Tuscumbia, AL - The NeSmith Dirt Late Model Series is excited to announce an addition to the 2017 National Touring Schedule that will take place on September 29th and 30th. The series has added a $5,000 to win, 60 lap event at “Alabama’s Action Track” – North Alabama Speedway in Tuscumbia, AL.
The event will serve as a good replacement for events that have been rained out earlier in the season as the 2017 National Touring Series Points chase will be winding down. The series has visited North Alabama Speedway in the past, and is looking forward to bringing the side-by-side, ultra-competitive action to one of the raciest surfaces in the area. The track has recently seen a “revival” after being shuttered for the past couple of years. When reopening for the 2017 the current promoter signed on with the NeSmith Weekly Racing Series for 3 divisions that compete at the speedway each Saturday night. Those divisions have seen steady building car counts, great action, and fans are excited about the track’s return to prominence.
“We are excited about returning to North Alabama Speedway with the Touring Division in September. Brian Mitchell and his staff have done a great job getting the track into great racing shape as well as continuing to make improvements to the facility. It has always been a great setting and awesome racing there and we look forward to our chance to return,” stated NeSmith Racing CEO/Founder Mike Vaughn. The schedule for the North Alabama Speedway September Showdown will include an Open Practice on Thursday September 28th. Friday September 29th will feature Knowles Race Parts and Bodies Pole Qualifying and Heat Races to determine starting positions. Following Friday night’s action a special FREE concert and Pit Party is slated for drivers in attendance. Saturday will feature B-Main events to finish the 24 car starting line-up plus the 60 lap, $5,000 to win Main Event.
