USCS congratulates Terry Gray Racing team on Sprint Car Hall of Fame 2017 “Team of the Year” nomination

Atlanta, GA - December 29, 2017 - Accolades and congratulations go out to 11-time United Sprint Car Series presented by K&N Filters Champion Terry Gray of Bartlett, Tennessee as the car owner of the two-car Terry Gray Racing team for their nomination as one of only two of the winged 360 sprint car teams in North America to be nominated for the 2017 National Sprint Car Hall of Fame 360 sprint car “Team of the Year” award.  Gray owned and maintaned two of the top three cars in the final USCS National point standings including his own familiar #10 sprint car and the #10m car driven by two-time (2015 & 2016) series National Champion and 2017 season USCS win totals leader, Morgan Turpen of Cordova, Tennessee. Turpen won nine times in USCS Outlaw Thunder Tour competition to lead that statistic and finished third in the final National point standings although missing several events due to other commitments. Gray finished in the runner-up spot of the final USCS Outlaw Thunder Tour National standings.

The “Team of the Year” award is voted on at the end of each season by the 360 sprint car poll members from the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame and recognizes the team that has consistently and reliably maintained the most competitive winged 360 cubic inch sprint car operation for that season.

As a team, Terry Gray Racing had another stellar season. After 40 USCS events, their 2017 USCS results showed that his team-mate, 24-year old Morgan Turpen from Cordova, Tennessee made United Sprint Car Series presented by K&N Filters and sprint car racing history again during the 2017 season by becoming the first woman to ever win nine events in one season. Turpen also continued her series title run by also winning two of the USCS regional series titles. She captured Championships in both the tough USCS Mid-South Thunder Tour regional series and wears the crown of the new USCS Deep South region Champion as well. Gray himself finished in the runner-up spot in the NTIONl title chase and finished behind eventual Champion Jordon Mallett from Greenbrier, Arkansas who captured his first series title after a season-long battle with Gray for the crown.

The final Terry Gray Racing team USCS stats show that as a team the duo tallied nine USCS main event wins additionally Gray himself won an I-30 Speedway event during 2017. As a complete USCS set of stats they teamed for forty top five and sixty-four top-ten finishes. The 2015 and 2016 USCS National Champion, Morgan Turpen had her best season making trips to the www.rockauto.com USCS Victory Lane with nine main-event wins plus twenty-two top-five and thirty-two top-ten finishes. Terry Gray had eighteen top-five and thirty-two top-ten finishes in USCS competition during the 2017 racing season.

Gray gives much of the credit for their competitive success to the performance and reliability of their Wesmar Racing Engines power-plants, Engler Machine and Tool fuel systems and to the J&J Auto Racing chassis they used.
