NeSMITH/DURRENCE LAYNE WEEKLY RACING SERIES WEEK 6 ROUND UP

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

              CARTERSVILLE, GA – Ricky Idom of Hattiesburg, MS continued his winning streak in NeSmith/Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock Division Week 6 action Friday night at Hattiesburg Speedway in Hattiesburg, MS. Idom drove his CBR Motorsports Special to his fifth straight win in five races to have a perfect Weekly Point Average of 50.

              Bryan Fortner of Millport, AL leads the NeSmith/Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock standings with 291 points, and a WPA of 48.5. Fortner picked up his second win of the season on Friday night at Mouton Speedway in Moulton, AL. Lee Ray of Columbus, MS is second in the standings with 283 points, and David Williamson of Seminary, MS is third with 281 points.

              Mike Lane of Pace, FL is fourth with 280 points and Cody Nelson of Milan, TN is fifth in the NeSmith/Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock standings with 266 points. Ray took a 40-point win on Friday night at Columbus Speedway in Columbus, MS and Lane was the winner on Saturday night at Northwest Florida Speedway in Baker, FL.

              Also taking NeSmith/Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock Division wins in NeSmith/Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series Week 6 action were Lucky Keeton of Collinsville, MS at Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS on Saturday night, and Casey Hobson of Chatham, LA was the winner on Saturday night at Chatham Speedway in Chatham, LA. Trevor Woodard of Mount Pleasant, TN was the winner on Sunday at North Alabama Speedway in Tuscumbia, AL.

              Sid Scarbrough of Florence, MS remains the point leader in the NeSmith/Durrence Lane Chevrolet Late Model Division standings with 291 points, and Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS is second with 286 points. Steve Russell of Pontotoc, MS is third with 272 points, while Cole Cameron of Hattiesburg, MS is fourth with 266 points and Tim Dees of Meridian, MS is fifth with 256 points.

              NeSmith/Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division Friday night Week 6 winners were Henry Hanger at Moulton Speedway, Tootie Arnold of Meadville, MS at Hattiesburg Speedway, and Shane Riner at Oglethorpe Speedway Park in Savannah, GA.

              Saturday night NeSmith/Durrence Layne Late Model Week 6 winners were Dusty Leonard at Enid Speedway in Enid, OK in a co-sanctioned race with NCRA, two-time NeSmith/Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series West Region Champion Jim McDuffie of Meridian, MS at Whynot Motorsports Park, Jake Neighbors at Junction Motor Speedway in McCool Junction, NE. David Kay won the lone Sunday race at North Alabama Speedway.

              Tody Ratcliff of Meridian, MS remains the point leader in the NeSmith/Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division with a 23-point lead over Aaron Fitzhugh. Ratcliff has 276 points and Fitzhugh has 253 points. Mark Thorne is third with 250 points, while Nick Thrash of Meridian, MS is fourth with 244 points, and Buddy George of Ragland, AL is fifth with 232 points.

              Friday night NeSmith/Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division wins went to Donovan Henry at Moulton Speedway, and Tony Shelton of Columbus, MS at Columbus Speedway in Columbus, MS. 

            On Saturday night, the lone NeSmith/Durrence Layne Late Model Sportsman winner was Rick Hasselle at Whynot Motorsports Park. Bryson Mitchell of Russellville, AL was the winner on Sunday at North Alabama Speedway.
           
            Justin Angle of Anniston, AL took his fourth Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division win of the season on Sunday at North Alabama Speedway to pad his point lead. Angle leads the Modified Sportsman standings with 197 points and holds a four-point lead over Andy Davis, who has 193 points. Chris Yarbrough is third with 155 points, while Oakley Gillespie is fourth with 147 points and Ron Bailey is fifth with 76 points.
           
            Mother Nature washed out NeSmith/Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series Week 6 action on Saturday night at Camden Speedway in Camden, TN, Duck River Raceway Park in Lewisburg, TN, ECM Speedway in Arkadelphia, AL, Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS, Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL, and Winchester Motorsports Park in Winchester, TN.
           
            Participation in the NeSmith/Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series continues to grow with six weeks of competition in the books. A total of 601 different drivers among the four weekly Divisions have competed in Weekly Racing Series events.
