Devin Dixon Digs Deep to Claim Chevy Performance Championship

Ocala, Florida (09/05/17) – To say that it’s been a trying season for Devin Dixon and the Big Frog Motorsports team would be a giant understatement. From mechanical failures to random bad luck on the track, the team has truly seen a little bit of everything go array in 2017.

However, over the weekend the team’s fortune experienced a definite improvement as Dixon claimed both the Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series championship and rookie of the year title in the Big Frog Motorsports #58 Rocket XR1 entry.

“I’m not going to lie – a few weeks ago we were all pretty much ready to thrown in the towel,” said Big Frog Motorsports’ Augie Burttram. “It just seemed that the cards were terminally stacked against us. However, none of us gave up, and it’s really fulfilling to know that the end result is the overall championship.”

For Dixon being able to win both titles was a career moment.

“We set out with some definitive goals this season, and this weekend we were able to make two of them a reality,” Dixon noted. “There’s no quit in this team, and we’ll spend the rest of the season pursuing our other goal, which is to win races.”

The finale weekend for the 2017 campaign of the Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series took the team to Georgia for a pair of Labor Day weekend showdowns. On Saturday night the action came to life at Dixie Speedway (Woodstock, Georgia), where Dixon finished in the 9th-position in the $2,000-to-win, 30-lap finale.

With his performance on Saturday evening, he found himself just a few markers behind Austin Smith for the top spot in the championship battle heading into Sunday night’s event at Rome Speedway (Rome, Georgia).

Preliminary action positioned Dixon starting 6th on the grid for the 100-lap, $10,000-to-win feature event. He would go on to advance to a 4th-place finish behind race winner, Riley Hickman, Ronnie Johnson and Michael Page.

The finish was enough to allow him to take the series title and the rookie title.

Next on tap for the team is a trip to Virginia Motor Speedway (Jamaica, Virginia) on September 16 to take part in the FASTRAK World Championship. The event posts a $20,000 top prize. For more information on the race, please visit www.VaMotorSpeedway.com .

Jesse Lowe Pushes 2017 Win Total to 20

Crossville, Tennessee (09/05/17) – The Labor Day weekend found Jesse Lowe increasing his 2017-win tally to 20 behind the wheel of his Xtreme Pressure Washing #5j Hampton Backhoe Service CVR Late Model.

After Mother Nature wiped out his plans on Friday night at Crossville Raceway (Crossville, Tennessee), Jesse Lowe headed to Duck River Raceway Park (Wheel, Tennessee) on Sunday evening for the Labor Day weekend Late Model Extravaganza. Following the fourth-fastest time in qualifying, Lowe captured a heat race win, earning him the pole position for the A-Main. Outrunning the 18-car field in the 25-lap feature, Jesse Lowe charged to his 20th win of the season, topping Tyler Wood, Steven Holcomb, Clint Nichols, and Chase Walls at the finish line.

Monday night brought Lowe to I-75 Raceway (Sweetwater, Tennessee), where he posted the third-fastest qualifying time in field of 10 Crate Late Models. After battling for the lead in the feature, Jesse suffered a flat-tire sending him into the infield pit area. Rejoining the field from the tail, Jesse Lowe worked his way up to a 3rd-place finish, trailing Kyle Courtney and Johnny Ridings across the finish line with Ryan Tims and Brian Selby completing the Top-5 finishers.

“It wasn’t a bad weekend at all for us,” Lowe recalled. “We were a little off early in the night at I-75 Raceway, so we took a big swing at it with a change in setup for the feature. We had a much better car in the feature, and had a solid run going until we cut a tire down. Overall, I can’t complain though.”

Jared Miley ready for first-ever World 100

By Fully Injected Motorsports:

PITTSBURGH, PA (September 5, 2017) - For the first time in his career, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania’s Jared Miley will make the early September tow to Eldora Speedway, ultimately working to earn a starting position in what is undoubtedly the most prestigious dirt late model event in the country. The 47th Annual World 100, awarding a cool $50,000 in 2017, will feature the nation’s elite. The best dirt late model drivers in the country will battle for three days at the World’s Greatest Dirt Track, all headlined with the 100-lap blockbuster on Saturday evening, September 9.

