Eric Cooley Set For Final NeSmith Point’s Weekend
Fulton, MS (10/13/09) – Eric Cooley will invade South Mississippi Speedway in Gulfport Mississippi this weekend in his #33c Cooley Transport/Victory Circle M1 Chassis By Moyer Crate Late Model for the final two NeSmith National Late Model Series point’s events of 2009.
Heading into this weekend’s events, Cooley has an 88 point advantage over Larry Boutwell for the top spot in the NeSmith Late Model Series standings with only the South Mississippi Speedway events remaining. Not only is Cooley pursuing his first ever National title, but he is also in pursuit of the $20,000 check that comes with the title.
“We just have to be consistent and careful this weekend. We sure don’t need anymore bad luck like we had at Talladega (broken drive shaft) two weeks ago,” commented Cooley.
This Friday and Saturday, October 16th-17th will mark the first time in the history of the NeSmith Late Model Series, where they have gone “topless” as the competitors will be in action, less their roofs. On Friday night, a complete race program will be held, which will culminate with a 40 lap, $2,000 to win event, and on Saturday night a $2,500 to win, 50 lap program will be held. Jeff Taylor Kansas Bound This Weekend
Jonesboro, Arkansas (10/13/09) –Jeff Taylor looks to return to action this weekend, October 15th-17th as he takes his 5 Mesilla Valley Transportation/Rick Lovelady Carpets/Provence Construction/Taylor Chassis Open Wheel Modified into action in the Fall Nationals at Rolling Plains Motor Speedway in Hays, Kansas.
Jeff was last slated to be in action two weeks ago at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa for the Harris Clash, which was held in conjunction with the Lucas Oil Late Model Nationals. However, a threatening forecast kept Jeff Taylor Motorsports from leaving Arkansas, and as it turned out it was a good decision as two of the three days were rained out.
This weekend, Thursday-Saturday, October 15th-17th, the team will travel to Rolling Plains Motor Speedway in Hays, Kansas for the $5,000 to win Fall Nationals. On Thursday an Open Practice Session will be held before action gets underway on Friday with heat races. Saturday night will see b-mains and the main event held. Bumper Jones powered his #111 Taylor Shaw Chassis to the $3,000 feature win in the Desert Classic at Canyon Speedway Park in Peoria, Arizona on Sunday.
Russ Reinwald picked up a feature win in his Taylor Chassis over the weekend in Wisconsin.
