NeSMITH/DURRENCE LAYNE WEEKLY RACING SERIES WEEK 6 PREVIEW

               CARTERSVILLE, GA – The NeSmith/Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series Week 6 action will see 17 races in eight states over three days with 14 NeSmith/Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division races, 13 NeSmith/Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock Division events, seven NeSmith/Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division races, and three Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division races.

              There will be four NeSmith/Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division races on Friday night at Columbus Speedway in Columbus, MS, Hattiesburg Speedway in Hattiesburg, MS, Moulton Speedway in Danville, AL, and Oglethorpe Speedway Park in Savannah, GA.

              There will be nine Saturday night NeSmith/Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division races held at Camden Speedway in Camden, TN, Duck River Raceway Park in Lewisburg, TN, ECM Speedway in Arkadelphia, AL, Enid Speedway in Enid, OK that will be co-sanctioned with NCRA, Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS, Junction Motor Speedway in McCool Junction, NE, North Alabama Speedway in Tuscumbia, AL, Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL, and Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS.

              There will be a lone Sunday night NeSmith/Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division Week 6 race on the schedule for Dawson County Raceway in Lexington, NE. Sid Scarbrough of Florence, MS leads the NeSmith/Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division National standings with 242 points, and holds a three-point lead over the 2012 National Champion Chase Washington of Houlka, MS. Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS is third with 237 points.

              There will be three NeSmith/Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock Division events on Friday night at Columbus Speedway, Hattiesburg Speedway and Moulton Speedway. Ten races will take place on Saturday night at Camden Speedway, Chatham Speedway in Chatham, LA, Duck River Raceway Park, ECM Speedway, Greenville Speedway, North Alabama Speedway, Northwest Florida Speedway in Baker, FL, Talladega Short Track, Whynot Motorsports Park, and Winchester Raceway Park in Winchester, TN.

              Bryan Fortner of Millport, AL leads the NeSmith/Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock Division National standings with 241 points after the first six weeks of the 27-week season. Michael Blount of Sumrall, MS is second with 236 points and Lee Ray of Columbus, MS is third with 235 points.

              The NeSmith/Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division will have two Week 6 race on Friday night at Columbus Speedway and Moulton Speedway. Five races are on the Saturday night schedule at Camden Speedway, ECM Speedway, North Alabama Speedway, Talladega Short Track, and Whynot Motorsports Park.

              Tody Ratcliff of Meridian, MS sits on top of the NeSmith/Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division National standings with a six-week total of 235 points. Buddy George of Ragland, AL is second with 232 points, and Mark Thorne of Demopolis, AL is in the third spot with 225 points.

              The Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division has three races on the Week 6 schedule, all on Saturday night at Camden Speedway, North Alabama Speedway, and at Talladega Short Track. Justin Angle of Anniston, AL leads the National standings with 157 points after three 40-point wins in four starts. Andy Davis is second with 155 points and Chris Yarbrough is third with 116 points.

              Drivers in the NeSmith/Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series compete for both a track point fund and a National point fund during a 27-week season that will run through September 30. A driver’s best 14 weekly point totals will count as their National points total. The top ten drivers in each of the four Divisions will be honored at the NeSmith/Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series National Awards Banquet at the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame in Dawsonville, GA.

              The NeSmith/Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division race cars are powered by either the 400 horsepower aluminum-head, steel block Chevrolet Performance 604 Circle Track Engine, or the 350 horsepower steel-head, steel-block Chevrolet Performance 602 Circle Track Engine. 

            The Chevrolet Performance 602 Circle Track Engine is the engine of choice in the NeSmith/Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock Division, and the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division. The Chevrolet Performance 602 Engine is the required engine in the NeSmith/Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division.
