For immediate release: USCS Outlaw Sprint Cars and Late Models Headline Dixie Speedway Racing Saturday (7/16)

Woodstock, GA – September 6, 2017 - The United Sprint Car Series Outlaw Thunder Tour presented by K&N Filters winged sprint cars invade historic Dixie Speedway in Woodstock, Georgia for the Dixie Sprint Car Nationals 2017 on this -Saturday, September 9th at 7:00 pm. 

The event is expected to draw sprint car drivers from seven to nine states and awards National, Mid-South regional series and Southern regional series points.  Several past National and regional series Champions from the USCS are entered as well as past Rookie of the Year drivers and the region’s top drivers.
 

USCS Outlaw Thunder Tour Rookie of the Year points leader, Brandon Taylor from Cumming, Georgia won the www.rockauto.com USCS 600 Sprint Car Series mini sprint portion of the 2015 USCS event. 

The 2011 USCS Rookie of the Year and 2016 National Sprint League 360 Sprint Car Champion, Jordon Mallett from Greenbrier, Arkansas currently leads the USCS National sprint car standings. Mallett has six visits to the www.rockauto.com USCS Victory Lane during the 2017 season including last Sunday night’s USCS event at Lavonia Speedway.

Twenty-four-year old female sprint car racer Morgan Turpen from Cordova, Tennessee is the series defending Champion. She is also the 2017 USCS wins leader. Turpen has nine 2017 victories. She is also the event Champion at Dixie Speedway. She is also the team-mate of her car owner who is eleven-time USCS National Champion Terry Gray from Bartlett, Tennessee. Gray has won several past USCS events at Dixie Speedway and trails Mallett in the USCS National point standings in 2nd place by less than 40 points coming into this weekend’s Dixie Speedway even

Another expected entry is past USCS Outlaw Thunder Tour Dixie Speedway feature winner, twenty-three-year old, Eric Riggins, Jr, from Charlotte, North Carolina. Also entered are Rookie of the Year contenders Brandon Taylor from Cummng, Georgia and Scott Hunter from Concord, North Carolina. The 2012 Rookie of the Year Jeff Willingham from Ripley, Mississippi, past Rookie of the Year regional drivers Jake McLain from Matthews, North Carolina and Lee Moore from Tuscaloosa, Alabama are all entered as is past Southern Outlaw Sprint series Rookie of the Year, Joey Schmidt from Ellisville, Mississippi.

Also expected are several veterans of the USCS sprint car wars including Flyin’ Brian Thomas of Pendergrass, Georgia, who ranks fourth in the USCS Southern Thunder Tour regional series standings. Joining the field as well is veteran USCS racer Joe Larkin from Suwannee, Georgia  Also entered is ageless driver Ray Bugg from Iuka, Mississippi.

In addition to the USCS sprint car division, Dixie Speedway will feature a late model and stock car racing program including Steelhead Late Models, Crate Late Models, Super-Bombers and Econo-Bombers plus the Stinger division.

Admission is $20 for adults in the grandstand ($3 discount with any Coca Cola product bottle cap) with children 8 years old and under free, and 9-17 years old just $6. Trackside admission is $25 per adult and $11 per child (11 years and under). Pit passes are $30 per adult and $11 per child (11 years and under).
Gates will open at 5 PM, with racing beginning at 7 PM
