Cory Hedgecock Opens 2017 with a Bang

Loudon, Tennessee (01/31/17) – On the heels of a banner season in 2016, the defending NeSmith Dirt Late Model Series Champion opened the 2017 campaign with a $1,500 victory in his Cushman #23 Eagle Racing Engines Crate Late Model.

Cory Hedgecock opened the 2017 season on Saturday night at Boyd’s Speedway (Ringgold, Georgia) with the annual Cabin Fever 40. Competing in a field of 47 Crate Late Models, Hedgecock posted the 2nd-fastest time overall during qualifying, putting him on the front row for the main event.

Waiting for the right time to make his move to the front, Hedgecock slipped by race-leader Kyle Courtney near the halfway point of the 25-lapper to secure the top spot. Slicing his way through lap-traffic to hold the field at bay, Cory Hedgecock charged to his first victory of the season with Courtney, Lamar Scoggins, Chip Brindle, and Riley Hickman rounding out the Top 5.

“I just had to bide my time early in the race to get to the lead, but the car was awesome,” said Hedgecock. “I want to thank all of my new sponsors and returning sponsors for making this victory possible. Hopefully we can do it again next week at East Alabama.”

Tyler Clem Finishes 5th in Chevrolet Performance World Championship

St. Petersburg, Florida (01/31/17) –  14-year-old, Tyler Clem powered his Bubba Army #14 K&N Filters/Rocket Chassis Late Model to a 5th-place finish in Sunday’s $10,000-to-win Chevrolet Performance World Championship at Bubba Raceway Park.

On Thursday night Tyler Clem kicked off the 2017 season at his home-track, Bubba Raceway Park (Ocala, Florida) in the opening round of the annual Bubba Army Winter Nationals. Drawing 41 Crate Late Models for the three-day NeSmith RockAuto.com Winter Shootout sanctioned weekend, Clem earned the 15th-starting position for the opening night A-Main after timing in 8th fastest in his qualifying group. Slipping three spots in the 40-lapper, Tyler logged an 18th-place finish.

In a field of 44 cars on Friday, Clem registered the 13th-fastest time in his qualifying group, which relegated him to the B-Main. Sending the Top 6 into the $2,000-to-win, preliminary feature, Tyler landed a runner-up finish behind Rambo Franklin. Starting in 11th, Tyler Clem jumped up three positions, notching an 8th-place finish at the checkered flag.

Saturday night’s Chevrolet Performance World Championship was postponed to Sunday afternoon after Bubba Raceway Park received afternoon rain along with an unfavorable evening forecast. Earning the 20th-starting spot for the $10,000-to-win finale, Tyler Clem charged through the field 16 spots in the 100-lapper, posting an impressive 4th-place finish behind Kyle Bronson, Brandon Sheppard, and Mike Pegher Jr. with Hudson O’Neal coming in 5th.

“We got better and better as the weekend went along, and it really showed in the 100 lapper on Sunday,” said Clem. “To have such a strong run against such a talented field of competitors gives me a lot of confidence and excitement for this season.”
