FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Magnolia Motor Speedway Hosts 6th Annual Cotton Pickin 100 This Weekend Columbus, Mississippi (10/27/09) - Magnolia Motor Speedway, “The South’s Premier Dirt Track,” will be presenting the 6th Annual Southern Belle Cotton Pickin 100 this Thursday – Saturday, October 29th-31st. The 6th Annual Cotton Pickin’ 100 is highlighted by a 100 lap, $15,000 To Win/$1,000 To Start Super Late Model event, a $2,500 to win/$150 to start Late Model Stock Vs. Crate Late Model event, and a $1,000 to win/$75 to start Street Stock event. In 2008, Billy Moyer topped a stellar field of Super Late Models to take the $15,000 top prize. Another stout field of Super Late Model competitors including Billy Moyer, Scott Bloomquist, Chris Wall, Wendell Wallace, Ray Moore, Bub McCool, Neil Baggett, Scott Slay, and many more are expected for this weekend’s 6th Annual Southern Belle Cotton Pickin’ 100. Chase Washington picked up the 2009 Southern Bell Cotton Pickin’ title in the Crate Late Model/Late Model Stock division, and will be looking for another championship in 2009. Defending Southern Belle Cotton Pickin’ 100 Street Stock Champion, Trey Bright, will be back to challenge a solid field of competitors. Action at Magnolia Motor Speedway will start with an open practice session on Thursday, October 29th. Grandstand admission is free. Pit Admission for adults is $15.00. Friday, October 30th will feature hot laps, time trials, and heat races. The driver’s meeting is slated for 7pm. General Admission is $20 for adults, while activity military, seniors, & students (11-17 years of age) $15. Kids 10 and under are free. Pit Admission is $30 for adults, $20 for juniors (6-10 years of age), and kids 5 & under free. Saturday, October 31st will consist of B-Mains followed by the Feature Events. Tehe driver’s meeting will get underway at 6:15pm. General Admission for adults is $25.00 with children 10 and under free. Pit Admission is $35 for adults, $25 for juniors (6-10 years of age), and kids 5 & under free. Three day pit passes are $70 and two day pit passes are $60. Two day, adult grandstand passes are $40. In the event that inclement weather cancels Friday’s racing program, the event will be run on Saturday night and Sunday afternoon/evening. On Saturday, October 31st a concert, featuring Jamie Davis and Soul Gravy, will be playing from 3pm to 4pm in front of the grandstand area. An autograph session and benefit auction for Theresa Bloodworth will be held from 4pm to 5pm. From 5pm to 6pm the kids will be trick or treating in the pit area from hauler to hauler, so all the drivers need to please be at their haulers for their kids and try to bring some candy to hand out. While the kids the trick or treating, there will be judges to pick out the best costumes and the winners will receive prizes and the grand prize winner will receive $100! In addition, there will be a canned food drive at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, Mississippi at this weekend's (October 29th-31st) Cotton Pickin' 100. The canned food drive is part of the Can Do Christmas that is being sponsored by the Mississippi Radio Group, which includes MS 98, Sunny 93, Z98.5, and Southern Belle. The Southern Belle Group will have a tent set up this weekend behind the grandstands or the items can be dropped off at the Southern Belle trailer in the pits. The grandstands open at 3:00pm each day. Lawn chairs are recommended, and small coolers are welcome. No outside alcohol is allowed to be brought in at any time.
