Tyler Erb Wins $2,500 with MSCCS at Whynot Motorsports Park
Resumes WoO Title Pursuit this Weekend in Illinois

New Waverly, Texas (03/26/18) – While Mother Nature may have altered Tyler Erb’s weekend plans, it couldn’t keep him from taking his First Class Septic #91 New Point Lighting and Design/ XR1 Rocket Chassis/ Clements Racing Engine Super Late Model to Victory Lane for the second-straight week.

With a $2,500 triumph at Whynot Motorsports Park on Saturday night, Erb registered his second Mississippi State Championship Challenge Series (MSCCS) win in as many weeks.

“The past year or so the state of Mississippi has been really good to me,” Erb said. “We came up a little bit short at Columbus (Speedway) on Friday night, but on Saturday night at Whynot (Motorsports Park) we had a great car and we were able to get another 'W.' I want to thank my family, my crew, my sponsors, and all of my fans for continuing to support my racing program.”

After Mother Nature postponed the World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series’ Illini 100, Tyler Erb made the decision to head to Mississippi for a pair of weekend special events.

Action opened at Columbus Speedway (Columbus, Mississippi) on Friday evening with the Mud Bug Classic. With 24 Super Late Models on hand for the Mississippi State Championship Challenge Series (MSCCS) sanctioned program, Erb laid down the fastest-time overall in qualifying before picking up the dash victory. Rolling off from the pole position for the feature, Tyler slipped one spot in the finale to finish in the runner-up spot behind Rusty Schlenk with Michael Arnold, Tanner English, and Brian Rickman completing the Top-5 finishers.

The following night in a field of 26 cars at Whynot Motorsports Park (Meridian, Mississippi), Tyler locked his spot into the $2,500-to-win A-Main with the second fastest qualifying time. From his front-row starting spot for the feature, Erb jumped into the lead on the opening lap and held the top spot for the entire distance to capture his fifth win of the season and a $2,500 payday. Chad Thrash, Brian Rickman, Rusty Schlenk, and Rick Rickman rounded out the Top-5.

Skylar Gee Charges With Lucas Oil ASCS At The Devil's Bowl Spring Nationals

Bryan Hulbert - MESQUITE, Texas (March 25, 2018) Skylar Gee's start to the 2018 season with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by Sawblade.com at the 45th Devil's Bowl Spring Nationals didn't take long to find speed as the Strongs Crane Sales and Repair No. 99 ended the evening with a charge from 18th to fourth.

"The car was good in the Heat, but we just couldn't seem to move anywhere," commented Gee on the start of his night. "We made a few changes for the B-Main and it kept getting better so we didn't change much for the feature."

Running from fourth to second in the B-Feature, Skylar made every lap count with each revolution bringing him closer to the front of the field.

"Bryan [Sundby] said to just keep working at it and keep digging and it'll come in, and sure enough, around Lap 18 the car just came in and kept getting better and better. Pretty soon we were right there in the mix. I just wish we had been able to start near the front."

One of the first drivers to really find the center groove coming in, Skylar explained that he found the line while racing with Chris Martin.

"When I was trying to get in front of the No. 44, I tried to slide him a few times and I wasn't having to go all the way to the curb to keep pace. The track was starting to take a little rubber at the entrance of turn one, and the exit of turn four so I just starting cheating the corners every lap and found it."

The night's CP-Carrillo Hard Charger of the Night, it was a great way to start the season and cap off his 19th Birthday.

"It was a great result and everything worked great with the new team."

While the weather will dictate Skylar's next race, the current plan is to make his way to 81-Speedway for the Air Capital Shootout with NCRA on March 30 and 31.

Struggles Continue for Blount Motorsports at Boyd’s

MARYVILLE, Tenn. (Mar. 26) When you are struggling everything seems to go wrong that can go wrong and that’s what happened during Friday night’s Lucas Oil Shamrock at Boyd’s Speedway when the Blount Motorsports Team didn’t make the show.

“We weren’t great, but we weren’t as bad as we looked either,” said David Bryant. “I made bad decisions all night long and Casey (Roberts) and the team paid the price.”

After starting seventh and finishing sixth in the first heat they lined up third in the B-Main.

“Casey got crossed up and the right side of the car got tore up when the two ahead of him in the B-Main wrecked and he was collected,” continued Bryant. “We knew we didn’t have a chance to win it, but we should have made the race.

Somebody said if racing was easy everyone would be doing it. When you get in one of these rough patches I guarantee you it ain’t easy.”

The Team, hoping to turn things around, will head to Senoia Speedway for a Thursday night practice before  the weekend’s two races that will kick off this years Spring Nationals.

Blount Motorsports enjoys sponsorship from Stowers (CAT) Machinery Corp., Arnold Trucking, Blount Excavating, Massey Electric, Tennessee RV, Turner Hydraulics, Ole Ben Franklin Motors, Food City, and The Wine and Spirits Cellar.

