Dane Dacus Scores 2nd Career Southern All Star Win At Thunderhill

RACE RECAP: LAWRFENCEBURG, TN--The Southern All Star Dirt Racing Series made its second stop of the 2017 season at the Thunderhill Raceway in Lawrenceburg, TN., and Lakeland, TN., driver Dane Dacus got his second career Southern All Star in front of a record standing room only crowd at Thunderhill Raceway.  Dacus & Brad Skinner battled for the top spot midway through the race with Dacus finally taking command on lap 25 and then he had to battle lapped traffic to get the win and the $4,000 check.  Brad Skinner of Spring Hill, TN., battled with current Southern All Star points leader Austin Horton of Newnan, GA., for the second spot with Skinner finally getting the spot late in race, Horton came home in third place, fourth  went to Riley Hickman and fifth to Jason Welshan of Maryville, TN., in his second race with the series this year.

Sixth place went to Eric Hickerson of Linden, TN., seventh to Tristan Sealy of Moultrie, GA., eighth to Billy Franklin of Calera, AL., in his first start with the Southern All Stars, ninth to another first time starter with the series Jadon Frame of Decherd, TN., and rounding out the top ten Scott Cook of Winchester, TN.
RACE TIDBITS: Dance Dacus started 7th in the event and worked the high side of the track on his way to the front, this was Dacus’ second with his first came at Clayhill Raceway in Atwood, TN., in 2010.  David Brannon was running third when during the first caution he pulled in due to mechanical problems, David Seibers Southern All Stars bad luck continues as he is force out of completion due to mechanical problem, Jason Welshan back with the series since the first race at Cherokee, another driver with Southern All Star problems every time series in the area is Ray McElhiney problems continue as he did not get to qualify then had problems that forced him out of race, Mark Dowdy crashed hard in the B Mains but was able to piece his car back together and start the feature looking like open wheel modified., Trey Wood was also involved in a B Main crash and his crew got his car back ready for  the feature event.  Track promoter Ricky Spurgeon said that the crowd at Thunderhill Raceway Saturday night was the largest crowd that he has had at the facility since he took over the lease.  First time racers with the series this season were David Brannon, Scott Cook, Mitch Thornton, James Neal, Jadon Frame, and Ferrel Skelton.

The next Southern All Stars event will be on Saturday night July 15th at the Magnolia Speedway in Columbus, MS., and the Governors Cup paying $4,000 to win for the 40 lap event.  Also on Friday night July 14th there will be a open practice session from 7pm-10pm.
