Swindell Earns Second-Place Finish During Debut at Lexington 104 Speedway

Inside Line Promotions - LEXINGTON, Tenn. (July 5, 2017) - Sammy Swindell capped last weekend with a runner-up result on Sunday at Lexington 104 Speedway during his debut at the track.

Swindell, who was driving for A.G. Rains, kicked off the USCS Series event by maneuvering from fourth to second place in a heat race. That lined him up on the outside of the front row for the main event.

"We started second with Derek Hagar on the pole," he said. "The racing groove was narrow off turn four and he got the jump on the start. I could almost get around him around the corner, but he'd come up down the straightaways and I'd have to follow him. We both had trouble with lapped cars, but I just didn't get a good opportunity to get by him. He didn't make any mistakes or enough of a mistake to get by so we settled for second."

It was a strong finish to the weekend after Swindell ran into trouble the previous night at Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Ark. He advanced from fifth to third place in the dash before winning a heat race. After lining up on the outside of the front row for the main event, Swindell quickly rocketed into the lead before enduring an untimely end.

"We were real quick again like the week before when we had the tire problem," he said. "We were rolling right along. Everything was going pretty good. I was third in points after the heat races and they inverted four so that started me second in the A Main. I got out front right away. About the fourth lap I came up to lap a guy. He turned down onto me and took our front end out."

It marked the second straight race at Riverside International Speedway when Swindell was leading only to run into a DNF. He was credited with a 19 th-place finish.

Swindell was also slated to race last Sunday at Clayhill Motorsports in Atwood, Tenn., but the event rained out.

Sides Rallies for Top Five at Dakota State Fair Speedway With World of Outlaws

Inside Line Promotions - HURON, S.D. (July 5, 2017) - Jason Sides capped last weekend by earning his seventh top 10 of the season as he climbed to eighth in the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series championship standings.

The night began on Sunday at Dakota State Fair Speedway, where the left front radius rod came off during qualifying. That ended with Sides timing in 19th quickest overall, which lined him up seventh in a heat race.

"We got by a car and then Sheldon (Haudenschild) had a flat tire so we got to fifth," he said. "We went back green and then Kraig (Kinser) had a flat. I passed someone for third and I was gaining on Logan (Schuchart), but ran out of time to get him to make the dash."

Sides rallied from seventh to third place in the heat race, which was one position shy of making the dash. It started him seventh in the main event.

"We went from seventh to sixth in the first lap," he said. "Then I got too low and out of the racing groove and I fell back to ninth. We got going and passed a couple back. I got by Jason Johnson and then he had a flat. I got by (Daryn) Pittman and then (Brad) Sweet. I got up to third. We had a red flag and when we went back green they threw the green and white together because of the track conditions. Tim Kaeding got a run on me coming for the green. He was more in the rubber and he got away from me in turns one and two. After Donny (Schatz) took the lead I was going to get by Shane (Stewart), but when Tim got to the outside of him he turned down so we ended up fourth."

The fourth-place finish was a strong end to the weekend for Sides, who opened the action on Thursday at Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Run, Minn., by qualifying 27th quickest. He advanced from 10th to seventh place in a heat race, which relegated him to the Last Chance Showdown. Sides maneuvered from 10th to fourth place in the consolation race to garner a transfer into the A Main.

"We started 22nd and were up to around 15th when the rain came about three laps in," he said. "They are going to run the remainder of the race this Thursday."

Sides then made a visit to Jackson Motorplex in Jackson, Minn., on Friday. He qualified second quickest, but finished where he started - sixth - in a heat race. That missed making the feature inversion by two positions and lined him up 17th in the main event.

"The track was heavy and one lane so it was really tough to pass," he said. "They told me after that it hadn't been that heavy all year so it was just bad luck for us."

Sides ended the night 15th.

Following Thursday's show at Deer Creek Speedway, Sides will then race on Friday and Saturday at Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wis., for the FVP Platinum Battery Showdown with the World of Outlaws.

Hanks Excited for ASCS Red River Doubleheader at Wichita and Superbowl

Inside Line Promotions - BURLISON, Tenn. (July 5, 2017) - Brandon Hanks is venturing to Texas this weekend for an ASCS Red River Region doubleheader.

