With the 6th Annual Southern Belle Cotton Pickin’ 100 at Magnolia Motor Speedway pushed back a week due to rain, Bub has decided to invade Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, Alabama for the Super Late Model events, which are held in conjunction with the Nascar weekend. In addition to massive crowds, a stout field of competitors are expected for the doubleheader. The festivities get underway on Friday night with an unsanctioned, $2,000 to win Super Late Model program. On Saturday night, October 31st, the O’Reilly Southern All Star Super Late Model tour rumbles into town for a $5,000 to win event. For more information on the events, please visit www.TalladegaShortTrack.com and www.Southern-AllStars.com .

Last weekend McCool Motorsports traveled to Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, Mississippi for the 15th Annual Coors Light Fall Classic. McCool would crack the top ten early in the event and got as high as the sixth position before a mid-race tangle with Chad Thrash sent McCool spinning and resulted in a broken j-bar, which brought an early end to McCool Motorsports' night. Bub was credited with a disappointing 21st place finish. For a complete feature finish, please visit www.WhynotMotorsportsPark.com .

Make sure to pick up a brand new 2009 Halloween-themed, Bub McCool t-shirt this weekend at Talladega Short Track. The shirts come in several different colors and hoodies are also available. To view the new designs, please visit www.BubMcCool.com .

Following a sub par qualifying effort on Friday night, Dale turned up the wick in his heat race to get the win from his fourth starting spot.

When the dirt-slinging competition continued on Saturday evening, Dale rolled off from the pole position in the 60-lap 'Clash Bash.' The driver known as the "MacDaddy" led each and every circuit of the A-Main to earn his first career Carolina Clash Late Model Series triumph and the $10,000 winner's share over Jonathan Davenport, Randle Chupp, Ricky Weeks, and Austin Dillon. You can view complete results from 311 by visiting www.carolinaclash.com.

"It was a great weekend for us at 311," commented McDowell recently.  "Having to race on American Racer tires threw us a little curveball, but the car was fantastic all weekend.  We don't get to run very many Carolina Clash races, but that is a pretty tough series.  Those drivers know the racetracks very well and have a lot more experience with those tires.  Hopefully the win in the Clash Bash will give us a boost of confidence heading into Lowe's next week!"

Joiner Brothers Close out Southern Raceway's Regular Season with One-Two Finish

Milton, Fla. - Oct. 29, 2009 - Dirt Late Model drivers Joseph Joiner and Jonathan Joiner accomplished something this past weekend that they have only done once before. Together, the two brothers closed out Southern Raceway’s regular season in style, finishing first and second in the Late Model Season Championship Race. Joseph Joiner drove the No. 10 Joiner Racing Team GRT to his 13th win of the season while Jonathan Joiner completed the one-two finish by driving the No. 99 Pic N Sav Racing Swartz to a solid second-place finish.

With the feature lineup set by points, 16-year-old Joseph started the race from the outside of the front row. The second-year Late Model driver rocketed to the lead on the start of the race and led every lap on his way to the victory.
“It’s great to have a run like we did Saturday night,” said Joseph from the Joiner Racing shop on Wednesday. “I don’t know if the night could have gone any better than it did. We put in a great run and got to bring the car home all in one piece. That’s pretty much all you can ask for.”

The race wasn’t as easy for Jonathan, who due to running only a handful of races at Southern Raceway this season, started from the 10th position. The 22-year-old driver worked his way into the top five early in the race, but had to go to the tail of the field after being spun out by another driver. Restarting in the 14th position, Jonathan once again set his sights on the front and methodically worked his way forward to the runner-up finish.

“I sure wasn’t expecting to finish as good as we did Saturday night,” said Jonathan. “Coming from the back like we had to isn’t an easy task at Southern, and to have to do it twice was tough. But the car was great and we’ve finally got our motor running like it’s supposed to. I just really appreciate Mr. Culpepper with Pic N Sav letting me drive his race car.”
The brothers’ first one-two finish came in July of 2008, when Jonathan scored his fifth win of that year on his way to winning eight races and the Southern Raceway Late Model Championship. While Jonathan was the dominant driver at the Milton, Fla., race track last season, Joseph has taken advantage of his older brother’s limited schedule to assert himself as the dominant driver in Southern Raceway’s Late Model division. Joseph won a total of 10 races at Southern Raceway this season and finished second in the Late Model championship standings, even after missing nearly 10 races while traveling to other race tracks in the Southeast region.

“Last year I would look at Jonathan’s car and see all the feature win stickers he had earned and thought man, it sure would be nice to be able to win that many races,” explained Joseph. “I never thought we would be able to win as many as we have this season. At the beginning of the year we set a goal to win five races, so to win 13 races, 10 of them at Southern, is really amazing to me. It’s definitely been a great year for us.”

While Joseph plans to take the upcoming weekend off, Jonathan is planning on traveling to Deep South Speedway in Loxley, Ala., both Friday night and Saturday night to compete in the Spoke Nationals. Running “topless,” the Late Models will compete for $700-to-win Friday night and $1,000-to-win Saturday night.

Joseph Joiner and the Joiner Racing Team would like to thank their fans, family, friends, and sponsors All Pro Tune Up, Car City Engine and Machine, A-Plus Party Rentals, and Race Products for their continued support.

Jonathan Joiner would once again like to thank Pic N Sav Grocery Stores for their support. With seven locations, including stores in Milton, Fla., Baker, Fla., Brewton, Ala., and Andalusia, Ala., Pic N Sav strives to be a low-price leader in groceries, meats and produce while providing quality customer service. Please support Jonathan Joiner and the Pic N Sav Racing Team by shopping at your local Pic N Sav store.
