DURRENCE LAYNE WEEKLY RACING SERIES WEEK 11 PREVIEW

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

               CARTERSVILLE, GA – Week 11 of the 27-week 2018 Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series season will feature 18 events over three days in seven different states that include Nebraska, Kansas, Louisiana, Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama and Georgia. There will be five Friday night race, a dozen races on Saturday night, and one Sunday night event.

              There will be point races during Week 11 action for the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division, the Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock Division, the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division, and the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division.

            Columbus Speedway in Columbus, MS will host the Late Models, the Street Stocks, and the Late Model Sportsmen on Friday night. Hattiesburg Speedway in Hattiesburg, MS has Friday night action scheduled for the Late Models and the Street Stocks. Moulton Speedway in Danville, AL has the Street Stocks and the Late Model Stocks on Friday night.
           
            The Street Stocks will be on the card on Friday night at Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS with the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National Tour in the “Rumble On The Gumbo.” Oglethorpe Speedway Park in Savannah, GA will host the Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series Late Model Division on Friday night.
           
            Three tracks will have all four Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series Divisions in action on Saturday night. Camden Speedway in Camden, TN, North Alabama Speedway in Tuscumbia, AL, and Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL will each have the Late Models, the Street Stocks, the Late Model Sportsmen, and the Modified Sportsmen in competition.
           
            ECM Speedway in Arkadelphia, AL and Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS will each host the Late Models, the Street Stocks and the Late Model Sportsmen on Saturday night. Chatham Speedway in Chatham, LA, Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, MS and Winchester Raceway Park in Winchester, TN will each present the Late Models and the Street Stocks on Saturday night.
           
            Salina Speedway in Salina, KS moves to Saturday nights this week with the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division in action, and Junction Motor Speedway in McCool Junction, NE will also host the Late Models this Saturday night. Flomaton Speedway in Flomaton, AL and Needmore Speedway in Norman Park, GA will each present the Street Stocks this Saturday night.
           
            Dawson County Raceway in Lexington, NE will host the lone Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series event on Sunday night featuring the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division in action.
           
            Sid Scarbrough of Florence, MS leads the Late Model National point standings over Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS by 13 points, 489 to 476. Steve Russell of Pontotoc, MS is third with 463 points and Tim Dees of Meridian, MS is fourth with 434 points. The 2012 National Champion Chase Washington of Houlka, MS is fifth with 432 points.
           
            Lee Ray of Columbus, MS leads the Street Stock National standings with 480 points, and Bryan Fortner of Millport, AL is six points back in second with 474 points. Ricky Idom of Hattiesburg, MS is third with 448 points, Steve Maughan is fourth with 437 points, and Michael Blount of Sumrall, MS is fifth with 432 points.
           
            Tody Ratcliff of Meridian, MS is the point leader in the Late Model Stock Division with 454 points, followed by Brandon Crosby in second with 438 points, Bryson Mitchell of Russellville, AL in third with 412 points, Blake Ray is fourth with 380 points, and Chace Pennington is fifth with 367 points.
           
            Andy Davis is the new National point leader in the Modified Sportsman Division with 311 points. Chris Yarbrough is second with 274 points, and Justin Angle of Anniston, AL is third with 273 points. Ron Bailey is fourth with 268 points, and Oakley Gillespie rounds out the top five with 227 points.
           
              Drivers in the Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series compete for both a track point fund and a National point fund during a 27-week season that will run through September 30. A driver’s best 14 weekly point totals will count as their National points total. The top ten drivers in each of the four Divisions will be honored at the Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series National Awards Banquet at the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame in Dawsonville, GA.

              The Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division race cars are powered by either the 400 horsepower aluminum-head, steel block Chevrolet Performance 604 Circle Track Engine, or the 350 horsepower steel-head, steel-block Chevrolet Performance 602 Circle Track Engine. 

            The Chevrolet Performance 602 Circle Track Engine is the engine of choice in the Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock Division, and the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division. The Chevrolet Performance 602 Engine is the required engine in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division.
