Atlanta, GA – November 24, 2017 – Jordon Mallett from Greenbrier, Arkansas will wear the crown as the United Sprint Car Series presented by K&N Filters Outlaw Thunder Tour National Champion of the twenty-first and 2017 racing season. The young sprint car driver made six visits to the www.rockauto.com USCS victory lane as the series feature winner during 2017. Mallett had 24 top five finishes and a total of 34 top ten finishes while he used a record of perfect attendance during the forty events to accumulate the most Championship points. Mallett will collect top honors in two dirt divisions of the USCS points system including the USCS Southern Thunder regional dirt series as well. He finished in second place in the USCS Deep South Thunder Tour and in third place in the USCS Mid-South regional series standings. Mallett finished the National title chase with 5726 National Championship points.

Eleven-time USCS National Champion, Terry Gray from Bartlett, Tennessee who had 5601 points followed Mallett in the runner-up position in the final standings. Gray also had a solid season with 18 top five finishes and the results found him 32 times in the top ten. As a team owner he faired even better, as his team-mate Morgan Turpen had a series leading nine wins.

In addition to her nine wins, the two-time and the defending series Champion, Morgan Turpen from Cordova, Tennessee had 22 of her finishes in the top five and she had 32 top ten finishes to earn enough points with 5142 points to place her third in the final National point standings although she missed four events. Turpen, who was the series 2010 Rookie of the Year, additionally continued four straight seasons of Championship runs as she did garner titles in both the tough USCS Mid-South and the new USCS Deep South regional series.

The 2012 USCS Rookie of the Year, Jeff Willingham from Ripley, Mississippi finished the 2017 season in fourth position. He will also collect fourth place honors in the USCS Deep South Thunder regional series to go with a top five (5th) in the USCS Southern Thunder Tour and sixth place honors in the USCS Mid-South Thunder regional series during the January USCS banquet in Atlanta.

Ft. Myers, Florida’s traveling sprint car racer Tony Agin possibly towed the most miles to USCS 2017 events in his first full season as a United Sprint Car Series regular. Agin improved on past season performances and garnered enough Championship points along the way to finish in fifth place in the National point standings.  Agin will also receive accolades as the fifth-place finisher in the new USCS Deep South Thunder Tour portion of the schedule. He finished sixth in the
USCS Southern Thunder and seventh in the USCS Mid-South regional series as well.

Veteran USCS driver, Brian Thomas from Pendergrass, Georgia finished in sixth place in the National point standings. Thomas also finished in the top five in the USCS Southern Thunder Tour standings in fourth place after a string of top ten finishes and a perfect attendance record in that regional series.

Seventeen-year-old Brandon Taylor from Cumming, Georgia, who was the 2013 UCS 600 Sprint Car Series mini sprint Rookie of the Year, garnered the 2017 United Sprint Car Series presented by K&N Filters National Rookie of the Year honors. The award goes annually to the driver who has earned the most Championship points during their first season of competition prior to competing in 25 sprint car events. Taylor had a couple of top five and seven top ten finishes. Taylor also had some other impressive runs that resulted in DNF’s for mechanical reasons or he would have finished even higher. The USCS sprint car Rookie of the Year also pulled double duty some nights and had enough points in the USS Mini Sprints to finish sixth in the standings and pick up a win as well.at Senoia Raceway.

The 2016 USCS “Rookie of the Year”, fifteen-year-old Danny Sams III from Northport, Florida had a pair of top five finishes in second place and 13 top ten finishes to finish in eighth place in the final National standings while garnering ninth place in the USCS Southern Thunder regional series. The talented young gun would have possibly finished much higher after a third-place finish in 2016 in the National standings, but, a mid-season engine failure kept him out of competition for several weeks.

The 2013 USCS Outlaw Thunder Tour presented by K&N Filters National Champion, Derek Hagar from Marion, Arkansas placed ninth in the USCS 2017 National standings, Hagar raced primarily in the Mid-South regional series but, ventured out several times and collected six 2017 feature wins in USCS competition along the way. He had 13 top five and 14 top 10 finishes on the season as well. Hagar finished in second place in the USCS Mid-South Thunder Tour regional series just 19 points behind USCS Mid-South Champion Morgan Turpen. He also finished in sixth place in the new USCS Deep South regional series.

Veteran USCS competitor Joe Larkin from Suwannee, Georgia who mostly competed in the Southern Thunder region, also joined the field for several Mid-South regional series weekends.
