PAGE TAKES THE POLE FOR THE CRUSA 16TH ANNUAL WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP RACE

COCHRAN, GA – Michael Page of Villa Rica, GA won his ten-lap heat race in the Troy Baird Racing Special on Saturday night to earn the pole position for the $20,000-to-win 16th Annual Chevrolet Performance World Championship Race for the Newsome Raceway Parts Crate Racin’ USA Dirt Late Model Series that will be held Sunday night at Cochran Motor Speedway.

The top two finishers in the six ten lap KRC Heat Races transferred into the Big Show. Page won the sixth heat to earn the pole and Zach Sise of Seymour, TN will start on the outside of Page in the front row after winning the fourth heat in the R&W Properties CVR.

Jake Rainey of Hiram, GA will start on the inside of row two in the Harrod Logging Special after winning the fifth heat race, and Dylan Knowles of Lanett, AL will start on the outside of row two after winning the second heat race in the K-Line Logistics Rocket.

Newsome Raceway Parts Crate Racin’ USA Dirt Late Model Series Co-point leader Wil Herrington of Hawkinsville, GA starts the main event from the inside of row three in 5m Construction Rocket after winning the third heat race. Ben Faircloth of Swainsboro, GA starts on the outside of third row after winning the first heat in the Sunbelt Heating and Air Special.

Mark Whitener of Middleburg, FL finished second in the sixth heat race and will start the Baker Farms Special on the inside of row four. Ahnna Parkhurst of Evans, GA drove the EZ Go Special to a second-place finish in the fourth heat race to earn the outside fourth row starting spot for the main event.

Jeremy Faircloth of Swainsboro, GA took the second spot in the fifth heat race and will start the Faircloth Forestry Service Special on the inside of the fifth row. Randy Weaver of Crossville, TN will start the B&M Concrete CVR on the outside of the fifth row after finishing second in the second heat race.

Bubba Pollard of Senoia, GA finished second in the third heat race and will start the Race Car Engineering Special on the inside of the sixth row for the Chevrolet Performance World Championship Race. Kelly Walker of Moultrie, GA starts the Lasseter Tractor Company Special on the outside of the sixth row after finishing second in the first heat race.

Drivers that finished third on back in the six KRC Heat Races, will have more opportunities to make the Big Show in preliminary races on Sunday night. They will line up in one of three KRC B-Main Races in which the top three drivers in each B-Main will fill in starting spots 13 through 21 for the World Championship Race.

The fastest qualifier that fails to transfer to the main event will earn the 22nd starting spot for the main event. Starting positions 23 and 24 are Crate Racin’ USA Provisional spots reserved for the Top 15 in points coming into the race. There will be a Non-Qualifiers Race for those that fail to transfer from the B-Main Races.

The winner of the Non-Qualifiers Races can take the $600 for winning that race, or he can start 25th in the Chevrolet Performance World Championship Race. Those Crate Racin’ USA Provisional spots will be at a premium, as nine of top 11 drivers eligible are still on the outside looking in, including the Co-point leader Cruz Skinner of Oxford, AL.

To add to the excitement of the B-Main races, Kyle Bronson of Brandon, FL, who has won the last three Chevrolet Performance World Championship Races, has entered the race and will arrive at Cochran Motor Speedway on Sunday after competing in Ohio with another series on Saturday night. If Bronson is going to win his fourth straight, he will have to tag the tail of a B-Main and race his way in with a top three finish.

In other Saturday night action, Matt Henderson of Loudon, TN was the Boyd Built Fabricators Fast Qualifier among the 55 entrants. Henderson drove the R&W Properties CVR around Cochran Motor Speedway in 15.002 seconds. Henderson crashed in the sixth heat race while battling with Page for the lead.

If Henderson’s car can be repaired and he can start a KRC B-Main race, he would be the first driver in line to earn the 22nd starting spot provision that goes to the fastest qualifier that fails to make the race through Heat Race and B-Main competition.