“Our goal is to travel west to Eldora Speedway and represent Western Pennsylvania well,” Jared Miley explained, pilot of the Jared Miley Racing/Jay’s Auto Wrecking/Brougher’s Machine Shop/No. H1. “We’ve been to Eldora in the past, but never for a crown jewel event, so we are really excited for this experience. We’ll be racing against the highest level all weekend. The goal is to take things one day at a time and put ourselves in a solid position for Saturday night. Making the World 100 starting lineup is going to be a task in itself, but we are more than ready for the opportunity and the challenge.”

Complete with three, full programs, World 100 weekend will kick start officially on Thursday evening, September 7, with a preliminary program comprised of qualifying time trials, heat races and twin, 25-lap features each awarding $10,000. A second preliminary program will be conducted on Friday evening, September 8, once again featuring a split field and double features awarding $10,000. Preliminary program results will help set the heat race lineups for the Saturday night finale.

“It’s a unique format that requires you to be perfect every time you are on the track,” Miley said. “You can’t afford to bury yourself early. If we want to be in a prime position on Saturday, we have to be able to perform on Thursday and Friday. We’ve been preparing for this trip for a long time, so we are definitely going to take advantage of every lap we have on the race track.”

Jared Miley will enter the weekend as a five-time winner during super late model competition in 2017, most recently scoring a Buckeye Late Model Dirt Week victory at the Muskingum County Speedway in Zanesville, Ohio. Other victories include the Mike Farr Memorial at Eriez (PA) Speedway, as well as a $3,000 ULMS Series victory at Thunder Mountain (PA) Speedway.

In addition to his impressive regional win list, accumulating 19 victories during the last three seasons, the 31-year-old has also been competitive on the national level which includes a top-ten performance during Lernerville Speedway’s Firecracker 100 preliminary in late-June. Miley was well on his way to a first-ever World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series victory at Eriez Speedway in late-August when poor luck stepped in and interfered; spinning to a stop while leading with two circuits remaining.

“We’ve been having a really solid season. This is most definitely a family deal. I wouldn’t be where I am today without their help and dedication,” Miley stated. “We’ve been consistent and we’ve been showing a lot of speed this year. We’re just going to keep doing what we’ve been doing.”

"The race track was one lane in the heat races," he said. "We barely made it in without having to run a B Main. The race track played into our favor in the feature. We came up through there. We were within the top 10 in the first eight laps. Toward the end I noticed I was catching Jonathan Cornell and Terry McCarl. We got up to third and was making a run at them. Lapped traffic was just fast enough in the line I was wanting to run so it stalled me out. We settled for third and locked ourselves into Sunday's feature redraw. I didn't want to do anything crazy and knock ourselves out."

Hagar, who also netted a $200 bonus for winning the dash, finished third and earned a spot in Sunday's feature redraw. He pulled the No. 3 during the random redraw to start the main event on the inside of the second row.

"We got up to second right off the bat and was underneath (Brian) Brown," he said. "Cornell got around me up top. I moved up there and followed him for a while. I made a couple of runs through the middle. I think I showed my cards too early. He moved down and we rode in third for the longest time. We hung with them. I just couldn't make a move."

Hagar placed third, which was his 24th top five of the season.

Hagar will compete in both his sprint car and midget this Saturday at I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Ark., with the ASCS Mid-South Region and POWRi Lucas Oil West Midget Series.

"I'm pretty excited about doing double duty," he said. "It's always exciting to get back in a midget. I'm looking forward to it. We've had some good runs at I-30 this year with the sprint car so hopefully we can contend for another win."

Saturday will mark Hagar's third start of the season in a midget. He has earned a win and a runner-up result during two sprint car starts at the quarter-mile track this season.
