Team J&J Auto Racing Scores Four Victories in Two Countries

McKENZIE, Tenn. (May 24, 2017) – Winged Sprint Car drivers spanning four states and two countries scored victories for J&J Auto Racing over the weekend to put the McKenzie, Tenn., based manufacturer’s win total at nearly sixty only five months into the 2017 racing season. Jared Zimbardi, Morgan Turpen, Ryan Hunsinger and Sam Hafertepe, Jr., claimed checkered flags to boost their season stats in a big way.

Zimbardi kicked off the weekend of winning for J&J Auto Racing at Raceway 7 in Conneaut, Ohio, on May 19 with a victory against both the rain and the 22-car strong Patriot Sprint Tour (PST) field. Starting from the pole for the 25-lap feature event, Zimbardi drove to his second victory of the season. Across the northern border in Canada on the same night, Hunsinger claimed the Strickland’s GMC Crate Sprint Car Division season opener at Ohsweken Speedway in Ontario, Canada. Finishing fourth in the first heat race, Hunsinger took the green flag from the ninth starting spot. Taking the lead on lap 14, he held on for his second straight opening night victory.

Turpen continued her winning ways as she claimed her fifth straight United Sprint Car Series (USCS) Outlaw Thunder Tour victory in as many contests. Taking the lead on lap 17, Turpen set sail to earn her sixth feature event win of the season on May 19 at Needmore Speedway in Norman Park, GA. Terry Gray followed Turpen to the line for a third-place finish. Hafertepe, Jr., wrapped up the weekend with an American Sprint Car Series (ASCS) Red River Region win at Lawton (OK) Speedway on May 20 to continue to stretch his championship standings lead. The victory was Hafertepe’s sixth of the season.
