3 times and won 9 heat races on the series in 2009.
"We had a good year this year. Of course we would have liked to have won another Series Championship, but we had too many DNF's this year for whatever reason. We tried a new chassis at the beginning of the season and I just seem to be too inconsistent in the Rocket so we went back to the Mastersbilt and really started running alot better. Scott and Jimmy ran well all year and we just got too far behind to catch them. All in all it was a good year and were looking forward to going to Lowes Dirt track and finish the season hopefully with another win there", stated Earl Pearson Jr.
Earl and the Bobby Labonte Racing Team would like to thank all their sponsors in 2009 for their support including Lucas Slick Mist, Lucas Oil, Larry Wallace Engines, Mopar, Mastersbilt Race Cars, Sunoco Race Fuels, Allstar Performance, Tiger Rear End, BERT, Butlerbuilt, Hyperco, SHY, Wilwood, Sweet, TWM, Dyers Top Rods, Weld, Hoosier Tire, PRC, Wiles Driveshafts, Wrisco, Sparco, Bell, Mechanix Wear, Oakley, Coke, Dunn-Benson Racing Supply, ASI Racewear, WRT Web Designs, The Decal Source, Rick Schwallie Photography and WD Enterprises.
