Jeff Roth and Joe Godsey Dig Deep to Get Traction in 2018

Bentonville, Arkansas (05/10/18) – Bentonville, Arkansas-based Roth Motorsports – with drivers Jeff Roth and Joe Godsey – haven’t had the start to the 2018 campaign that they would’ve liked. Despite the slow start to the season the team is still upbeat on the direction that they are headed.

“These new XR1 Rocket Chassis are a little different than the older ones we had, so the learning curve has been steeper than we expected this year, but I think we’re slowly but surely starting to get some things figured out,” Jeff Roth said. “The competition curve is so steep that if you are a little off, it really shows in your results. Hopefully the gains we are making will start showing in our upcoming events. I greatly appreciate everyone’s hard work with our team. I also want to thank all of our marketing partners for their great support.”

Last weekend the team set out to enter a trio of Lucas Oil Midwest Late Model Racing Association (MLRA) events in Iowa and Illinois.

After Mother Nature wiped out Thursday’s opener at Lee County Speedway (Donnellson, Iowa), the Roth Motorsports team headed to Davenport Raceway (Davenport, Iowa) on Friday to compete with the Lucas Oil MLRA Series.

With 28 Super Late Models registered for action, Joe Godsey recorded a fourth-place finish in his heat race, while Jeff Roth locked his spot into the show in his Homes by Roth #14R Coldwell Banker by Harris McHaney & Faucette/ XR1 Rocket Chassis with a sixth-place finish.

Slipping four spots in the 40-lapper, Godsey logged a 14th-place outing in his Waco Title #14G Hot Water Heroes/ XR1 Rocket Chassis Super Late Model. Roth dropped six positions to place 23rd in the final rundown.

Saturday night brought 24 MLRA competitors to La Salle Speedway (La Salle, Illinois) for the Land of Lincoln 40. Coming in fifth and sixth in their respective heat races, Roth and Godsey secured their spots in the $3,000-to-win main event.

Breaking into the Top-10, Joe Godsey reeled in a ninth-place finish. Jeff Roth came four spots shy of a Top-10 finish with a 14th-place outing.

Joe Godsey is eighth in the latest series standings, while Jeff Roth is currently ninth in the points. For more results from these events as well as the latest, please visit www.MLRARacing.com .
