Revolution Racing Wins the OneDirt World Short Track Championship

St. Augustine, Florida (10/30/17) – A last-minute decision had successful repercussions for Revolution Racing over the weekend in the second annual OneDirt World Short Track Championship.

On Thursday Blake Spencer made the call to make the weekend move from driver to team owner, when he inked a deal for Jonathan Davenport to pilot his Revolution Racing #6 QuickLane Tire & Auto Longhorn Chassis Crate Late Model at the Dirt Track at Charlotte.

The last-minute move paid big dividends as Davenport picked up the $4,000 victory.

“I’m still learning the ins and outs of Dirt Late Model racing so to have Jonathan Davenport drive the car and Kevin Rumley turn the wrenches was a no brainer for us,” Spencer commented. “It was a great weekend for our team, and I’m looking forward to getting back behind the wheel at Charlotte for the upcoming weekend’s World Finals.”

With Jonathan Davenport behind the wheel of the Bozard Ford #6 Crate Late Model, the Revolution Racing teamed headed to the Dirt Track at Charlotte (Concord, North Carolina) on Friday evening for the opening round of the OneDirt World Short Track Championship. After qualifying 29th fastest in a field of 66 entries, Davenport streaked to a heat race victory, positioning him sixth on the starting grid for the feature.

Overtaking race-leader Matt Long on lap-19 – when the leader retired with mechanical issues – Jonathan Davenport held off the field in the remaining 11 circuits to capture the $4,000 payday. Kyle Bronson, Max Blair, Benji Hicks, and Brett Hamm completed the Top 5 finishers in the 30-lap affair.

“I have to thank Blake Spencer and Letti Bozard for giving me this opportunity. Heath, his crew guy, called me and gave me this opportunity,” said Davenport. “I’m just glad to get back in one of these Longhorns and get the feel of it.”

“I think Matt was the class of the field there,” added Davenport. “He was pretty good, and I don’t know if I could have got him in the traffic, but it is what it is. His misfortune was my fortune.”

The upcoming weekend – November 2-4 – will see Blake Spencer back in the driver’s seat as he enters the annual Textron Off Road World Finals at the Dirt Track at Charlotte. The World of Outlaws (WoO) Craftsman Late Model Series opens with two rounds of qualifying on Thursday evening. Friday and Saturday will be headlined by a pair of $12,000-to-win events.

Sides Enters World Finals in Tight Battle for Top 10 in World of Outlaws Standings

Inside Line Promotions - BARTLETT, Tenn. (Oct. 30, 2017) - Jason Sides is in a tight points battle entering the final World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series event of the season.

Sides is only four points out of 10th place in the championship standings entering the Textron Off Road World Finals, which is this Thursday through Saturday at The Dirt Track at Charlotte in Concord, N.C. He's placed in the top 10 of the standings in six of the last eight seasons.

"You go in there knowing it's the last race and you need to do well," he said. "I have to run really good, but at least be in front of Brent (Marks) both nights."

The event features a unique format as Thursday is qualifying night, when time trials are run for the shows on Friday and Saturday.

"Qualifying is more important than anything because you have so many cars," he said. "When you qualify it's for each night, which is two different nights. You'll qualify on a night when the track is hard, dry and slick. With us qualifying early in the night the first session is usually ok. By the second time we go out the track is hard and slick. You really need to be on your game to get the best qualifying effort you can.

"They've done a good job of keeping the track together all weekend. Usually they have a good top and a bottom and it's pretty racey. We've run decent there before. We were leading once and got jacked up by a lapped car and Paul McMahan got by. Hopefully we can put together a good weekend with solid results that will move us back into the top 10 of the standings."

Sides earned a career-best runner-up result during the event in 2013. He's also placed second at the track in 2009 and he has five top fives and 15 top 10s there dating back to 2007.

Swindell Wrapping Up Season This Weekend at World Finals With World of Outlaws

Inside Line Promotions - GERMANTOWN, Tenn. (Oct. 30, 2017) - Sammy Swindell and car owner A.G. Rains have made big gains on their 410ci winged sprint car program this season.

Despite only competing in a handful of 410 events, the team has closed the gap on the competition after not making a 410 start until July.

"We went from being a good eight tenths (of a second) off to down to about a quarter of a second off the last race," Swindell said. "In our heat we were even closer than that before we had the driveline failure. I think we've come a long way."

That's a good sign as Swindell and Rains are slated to wrap up the 2017 season this Thursday through Saturday at The Dirt Track at Charlotte in Concord, N.C., for the Textron Off Road World Finals with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series.

"We're making some changes on the motor and we definitely made a big improvement on it the last time we ran it," Swindell said. "Hopefully we take another step forward. If everything is a positive I'm looking to have a good run over there."

Swindell won the World Finals finale in 2012 and he's posted podium finishes during the marquee event in 2011 and 2010.

"It's a place where you have to carry a lot of momentum and be on a fine line," he said. "You have to be real smooth because the track is almost a circle. If you can get your car to roll around there where you don't have to do much with the throttle or steering input you can make up some time there."

SEASON STATS -

43 races, 8 wins, 16 top fives, 25 top 10s, 27 top 15s, 31 top 20s
