Swindell Charges to Fourth-Place Result During Debut at North Alabama Speedway

Inside Line Promotions - TUSCUMBIA, Ala. (March 26, 2018) - Sammy Swindell scored a top-five finish during his debut at North Alabama Speedway last Saturday.

Swindell and car owner A.G. Rains used the USCS Series event to test before a couple of big-paying races that are on the horizon.

"It gave us a little opportunity to test," Swindell said. "That was the reason for running it before we go on the road the next two weeks. Everything was good."

Rain hammered the track just before the event began.

"It rained down there right before we were going to start around 6 o'clock," Swindell said. "They were trying to run the track in with anybody who wanted to get out there. They had about a lane and a half around the top that you could race on."

Swindell advanced from fifth to fourth place in a heat race before he maneuvered from 10th to fourth in the A Main, which earned the Hard Charger Award for passing the most cars.

"We were good with the car, but the race track wasn't giving us much of an opportunity to do much because of that rain," he said. "If you got low you'd get in the slime and slide up. I had to wait until someone made a mistake and I'd have to be in the right place to get underneath them. It was about being patient and waiting for an opportunity to pass somebody. We did the best we could with what we had."

Swindell and Rains are slated to tackle the 8th annual Park City Cup/Air Capital Shootout this Friday and Saturday at 81 Speedway in Park City, Kan. It will be Swindell's first time at the track since placing third in March 2015.

The team will then venture to Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth, Texas, on April 6-7 for a Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour presented by SawBlade.com event.

Sides Motorsports Nets Two World of Outlaws Heat Race Wins in Bakersfield

Inside Line Promotions - BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (March 26, 2018) - Sides Motorsports picked up a pair of heat race victories last Saturday at Bakersfield Speedway during a World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series show.

Both Jason Sides and Tim Kaeding had strong starts to the night as Kaeding timed in second quickest with Sides posting a season-best third-place effort in time trials. Sides and Kaeding followed that up by each winning a heat race to lock into the dash.

"Qualifying sets everything up and then to win a heat race and make the dash is the first goal of every night," Sides said. "This was the best night Tim and I had going during this West Coast swing."

Kaeding placed fourth in the dash while Sides ended eighth.

"Tim was starting toward the front in the A Main so we mostly left his car alone, but we tightened mine up," Sides said. "I think Tim had a top-five car, but someone drove through him and broke his left rear shock."

Kaeding spent most of the race battling between third and 10th place with wild restarts jumbling up the field. He closed the race with a 10th-place finish, which marked his third straight top 10.

Sides struggled with a tight race car and he faded to an 18th -place result.

"I want to thank Tim for driving for us the last few weeks," he said. "It was a lot of fun working with him and he did a great job of running well."

Sides will be off this weekend before resuming competition on April 7 at Arizona Speedway in Queen Creek, Ariz., during the Arizona Desert Shootout with the World of Outlaws.
