DURRENCE LAYNE RACING MOURNS THE PASSING OF SANDY ROGERS HOLT

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

CARTERSVILLE, GA – On this morning of May 29, 2018, all of us at Durrence Layne Racing lost a very valued friend and colleague. Our Administrative Director Sandy Rogers Holt passed peacefully in her sleep at 1:30 a.m. this morning after a short but courageous battle with a very rare form of cancer that only nine other people in the world are known to have. She was 67-years-old.

Sandy was a key member of our Durrence Layne Racing team, as she handled all of the memberships and driver points for two Touring Divisions and four Weekly Racing Series Divisions. She handled her duties with the utmost in professionalism and dedication.

“Our hearts are broken today with the passing of Sandy Rogers Holt,” Durrence Layne Racing Founder and CEO Mike Vaughn said. “Sandy was more than an employee of Durrence Layne Racing, she was like a family member. We have lost a valued professional and friend. She will be missed by everyone involved with Durrence Layne Racing.”

Dedication and passion for motorsports best described Sandy. She was a native of Little Rock, AR, who settled in Phenix City, AL. Outside of racing, Sandy worked at Columbus Mills, Inc. as an Administrative Assistant. In racing, Sandy took on the hardest job at any race track, and that was as a Scorer.

She would have to write down the car number, in order, of every car, on every lap, in every Division. Sandy did it well, and she worked her way up to the World of Outlaws Late Model Tour where she worked alongside her longtime boyfriend, World of Outlaws Announcer Rick Echelman. They were definitely a Hall of Fame Team in dirt track racing!

Sandy is also survived by three children, seven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. At Sandy’s request, there will be no funeral, and no flowers. She asked that everyone please remember her for the way she was on this Earth. Her remains will be cremated and taken to the Gulf of Mexico.

The thoughts and prayers of the management, officials, sponsors, competitors, and fans of Durrence Layne Racing are with Rick and the family. May God give you comfort, understanding, and heal your broken hearts during your time of sorrow.

Rest In Peace Sandy Rogers Holt. You were a wonderful Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, friend, professional, and a valued colleague to so many. You will be missed until we all see you again in Heaven.