Hanks, who is the defending ASCS Red River Region champion, will compete on Friday at Wichita Speedway in Iowa Park and on Saturday at Superbowl Speedway in Greenville. It will mark his season debut at both tracks.

Hanks enters the weekend riding a four-race top-10 streak, which was started by his first career top five in a 410ci winged sprint car.

"I feel relaxed coming off a vacation," he joked. "Riding the momentum we have right now I think we can do better than just top 10s. The downside of it is not being in the car back-to-back weeks. You have to get back in a rhythm of things. However, we've gotten a lot faster and been more consistent during the summer."

Hanks scored a fifth-place result at Superbowl Speedway last season and he produced a 12th-place result at Wichita Speedway during his lone visit in 2015.

"I'm excited to race with the ASCS Red River Region again," he said. "I enjoyed racing with the series last season when we won our first championship and it'll be fun to race with those guys this weekend."

Hagar Hangs Tough for USCS Triumph at Lexington 104 Speedway

Inside Line Promotions - LEXINGTON, Tenn. (July 5, 2017) - Derek Hagar scored his fourth feature victory of the season last Sunday at Lexington 104 Speedway, where he had to hold off veteran Sammy Swindell for the triumph during the USCS Series event.

Hagar advanced from sixth to fourth in a dash and from fourth to second place in a heat race to open the night. He ranked fourth in overall points and gained the pole position for the main event after the No. 4 was drawn for the feature inversion.

"It was nerve wracking because you've got Sammy Swindell back there watching you," he said. "I was taking my chances with lapped cars and putting my nose where it shouldn't have been, but you do that when you have a World of Outlaws champion on you. I was making my moves as quick and as smooth as I could. I just had to stay on top of my game."

Hagar did just that as he led from start to finish.

"Lexington fit our racing style with a slick and racy track," he said. "We got a good handle on it and rebounded very nice from Saturday's event."

Hagar kicked off the weekend the previous night at Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Ark., where he placed second in the dash and third in a heat race. That lined him up eighth in the main event.

"We didn't have the best car," he said. "We were way, way too tight. It's something we've been fighting this year at Riverside. We just haven't seemed to figure it out. It was a disappointing night."

Hagar battled for a top 10 throughout the night before ending ninth.

He was slated to wrap up the weekend on Monday at Clayhill Motorsports in Atwood, Tenn., but the event rained out.

Hagar will compete this Friday at Columbus Speedway in Columbus, Miss., and Saturday at Whynot Motorsports in Meridian, Miss., with the USCS Series.

Seratt Motorsports Scores Top 5’s in USCS Modified Competition

Dyersburg, Tennessee (07/06/17) – Jim Seratt Racing with drivers, Preston Seratt and Ashley Newman, were able to dodge Mother Nature to enter a single event over the Fourth of July weekend.

The team competed at Lexington 104 Speedway, where the duo came away with a pair of Top-5 finishes.

Piloting the Jim Seratt Racing entries, Preston Seratt and Ashley Newman visited Lexington 104 Speedway (Lexington, Kentucky) on Sunday for the USCS Outlaw Modified-sanctioned program. Starting the night off with a heat race win, Seratt locked his spot into Dash, while Newman landed a 2nd-place finish, securing his spot into Dash.

Preston cruised to a dash win in his J&P Machine Repair #29 MBR Chassis/ Mullins Race Engines Modified, locking him into the 4th-starting position for the feature.

Meanwhile, Newman scored a 3rd-place finish in the dash, earning him the 2nd-starting spot for the Firecracker 100 feature in his DC Electric Rebuilders #73 MBR Chassis/ Mullins Race Engines Modified.

Recording a pair of Top-5 finishes in the finale, Preston Seratt posted a 2nd-place finish behind Matt Cooper, while Ashley Newman came in 4th behind Kenny Schrader.

Monday’s USCS sanctioned Fireworks 150 at Clayhill Speedway (Atwood, Tennessee) was washed out by wet conditions.

“I battled with Matt [Cooper] for the lead early in the feature, but a little bobble allowed him to take control of the spot,” Preston Seratt said. “We are still a little off from where we need to be on the cars, but we are getting there. We’ve got a really great team, and I can’t thank my dad as well as Ashley enough for the time and investment that they make to get the cars to the track each week.”
