Runner-Up Finish for Gregg Satterlee in COMP Cams Topless 100

Indiana, Pennsylvania (08/23/17) – Gregg Satterlee piloted his Satterlee Petroleum Distributors #22 Valvoline/ Rocket Chassis XR1/ Durham Racing Engine Super Late Model to a runner-up finish in the 25th Annual COMP Cams Topless 100.

“It’s pretty to cool to get such a good finish in my first-ever Topless 100,” Satterlee commented. “Today was definitely an event all about tire management with a little luck thrown into the mix. Our team really needed this shot in the arm because we’ve been struggling the past month or so. I want to thank them for their hard work. It definitely all paid off today.”

Friday night brought Gregg Satterlee and 41 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) competitors to Batesville Motor Speedway (Batesville, Arkansas) for the event co-sanctioned with the COMP Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS).

Sending the Top 4 out of the heats and into the Topless 100 on Saturday night, Gregg scored a 3rd-place finish in his 15-lap heat race locking him into the 11th-starting position for the feature.

Unfortunately, Gregg’s first start in the crown would be delayed a day after Mother Nature postponed the main event from Saturday evening to Sunday afternoon.

During the course of the finale Satterlee charged through the field nine spots in the 100-lap affair to finish 2nd behind Scott Bloomquist with Dennis Erb Jr., David Breazeale, and Tim McCreadie completing the Top 5.

This Saturday, August 26 Satterlee will travel to Lawrenceburg Speedway (Lawrenceburg, Indiana) to compete in the $12,000-to-win, Whiskey 50 event.

Rhett Carter Surges Late for South Georgia Cash

Blackshear, Georgia (08/23/17) – Rhett Carter made a late charge to the lead in his Continental Tire #44 Jeff’s Heating & Air/ Rocket Chassis XR1 / Wildcat Performance Engines Late Model at South Georgia Motorsports Park.

His late-race heroics would park him in Victory Lane for the ninth time in 2017.

On Saturday evening Rhett Carter invaded South Georgia Motorsports Park (Cecil, Georgia) for the Southern Thunder Late Model Series sanctioned event. With 15 Super Late Models on hand, Carter registered the fastest time overall in qualifying, locking him into the pole position for the 40-lap A-Main. After building a comfortable lead early in the feature, Carter lost the top spot to Devin Dixon near the midway point.

Overtaking Dixon in the closing laps, Rhett was able to rebound to claim his ninth win of the season. Devin Dixon, Cole Exum, Tyler Crowder, and Brandon DeWitt completed the Top 5. He was awarded a $3,000 payday for his late-race comeback victory.  

“I was a little worry that I might have given this one away, but thankfully I was able to retake the lead in the closing laps,” Carter said. “We had some tough racers there tonight, so to be able to get the win shows how strong our team is performing right now. A very special thanks goes out to everyone, who helps make my program possible.”

Chris Brown Wins Whynot Modified Feature

Spring, Texas (08/23/17) – For the second time in three weeks Chris Brown took his Lone Star Hydro & Maintenance #21 MB Customs/ Knowles Performance Engine Modified to Victory Lane.

His latest victory was claimed over the weekend at Whynot Motorsports Park.

Last weekend Chris Brown made the trip to Whynot Motorsports Park (Meridian, Mississippi), where he competed in three separate divisions during the 5th Annual Southern Street Stock Nationals. In a field of 18 Open Wheel Modifieds, Brown secured the 2nd-starting spot for the feature after cruising to a heat race win.

Picking up his third win of the season, Chris topped Randy King, Ryan Fowler, Wesley Duboise, and Rodney Etheridge at the finish line to capture the $1,500 payday.

In the NeSmith Crate Late Model ranks, Brown scored a heat race victory from the 5th-starting position, locking his spot into the feature. Rolling off 3rd for the $2,000-to-win A-Main, Chris jumped up one spot to place 2nd behind Randy Boyd with Chad Thrash, Josh Banes, and Casey Haney completing the Top 5 finishers.

With a stout field of 115 NeSmith Street Stocks entered, Brown followed up the sixth-fastest time overall in qualifying with a 3rd-place finish in his heat race. Transferring into the B-Main for another shot at the feature, Chris captured a consolation win, positioning him 11th on the starting grid for the $3,000-to-win main event.

Chris slipped back to a 23rd place outing in the 50-lap affair.

“The result of the Street Stock feature was a little disappointing, but overall I couldn’t have asked for much more this weekend,” Brown commented. “I really appreciate everyone who supports my racing program. We didn’t race as much as I would’ve liked this year, but I feel like we made the most of every opportunity that we had when we did race.”

Dale McDowell Scorches the Competition

Welcome, North Carolina (08/23/17) – After a few weeks of bad luck Dale McDowell bounced back on Thursday night to pilot the Shane McDowell Racing #17m Will Kinzer Foundation/ Sweet-Bloomquist Chassis Super Late Model to victory in the 13th Annual Scorcher.

“Between Cedar Lake and Florence, things couldn’t have gone much worse for us,” McDowell commented. “Mechanical failures, bad luck, you name it, we’ve had it all. Tonight though things couldn’t have gone much better. These young guns out here are tough, and really made me get up on the wheel to get the job done. I’m glad to get this hot rod back in Victory Lane and get things pointed back in the right direction.”

Thursday night found Dale McDowell in action at Volunteer Speedway (Bulls Gap, Tennessee) for the ULTIMATE Super Late Model Series sanctioned program. Drawing 30 entries for the 13th Annual Scorcher, McDowell followed up the second fastest time in his qualifying group with a 10-lap heat race win. Earning the pole position for the feature, Dale led flag-to-flag, capturing his fifth win of the season over Ross Bailes, Vic Hill, Casey Roberts, and Dennis Franklin. McDowell was awarded a $10,000 payday for his dominant performance in the 50-lap affair.

Saturday night took the team to North Georgia Speedway (Chatsworth, Georgia), where the Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Bonus Series (SNBS) posted a $10,000 winner’s check for the 60-lap finale. Forty-three entries took part in the event, and a heat race win moved McDowell to the finale. He would race in the Top-5 throughout the finale, and actually took the lead from Mike Marlar on lap 56, only to have a caution nullify the pass. Dale went on to finish in the runner-up position behind Marlar. Brandon Overton, Michael Page, and Donald McIntosh completed the Top 5.

The weekend drew to close on Sunday evening with a $5,300-to-win, Schaeffer’s Oil SNBS event at Rome Speedway (Rome, Georgia). Dale would enjoy another solid outing as he came away with a 4th-place finish behind Mike Marlar, Brandon Overton, and Shanon Buckingham with Casey Roberts in 5th.

The team will take a two week break as they prepare for the 47th Annual World 100 at Eldora Speedway (Rossburg, Ohio) on September 7-9.
