Jimmy Elliott Takes Over NeSmith Winter Shootout Series Point Lead
Smoky Mountain Speedway Double Shot Up Next

Cleveland, Tennessee (02/28/18) – On the heels of a trio of strong performances over the weekend in his Car Smart Auto Sales #J39 Elliott’s Tire Center/ Mighty Muffler/ Longhorn Race Car, Jimmy Elliott has taken a commanding lead in the NeSmith RockAuto.com Winter Shootout standings.

“Bubba Raceway Park is a really tough place, and there’s really nowhere else like it so you have to be on your toes,” Elliott commented regarding the weekend’s events. “Throw in 50 or so of the top Crate Late Model racers in the country and a little bad luck at times on our part, and it made for a really challenging weekend. However, we were able to rise to the challenge and come away with three strong runs and the series point lead.”

Thursday evening brought Jimmy Elliott to Bubba Raceway Park (Ocala, Florida) for the opening night of the NeSmith RockAuto.com Winter Shootout-sanctioned Bubba Army Winter Nationals.

In a field of 51 Crate Late Models, Elliott logged the 12th-fastest time in his qualifying group, transferring him into the B-Main. Transferring the Top-5 finishers into the opening night feature, Jimmy came up one spot shy with a fourth-place finish. Jimmy utilized a provisional to start on the tail of the A-Main, Elliott advanced 15 positions in the 40-lap affair, reeling in a ninth-place finish.

On Friday evening – after suffering a broken right-rear rotor and caliper in hot laps –  Elliott qualified 17th-fastest time in his qualifying group, sending him into the B-Main. Transferring the Top 5 out of the B-Main, Elliott charged to a runner-up finish behind Kevin Maher, which locked him the 18th-starting position for the feature. With $2,000 on the line, Jimmy Elliott improved six spots to finish 12th.

Wrapping up the Bubba Army Winter Nationals on Saturday with the 14th annual Chevrolet Performance World Championship, Elliott followed up the fastest time overall in his group with a runner-up finish in his heat. Rolling off eighth for the $10,000-to-win finale, Jimmy dropped one spot in the 100-lap affair registering a ninth-place finish.

Jimmy is currently leading the NeSmith RockAuto.com Winter Shootout point standings.

Blake Hahn Opening Season This Weekend In Mississippi With USCS

Bryan Hulbert - SAPULPA, Okla. (February 28, 2018) With final touches going on the Griffith Truck and Equipment/Pizza Express No. 52, Blake Hahn is set to hit the road for the first time in 2018 with two new tracks on the horizon on Friday, March 2 at Hattiesburg Speedway (Hattiesburg, Miss.) and March 3 at Magnolia Motor Speedway (Magnolia, Miss.) with USCS.

"I'm just excited to get back on the road," stated Hahn who spent the off-season tweaking the overall setup of both car and team.

On that subject, Blake added, "We always go out for the win, but with the adjustments we have made through the off-season, we'd rather take a weekend and make sure we are moving in the right direction before we start our run with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series at Devil's Bowl Speedway on March 16 and 17."

While the weekend is about testing more than anything, new tracks tend to be in Hahn's favor. A trend he hopes stays true.

"It's funny, most of my wins with ASCS have been at new tracks for some reason. Even last year, we picked up wins at Crossville Speedway and Diamond Park Speedway in our first visits so we're hoping that continues this weekend. That would be a major confidence boost going into the start of our season," stated Hahn.

The 2018 season is Blake Hahn's 16th year of racing. Starting in Jr. Sprints at the Tulsa Shootout, Hahn has progressed through the ranks with over 90 victories across Micros, Midgets, and Sprint Cars. Wednesday's With Wayne: Southern Raceway Podiums

Bryan Hulbert - MILTON, Fla. (February 28, 2018) Wrapping up the month of February in Florida, Wayne Johnson and the TwoC Racing/Outlaw Wings entry was in action with USCS at Southern Raceway in Milton, Fla. on Friday, February 23 and Saturday, February 24 with the team picking up back-to-back third-place finishes at the three-eighths-mile oval.

Advancing through Friday's Heat Race to start fifth, Johnson raced to third in the late stages of the A-Feature with Matt Covington and race leader, Terry Gray, in sight.

"We were rolling pretty good and I feel like I should have won Friday, but the way the track was, it was just hard to pass," commented Wayne. "I actually got past [Matt] Covington on the outside through one and two for second at one point and just didn't get whoaed up enough in three and four and slid up. I felt like if I hadn't missed that, I could have run Terry [Gray] down."

Hitting the ground running on Saturday night, Wayne tore through his Heat Race to win from the seventh starting spot. Into the A-Feature starting fourth, the track didn't change as much as Wayne had anticipated, but

"They worked on the track and gave us a nice racing surface and it actually ended up staying longer than I thought it was going to be so we ended up getting the car too tight in the feature," stated Wayne. "At the start, it wasn't too bad, but there at the end, I was just hanging on. Once the fuel load came off, the car started getting over on the right front but all in all, it was good. We're learning a lot, and that's way we came down here so we're ready to go this season."

Looking ahead, the plans for the weekend find Wayne pointed west to Hattiesburg Speedway (Hattiesburg, Miss.) on Friday, March 2 and Magnolia Motor Speedway (Columbus, Miss.) on Saturday, March 3 with USCS.
