FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division Week 27 of 2017 Round Up

Cartersville, GA - With the 2017 NeSmith Performance Parts Street Stock Division season now officially in the books, drivers who have battled long and hard now know where they will finish in the season ending National Point standings. Hayti, MO driver Josh Tomlin and Hartselle, AL driver Chad Winkles finished the season tied at a "perfect" 700 points each. Tomlin was able to squeeze out the tie breaker with just a couple of 50 point wins over Winkles who made a strong challenge from the midway point of the season.
Texan Rob Slott, Mississippi's Lee Ray, Tennessee's Trevor Woodard, and Louisiana driver Tim Dillon will round out the top 6 in the National Point Standings, solidifying the most diverse group among the top 6 in history as each represent a different home state. The top 10 represents 8 different states with Florida(Branden Harris) and Georgia(Jason Price) in the mix as well. This mix of drivers highlights the ability to go across the country and run under a uniform set of rules, and be competitive while earning points at your home track and other sanctioned speedways.
While the 2017 points season is over, drivers will be hitting the special events during the "off season"(all 30 days of it!), and then set their sights on preparing for 2018. The NeSmith Racing organization would like to THANK all of the drivers, crews, sponsors, tracks, and fans for their support and we look forward to making 2018 bigger and better!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series 2017 Week 27 Round Up

Cartersville, GA - The 2017 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series season is officially in the record books. The season is one that brings new faces to the spotlight with the 2017 National Championship being claimed by Nebraska driver Josh Leonard. Leonard's arrival to the 2017 scene came with the addition of Junction Motor Speedway and Lexington Raceway in Nebraska to the family of sanctioned speedways. Leonard used his strong finishes at those two tracks, and his visits to Salina Speedway where it all begin with the expansion of the NeSmith Late Models into that region.
Leonard's season was "perfect" with a 700 point total, but after getting a later start to the points chase, former National Champion Noah Daspit made a valiant charge at the end coming up just short of becoming a repeat champion, and edging Jeremy Shaw for the runner up spot.
Drivers that make up the top 10 represent 5 different states, and have used strong performances at their home tracks to compete against drivers across the country that have competed at their local tracks too. The uniform rules package and points structure has proven again that the NeSmith Weekly Racing program provides exciting action at each track they are featured across the country. The NeSmith Racing officials would like to THANK the competitors, tracks, crews, fans, and sponsors for their support during the 2017 season, and look forward to a bigger and better 2018 season!

Headlines from Week 27:

  • Seth McCormack picked up the Saturday night NeSmith Late Model win at North Alabama Speedway. McCormack will be a driver that the Touring division regulars will have to knock off the home track advantage at the King of Crate 60 next weekend(Sept. 28-30).
  • Veteran Ronnie Cooper took the checkered flag on Saturday night at Camden Motor Speedway in Camden, TN.
  • Darren Patrick was Saturday night's NeSmith Late Model winner at Chatham Speedway in Chatham, LA.
  • LA 36 Speedway's Saturday night NeSmith Late Model win went to Scott Ladner in his #21 machine.
