Landon Crawley Prepares for Mini Sprint Debut

Benton, Arkansas (03/01/17) – After a successful practice session last week, 9-year-old Landon Crawley will make his debut in the Mini Sprint division this Saturday. After a winning stint in Go-Karts, the second generation racer is ready to take the next step in his very young racing career.

“I enjoyed racing Go-Karts, but after the first practice in the Mini Sprint, I love the power and feel of the car,” said an excited Landon Crawley. “Ever since I can remember, I’ve been at the track with my dad [Tim Crawley] watching him race Sprint Cars. It’s my dream to reach that division one day, and hopefully this is the next step in that process.”

Landon’s dad and multi-time national Sprint Car champion, Tim Crawley, had originally planned to take things a big slower with his son’s progression into the Mini Sprint. However, a successful practice session at Riverside International Speedway (West Memphis, Arkansas) last Sunday changed his outlook.

“He got his first laps on Sunday at Riverside, and I was really impressed with his performance,” noted Tim. “We were initially just anticipating practice sessions at his first few events, and we still might stick to just that. However, from what I’ve seen so far I think I’m going to let him take part in the racing event, and just line up at the back of a race if he’s comfortable.”

Landon is scheduled to make his official debut in his #187 Mini Sprint this Saturday, March 4 at Magnolia Motor Speedway (Columbus, Mississippi) with the United Sprint Car Series (USCS) Mini Sprints. For more information on the event, please visit www.MagnoliaDirt.com .

“I’m not nervous because I like to go fast, and I’m ready to learn a lot more about racing this season,” concluded the youngster.

Landon Crawley would like to thank his sponsors, which include AMC Plumbing, Senter Farms, XRG Graphics, Xtreme Towing, Stealth Recovery, Southern Renovations, Mid State Golf Cars, RE Technologies, James Auto Collision, and MSR Mafia Marketing Services.

Rilat Posts Pair of Podiums During Ronald Laney Memorial King of the 360s

Inside Line Promotions - TAMPA, Fla. (Feb. 28, 2017) - Travis Rilat came up just short of capturing the 16th annual Ronald Laney Memorial King of the 360s crown last weekend at East Bay Raceway Park.

Rilat led with six laps remaining during the $10,000-to-win ASCS Southern Outlaw Sprints finale on Saturday before a tire issue relegated him to a third-place finish.

"I wasn't too happy after the race, but after thinking about it it wasn't a bad way to start the year," he said. "We led laps during two out of the three nights, came away with two podiums and didn't tear anything up."

Rilat started the tripleheader just as strong as he ended it. The action began last Thursday when Rilat charged from ninth to fourth place during a heat race, which was good enough to lock him into the feature redraw. He then pulled the No. 2 to start the 25-lap main event on the outside of the front row.

"We had a lot of bad luck along the way to the track with blowing tires on the trailer and then we drew the No. 69 during the pill draw, which put us at the back of the heat," he said. "Lady Luck was on our side as a couple of cars dropped out and we were able to move up and make the redraw. That set the tone for the weekend."

Rilat capitalized on the good draw by quickly powering into the lead. He led the first eight laps of the race before being slowed in traffic, which allowed Mark Smith to take over the top spot. Rilat remained in striking distance, but a late-race effort to regain the lead allowed another driver to drop Rilat to a third-place finish.

"I was able to get lead on the start of the race, but Smith had a great car," he said. "We needed a bit more. That was one we really wanted to win."

Rilat continued to run up front on Friday during the second night of competition by winning his heat race from the pole. That lined him up 14 th for the main event. Unfortunately, the track took rubber early and didn't allow for much passing. Rilat finished where he started, but it was good enough to rank sixth in overall event points to lock into the feature redraw for Saturday's finale.

Once again, Rilat came out of the feature redraw on the front row as he pulled the No. 1 for the 40-lap main event.

"Our car was pretty good and we took the lead on Lap 4," he said. "I figured Mark Smith and Terry McCarl would be hot on our tail. Mark was able to get around us and we swapped the lead several times. We had a good car and he had a great car. He made a few better moves."

Rilat led 10 laps before he and Smith featured several laps in a row of slide jobs. Smith then led the middle portion of the race with Rilat in tow before a caution with nine laps remaining gave the front runners open track.

Rilat pounced on the restart as he took over the lead by running the outside groove. He began to pull away the next two laps before Smith closed the gap on Lap 34 and took the lead on the ensuing lap.

"We had about five pounds of air in the right rear tire when we came in," Rilat said. "The bleeder let out more air than it needed so I had trouble getting off turn four. It was a very exciting race to part in, but I really, really wanted to win."

Rilat finished third to post his second podium finish of the season in his first three races.

