Magnolia State Cotton Pickin’ 100 Adds Non-Qualifier Race
Columbus, Mississippi (09/19/17) In less than three days the Magnolia State Cotton Pickin’ 100 comes to life at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, Mississippi. The annual mega event will be held on Thursday-Saturday, September 21st-23rd.
The 2017 Magnolia State Cotton Pickin’ 100 Presented by Cooper’s Country Meat Packers will be headlined by a $20,000-to-win/$1,200-to-start, 100 lap finale for the Super Late Models as competitors look to tame the 3/8-mile oval in hopes of claiming their share of the total purse that approaches $70,000.
In addition, Billy Franklin with Franklin Enterprises and Franklin Fence/ Erosion Control has stepped up to the plate to sponsor a Non-Qualifier’s Race for the Super Late Model division. The 20-lap event will be held on Saturday evening, and will post a $1,000-to-win/$100-to-start purse.
All Super Late Model non-qualifiers will have the option to run the event. If a driver elects to run the Non-Qualifier’s Race, he or she will forfeit their $100 B-Main money, but will receive a minimum of $100 for starting the Non-Qualifier’s Race.
The payout will be as follows:
“It’s really cool of Billy Franklin to step up to sponsor a Non-Qualifier’s Race,” track promoter, Johnny Stokes said. “This gives drivers the option to race one more time, even if they don’t qualify for the feature. Instead of leaving with just $100, a driver could pocket as much as $1,000.”
Super Late Model entries continue to roll in for the event. Early entries so far include 2017 World 100 winner, Jonathan Davenport along with 2016 and 2017 Knoxville Late Model Nationals Champion, Mike Marlar, and 2017 Firecracker 100 Champion Brandon Overton.
