Tony Knowles Set For Dixie Fall Championship

Tyrone, Georgia (10/14/09) –Tony Knowles will return to familiar territory this Saturday, October 17th as he takes his #26 SAE Parts/RSD Enterprises/Rocket/Custom Racing Engine Super Late Model into battle in the Fall Nationals at Dixie Speedway in Woodstock, Georgia.

Last week TKR Motorsports set out to compete in four events, and the festivities got underway with the Tarheel 50 on Thursday night, October 8th at Cleveland Speedway in Cleveland, Tennessee. With 28 Super Late Models in action, the night got off to a slow start for Knowles, who finished 5th in his qualifier to earn the 22nd starting spot in the 40 lap feature. Tony would charge from his starting spot deep in the field to record a 12th place finish.

After losing the Lucas Oil Late Model Series event to rain on Friday night at Talladega Short Track at Eastaboga, Alabama, Tony traveled to Dixie Speedway in Woodstock, Alabama for another $10,000 to win Lucas Oil Late Model Series event. With 46 cars on hand, Tony picked up the win in the third heat race to earn the third starting position for the 50 lap feature. Knowles would battle in the top five for most of the event before seeing his luck go south late in the event as a flat right rear tire forced him pitside to a 19th place finish.

Tony entered the final night of the Lucas Oil Late Model Series Triple Header weekend on Sunday night in the Rome Showdown 50 at Rome Speedway in Rome, Georgia. With 41 Super Late Models in action, Knowles recorded a 5th place finish in his heat race, which was one spot short of a transfer to the feature event. As a result, Tony started on the front row of one of the twin b-main events, and went on to claim a second place finish, which earned him the 19th starting position for the 50 lap feature event.

Early in the feature, Tony would duck into the hot pits during a caution period to have a few changes made on his mount. He would rejoin the back of the pack before charging to a 12th place finish at the checkered flag.

This Saturday, Tony will be in action at his home track, Dixie Speedway in Woodstock, Georgia, for the 1st Annual Fall Championship.  The event will be headlined by a $2,000 to win, 30 Super Late Model event.  For more information, please visit the official internet home of Dixie Speedway at www.DixieSpeedway.com .