He is slated to return to action March 17-18 at Devil's Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas, for the 44th annual Spring Nationals with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour.

Sides Garners Top 10 During Ronald Laney Memorial King of the 360s for Sixth Straight Season

Inside Line Promotions - TAMPA, Fla. (Feb. 28, 2017) - Jason Sides recorded a top-10 result during the Ronald Laney Memorial King of the 360s finale for the sixth straight season last weekend at East Bay Raceway Park.

Sides kicked off the 16th edition of the ASCS Southern Outlaw Sprints tripleheader, which featured more than 60 competitors, on Thursday by rebounding from an early crash in a heat race to charge from seventh to third place. That earned enough points to lock into the feature redraw, where Sides pulled the No. 5 to start the 25-lap main event on the inside of the third row.

"We were caught up in a mess at the start of the heat, but came back strong from that to get into the feature redraw," he said. "That's what you are aiming for to start the night so you have a shot in the main event. I thought we had a little better car for the feature, but the others in front of me were just a little faster. A top five was still good though and we came out of the night good in points."

Sides posted a fourth-place finish, which marked his first top five of the season.

He ventured to the bullring on Friday for the second preliminary night, which began with Sides advancing from seventh to fifth place in a heat race. That relegated him to a B Main, in which he powered from fifth to second place to score the final transfer into the main event.

"The track began taking rubber in the B Mains," he said. "In the main event it rubbered up and there wasn't much passing. If we'd have gained a couple more positions we'd have been close to locking in (to Saturday's feature redraw)."

Sides placed 18th in Friday's main event, which ranked him 12 th in overall points to miss locking into Saturday's feature redraw by six positions. That forced him to run a heat race on Saturday to open the action. Sides claimed the heat race win to lock into the 12 th starting position for the 40-lap main event.

"We fell back early," he said. "We got a couple of spots and coming off turn two Terry McCarl came off the cushion and about hit the wall. It stacked up a few cars during that melee and it took me a little to get back going again. Then the track cleaned off about halfway through and our car came on late."

Sides overcame the early issue to rebound with an eighth-place result, giving him a top 10 during the event finale each year dating back to 2012.

"It's always a fun time down there with Al and all the people at East Bay and Kimball and his team at Wetherington Tractor Service, Inc.," he said. "He helps us out a lot and doesn't get to come out to see us race a whole lot. This is three races in their backyard so it's important to go there and run well.

"I also want to thank Brad Roller for loaning us a 360ci engine to use and for his support of our race team."

Sides will return to World of Outlaws action this Friday at Lone Star Speedway in Kilgore, Texas, for the East Texas Lone Star Shootout and Saturday at Gator Motorplex in Willis, Texas, for the Gator Bash.

White Captures Top 10 During Ronald Laney Memorial King of the 360s Debut

Inside Line Promotions - TAMPA, Fla. (Feb. 28, 2017) - Harli White was on point last weekend during the 16th annual Ronald Laney Memorial King of the 360s hosted by East Bay Raceway Park.

White kicked off the season at the ASCS Southern Outlaw Sprints tripleheader, which began on Thursday when White won a heat race after starting from the pole position. That locked her into the 14th starting position in the main event.

"We had a great start to the night and were running around where we started in the main event when we made contact with another driver," she said. "We kept going, but it damaged the front end and a few laps later it broke so we had a DNF."

White, who was credited with an 18th-place finish, returned to the oval on Friday for Round 2. She maneuvered from fourth to second place in a heat race to miss advancing into the feature redraw by only one position. That lined her up on the inside of the fifth row for the 25-lap main event.

"The track began taking rubber in the B Mains so there wasn't much passing in the main event," she said. "Everyone got in line and pretty much ran where they started. We were able to pick up one position and finish eighth. It was great to earn a top 10 during our first weekend of the season, especially when there were 60 other drivers battling it out."

White ranked eighth in event points following the two preliminary nights, which was only two positions shy of locking into Saturday's feature redraw. However, White won a heat race from the pole on Saturday to advance into the 40-lap main event.

"We got a great start and were into the top five within the first three or four laps," she said. "We advanced into third place a few laps later and ran there for a while, but I could tell the engine was laying down. We faded to fifth before a red flag came out with nine laps remaining and as soon as I stopped the engine died and the temperature gauge was pegged. It stinks that we were that close and had a failure that was out of control."

White finished 18th.

"I didn't have any expectations going into the event so it was great to make the show each night," she said. "It was a bummer we had two DNFs, but we're taking a ton of positive from our first weekend of the season. It really gets me excited for what is to come for this season."

White is scheduled to make her debut in Mississippi this weekend on Friday at Hattiesburg Speedway in Hattiesburg and Saturday at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus with the USCS Series.
