Kerr and Roberts Take Top Two Spots in Smoky Mountain SAS Event

MARYVILLE, Tenn. (June 18) Tommy Kerr dominated the SAS Big Daddy 500 at Smoky Mountain Speedway Saturday night with teammate Casey Roberts taking second.

For the Blount Motorsports Team that has had a less than stellar season so far the Smoky Mountain one-two was a ray of sunshine and just what the team needed. Kerr who sat on the pole and led every lap had the dominant car, but he held his breath for the whole race.

“The way our luck has been this year I just knew something would happen like the flat at I-75 last week, but nothing did. The car was great and after I found my rhythm I was on cruise control just trying to save my tires,” grinned Kerr. “Late in the race when I saw Casey behind me I knew it was time to forget cruising and get up on the wheel.”

For Kerr, who had been driving a Rocket Blue front end car, it was only his second race in the Rocket XR1 and he was impressed.

“Man I really like this XR1 chassis. The two times I have driven it has been great. We made three little tweaks to the car after last week’s race at I-75 and it was flawless all night long. Hopefully they won’t do anything but wash it and put it up until my next race,” concluded Kerr.

“Tommy was fast off the trailer, fast in qualifying, fast in the race and right into victory lane,” said David Bryant. “To have Tommy and Casey finishing one-two at our home track is special.”

Roberts started fourth on the grid and worked his way up to second and started working on Kerr as the laps wound down.

“We tested the wall a little in qualifying and that put us starting fourth, but that wasn’t the problem tonight. The problem tonight was that Tommy was really hooked up and we couldn’t really do much with him. Doesn’t matter though because the BMS cars were one-two when it counted ,” said Roberts.

Langley Finishes Strong at ECM Speedway

Jasper, Alabama (6/18/2018) – Thomas Langley, driver of the #19 4 + Main Durrence Layne Racing Series (Formerly NeSmith Series) Dirt Track Late Model wrapped up the feature event in second place this past Saturday night at ECM Speedway in Arkadelphia Alabama.

ECM changed up the Durrence Layne Racing Series Late Model program and used heat races to determine starting positions for the feature event instead of the customary two-lap qualifying session. Langley started third in the heat race and finished in that position as well.

With stormy weather surrounding the speedway, ECM kept the program running quickly. With little time to make major adjustments, Langley adapted to the changing track conditions with his driving style and the Trak-Star #19 worked flawlessly after about six laps. Langley had to battle throughout the feature as each racer in the main event was poised to go after the win.

Following the race, Thomas Langley had these comments…..”the car felt great tonight, I can’t thank the guys enough for all the hard work they do in the shop to get this thing prepared. When we unloaded, we were good, we just needed the track to come to us little bit.” He added, “These guys in the 604 division are great racers, it is a lot of fun to race against some of the best week after week.”

The #19 4th + MAIN racing machine will be in action again this coming Saturday night, June 23rd at ECM Speedway……
