DURRENCE LAYNE WEEKLY RACING SERIES WEEK 7 ROUND UP

               CARTERSVILLE, GA – Week 7 of the Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series saw two drivers keep their perfect seasons going, and three drivers in the Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock Division pocketed $1,000.

              Evan Ellis of Plantersville, MS drove the Ellis Welding Special to his fifth straight Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division win on Saturday night at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS. Ellis remains undefeated and has a perfect Weekly Point Average of 50. Double E will definitely be a driver to watch in the coming weeks as he climbs up the point standings.

              Ricky Idom of Hattiesburg, MS picked up his sixth win of the 2018 Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock Division season on Saturday night at Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, MS. While Idom doesn’t have a perfect season, he has a perfect WPA at 50. With his winning streak at five-in-a-row going into Week 7, it came to an end on Friday night.

              Michael Blount of Sumrall, MS broke Idom’s winning streak on Friday night at Hattiesburg Speedway in Hattiesburg, MS. It was the first win for Blount, who has competed in Durrence Layne Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National Touring events for many years with his family as his crew, since he won a National Touring race in 2009. Blount and his daughter/crew chief Jordan have found success this season with the Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock Division.

              Chad Winkles, Kyle Livingood, and David Earl Gentry all took $1,000 wins in Week 7 Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock Division action. Winkles took the win on Friday night at Moulton Speedway in Danville, AL, Livingood was the winner on Saturday night at Needmore Speedway in Norman Park, GA, and Gentry grabbed the victory on Saturday night at North Alabama Speedway in Tuscumbia, AL.

              Week 7 Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division winners on Friday night were point leader Sid Scarbrough of Florence, MS at Hattiesburg Speedway Cruz Skinner of Oxford, AL at Moulton Speedway in Moulton, AL, and Steve Russell of Pontotoc, MS at Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS.

              Other Saturday night Durrence Layne Late Model winners were Cliff Ross at Jackson Motor Speedway, Eric Hickerson at Camden Speedway in Camden, TN, Austin Franklin at ECM Speedway in Arkadelphia, AL, Cory Dumpert at 81 Speedway in Wichita, KS, Brad Berry at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL, Jadon Frame of Decherd, TN at Winchester Raceway Park in Winchester, TN, and Seth McCormack at North Alabama Speedway. 

            John Bishop warmed up for the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Dirt Late Model National Touring event this Friday night at Oglethorpe Speedway Park with a Saturday night win at OSP. The Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model National Tour will also stop at Cochran Motor Speedway in Cochran, GA this Saturday night, but they were rained out for Week 7 Saturday night competition, as was Junction Motor Speedway in McCool Junction, NE.
           
            Scarbrough holds an eight-point lead in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division point standings over Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS. Scarbrough has 341 points and Lee has 333 points. Russell is third with 322 points.
           
            Along with Blount and Winkles, Friday night Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock Division winners were Larry Faulk at Flomaton Speedway in Flomaton, AL, and A.C. Parker Jr. at Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS. Joining Idom, Livingood, and Gentry as Saturday night Durrence Layne Street Stock winners were Colby Brandon at Camden Speedway, and Sam Hughes at ECM Speedway.
           
            Lee Ray of Columbus, MS was the Durrence Layne Street Stock winner at Magnolia Motor Speedway, and closed to within three points of Division point leader Bryan Fortner of Millport, AL. Fortner has 336 points and Ray has 333 points. Mike Lane of Pace, FL is third with 329 points.
           
            Howie Reeves was the Durrence Layne Street Stock winner on Saturday night at Southern Raceway in Milton, FL, Billy Wilkins took the win at Talladega Short Track, Mark Haddon at Winchester Raceway Park, Scotty Dial at Boyd’s Speedway in Ringgold, GA, and Casey Hobson at Chatham Speedway in Chatham, LA.
           
            Winkles double dipped on Friday night, as he also won the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division main event at Moulton Speedway. On Saturday night, Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman wins were captured by Zack Owens at Jackson Motor Speedway, Rex Berry at Camden Speedway, Cole Brown at ECM Speedway, Nick Thrash at Magnolia Motor Speedway, Ryan King at Talladega Short Track and Chuck Gipson at North Alabama Speedway.
           
            Tody Ratcliff of Meridian, MS remains the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division point leader with 320 points and has a 12-point lead over Brandon Crosby. Aaron Fitzhugh and Thrash are tied for third in the points chase with 294 points apiece.
           
            There were three Saturday night Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division races on the Week 7 schedule. Casey Dunavan was the winner at Camden Speedway, Chris Yarbrough took the victory at Talladega Short Track, and Tracy Terrell was the winner at North Alabama Speedway.
           
            Justin Angle of Anniston, AL is the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division point leader with 235 points. Angle has just a three-point lead over Andy Davis. Yarbrough is third in the points chase with 195 points.
