Bub McCool Claims First Career PRO Series Win

(Meridian, Mississippi) – Bub McCool overcame a furious midrace challenge from Jimbo McDuffie and David Breazeale to claim the $2,000 win in Round #3 of the Four Crown Nationals at Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, Mississippi.

A stout field of thirty-seven Super Late Models assembled at Rodney Wing’s Whynot Motorsports Park for Round #3 of the Four Crown Nationals. For the third straight night, Bub McCool blazed to the Southern Belle Pole Qualifier Award. He was joined on the front row by Jason Cliburn.

It was McCool, who got a great jump at the start of the race to lead the first lap over Cliburn, Ronny Lee Hollingsworth, Jimbo McDuffie, and Chad Thrash. As McCool jumped to the early lead Hollingsworth and McDuffie began to battle side by side for the second spot as various two and three wide battles reigned supreme through the field.

By lap three Cliburn disposed of Hollingsworth in the battle for the second spot as he found himself ten car lengths behind the leader. With McCool maintaining the lead, the first several laps would see great racing throughout the field, and by lap 8, McCool was already entering lapped traffic.

With the leaders working lapped traffic, it was David Breazeale, who was on the move, and by the time that the event’s lone caution flew on lap 15 as Bradley Price rolled to a stop in turn three. The caution eliminated McCool’s large lead with Cliburn, McDuffie, Hollingsworth, and Breazeale making up the top five in the running order.

Total chaos would ensue on the restart as the field flared three and even four wide for position with the green flag in the air. McDuffie raced past Cliburn for second as Cliburn began to fade. With McCool on the hub and McDuffie on the cushion the duo raced furiously for the lead as Breazeale raced his way into the third position and joined the battle for the lead.

Two laps later on the seventeenth circuit, McDuffie overtook McCool for the lead, and one lap later Breazeale would rocket to the second spot past McCool.

Despite slipping to third, Bub McCool would stay committed to the bottom, and on lap 22 he would race past Breazeale and McDuffie to return to the lead. He would never relinquish it as he went on to lead the remaining laps en route to his first win of the 2010 season in his #57J Victory Circle Chassis. Breazeale, Hollingsworth, Chad Thrash, and McDuffie rounded out the top five.

Round #4 of the Four Crown Nationals will be held on Sunday, July 4th at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, Mississippi. For more information, please visit www.MagnoliaMotorSpeedway.net, www.PRODirtcarSeries.com, and www.NeSmithRacing.com .
