Austin Theiss and Bob Hass Join Forces

Hockley, Texas (11/20/17) – Austin Theiss and veteran car owner Bob Hass have joined forces with their Dirt Late Model operations for the remainder of 2017 as well as the complete 2018 campaign.

“This is a really exciting opportunity for my racing career,” Theiss said. “Mr. Bob (Hass) wants to make a splash on the national scene, and with our efforts combined it makes it feasible for both of us to venture to new events and new areas.”

Theiss will bring his 2017 XR1 Rocket Chassis and two Vic Hill Racing Engines to the table, while Hass will also furnish a 2017 XR1 Rocket Chassis as well as a pair of Clements Racing Engines.

“I love racing and always have,” Hass noted. “Now that I’m retired I’ve got more time to travel. I don’t want to be gone all the time, but I hope to hit several events with Austin (Theiss). I think he’s a talented young driver, who just needs more seat time to show his full potential. That’s going to be our immediate goal as we move forward.”

Hass has fielded Super Late Model and Modified entries for multiple drivers over the years. Notable pilots include Wendell Wallace, Robbie Starnes, and Hass’ son Robby.

With a few recent events already under their belt, the team has a couple of races still remaining on the 2017 docket. They will compete with the COMP Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS) Super Late Model tour on November 25 at Lone Star Speedway (Kilgore, Texas) before rounding out the season on December 14-16 with the second annual VP Racing Fuels Gateway Dirt Nationals at the Dome at America’s Center (St. Louis, Missouri).

The 2018 season will kick off in early January with the annual Wild West Shootout at Arizona Speedway (Queen Creek, Arizona). From there the team plans to compete in the World of Outlaws Craftsman Late Model Series events during Speedweeks.

Other tentative events on the long-term schedule for next season include the UMP DIRTcar Summernationals and Ray Cook’s Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals.

“Next year will no doubt be my most aggressive schedule to date,” Theiss proudly stated. “I’m going to do everything in my power to capitalize on this great opportunity.”

For Hass he knows the biggest challenge for the joint venture is to overcome the geographic disadvantage that the team battles.

“Living in south Texas is no doubt a challenge, because there’s not much Dirt Late Model racing around here,” Hass commented. “As a result, we’re definitely going to target races, where we can hit the road and hit multiple events while we’re in a given area. The bottom line is that we all know that we have to run this as a business, and be smart with our decisions.”

The team is currently seeking additional marketing partners for the remainder of the 2017 season as well as the 2018 campaign. Interested parties can reach Austin at 281-793-8811.
