Morgan Turpen wins the USCS Hurricane Hustle I finale at Flomaton Speedway on Saturday.

Flomaton, AL – April 15, 2017 - Two-time and defending United Sprint Car Series National Champion Morgan Turpen of Cordova, Tennessee won the USCS Outlaw Thunder Tour Hurricane Hustle I finale at Flomaton Speedway to make her second trip of the weekend to the www.RockAuto.com USCS Victory Lane on Saturday night. Turpen started from the K&N Filters Pole Position, then led all 30 laps of the race to also collect her third win of the young 2017 season after winning the opener on March 3rd at Hattiesburg Speedway. The win was Turpen’s 15th career USCS feature win.

Veteran Midwest sprint car racer and Hall of Famer Danny Smith from Chillicothe, Ohio scored his second runner-up finish of the weekend racing across the finish line just ahead of the evening’s BKW Construction Company quick qualifier and USCS Hoosier Speed Dash winner, Jordon “The Jet” Mallett from Greenbrier, Arkansas. The two battled the entire distance for the runner-up spot, but, at the end Mallett collected the K&N Filters Podium Award for third.

Todd Fayard from D’Iberville, Mississippi had his best USCS Outlaw Thunder Tour weekend in this writer’s memory and brought his #13 home in the fourth position after winning the Engler Machine and Tool First Heat earlier in the night. Eleven-time USCS National Champion, Terry Gray from Bartlett, Tennessee battled back and forth with Fayard for position the entire distance as well and raced across the finish line in fifth place.

2016 USCS Rookie of the Year contender, Scott Hunter from Concord, North Carolina led the next group with an impressive run for a sixth-place finish. Fifteen-year-old 2016 USCS Rookie of the Year, Danny Sams III from Englewood, Florida followed Hunter across the finish line.  Sams III got involved in an early race spin on his own and had to go to the rear of the field for the re-start. Then late in the race, he was collected in another car’s spin, but, recovered to finish seventh. The 2012 USCS Rookie of the Year, Jeff Willingham from Ripley, Mississippi followed Hunter and Sams III in eighth place. Tony Agin from Ft. Myers, Florida hustled to a ninth-place finish in his back-up car and Bob Auld from Largo, Florida rounded out the top ten drivers.

In Saturday night’s preliminary action, Jordon Mallett warmed up the crowd with a fast time of 11.013 seconds in the BKW Construction Company Time Trial Qualifying portion of the event around the racy ¼ mile clay oval. Mallett, who looked like he was on a mission, streaked to an impressive win in the six-lap USCS Hoosier Speed Dash for the top six cars from the previous evening. Todd Fayard won in the Engler Machine and Tool First eight-lap Heat Race. In other preliminary action, Danny Smith then raced to victory in th Brown and Miller Racing Solutions Second eight-lap Heat Race.

In other USCS series action, teenager Caden Englehart from Indialantic, Florida won the 20-lap www.rockauto.com USCS Mini Sprint feature race.It was the first career USC win.