BMS races Rocket XR1 Chassis. Power is provided by Vic Hill Racing Engines with Dyer’s Top Rods, Driven Racing Oil, Waterman Fuel Pumps, VP Race Fuels and starting power from Go Lithium batteries. Gauges and wiring harnesses from QuickCar. Drive train components are from Quarter Master with Carbon Fiber drive shafts from Fastshafts. Rico Abreu charges to eleventh with World of Outlaws at Bakersfield Speedway

Rico Abreu charges to eleventh with World of Outlaws at Bakersfield Speedway

Silver Dollar and Placerville on deck

Dates: March 24th
Event: World of Outlaws at Bakersfield Speedway
Series: World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series
Track: Bakersfield Speedway (Bakersfield, Calif.)
Rico Abreu A-Main Finish (Start): 11th (23rd)

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (March 26, 2018) - Rebounding in impressive fashion, St. Helena, California's Rico Abreu mounted a charge and advanced 12 positions on Saturday night with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series, moving ahead from the inside of row 12 to finish 11th on an elbows-up Bakersfield Speedway in Bakersfield, Calif., on Saturday, March 24.

Although impressive, the pilot of the Abreu Vineyards/Lucas Oil/Rhino Wipe/Alpinestars/Priority Aviation/No. 24 sprint car was forced to do things the hard way all evening at Bakersfield Speedway, missing an A-main qualifying position during heat race competition by two spots (7th), ultimately forced to race the evening's Last Chance Showdown. Abreu would go on to finish third during the 12-lap contest, moving ahead from the inside of row three to do so.

“That was a lot of fun,” Rico Abreu explained. “The evening didn't start out too well, but we made the most of it and rebounded big time during the feature. That style of track really fits me well. It slicked off for the most part with a few ruts and bumps and a curb on top. You can make up a lot of ground in a hurry there, or you can lose it. We were able to put together a solid run and take advantage of every lap. We'll take this positive momentum and move forward.”

Rico Abreu will continue his 2018 campaign with a pair of 360 cubic inch sprint car starts in California during Easter weekend. Abreu's holiday doubleheader will ignite on Friday evening, March 30, at the Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, followed by a $2,500-to-win, Elk Grove Ford Sprint Car Challenge Tour presented by Abreu Vineyards event at Placerville (Calif.) Speedway on Saturday, March 31.

Abreu is a recent winner during Sprint Car Challenge Tour competition in the Golden State, earning a victory on April 21, 2017, at the Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare. Nearly sweeping the evening program, Abreu recorded the fifth fastest time during qualifying time trials, followed by a heat race victory and ultimately the main event win.

On a special note, the Rico Abreu Racing merchandise van will be present at each of the upcoming events and will be parked in the designated vendor areas.

Donny Schatz rallies fifteen positions for top-ten at Bakersfield

Dates: March 24th
Event: World of Outlaws at Bakersfield Speedway
Series: World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series
Track: Bakersfield Speedway (Bakersfield, Calif.)
Donny Schatz A-Main Finish (Start): 6th (21st) / KSE Hard Charger Award

World of Outlaws Championship Standings (as of 3/24): 1st - 1142 points (34-point margin over second place, Sheldon Haudenschild)

BROWNSBURG, Ind. (March 26, 2018) - Nine-time and defending World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series champion, Donny Schatz, displayed perseverance during his visit to Bakersfield Speedway with the Greatest Show On Dirt on Saturday evening, earning not only a top-ten finish, but doing so from the eleventh row.

Schatz, pilot of the Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing/Textron Off Road/Ford Performance/Curb Records/Sage Fruit/No. 15 winged sprint car, finished sixth at the Bakersfield bullring, climbing 15 positions in 35 laps to record his seventh World of Outlaws top-ten finish in eight starts. The Fargo, N.D., native qualified for the $10,000-to-win main event by winning the Last Chance Showdown, forced to enter the 12-lap consolation race after finishing sixth during his respective heat race. Schatz started the evening by recording the fourth fastest time overall during qualifying time trials.

Despite starting near the back of the field, Schatz made progress in a hurry, mastering all lanes of the slick, but racey Bakersfield Speedway surface. Already within striking distance, a late caution with six laps remaining helped set up Schatz's top-ten surge, climbing from 11th at the caution break to finish sixth, officially. The climb was enough to solidify the KSE Hard Charger Award.

“This just goes to show what this team is capable of doing. My team gave me a great car and we were able to make some progress despite starting that far back,” Donny Schatz explained. “The night didn't start out the way we would have liked it, but we bounced back and earned a top-ten. You have to take your time and be patient on a surface like that. You never want to panic and put yourself in bad situations. We'll take this and move on to the next one.”

Donny Schatz and Tony Stewart Racing will have Easter weekend off before returning to World of Outlaws competition on Saturday, April 7, for the Arizona Desert Shootout at Arizona Speedway in Queen City, Arizona. Schatz, who is the current World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series point leader, finished sixth during his Arizona Speedway start in 2017, advancing from row five to do so.
