Pleasant spring weather again was in the air for the fans and drivers in attendance at the speedway for night two of the 2014 race schedule.

Two new hornet cars belonging to Corey Howell and Kyler VanScoy took to the track along with opening night feature winner Josh Williamson for this evening’s Hornet feature race. Howell led the field entering turn one of the opening lap and led the first three circuits of the track before Williamson made his move for the lead. Diving down to the bottom of the track, Williamson slid up in front of Howell and never looked back on the way to his second consecutive feature win. Howell pressed Williamson hard through lap eleven but slowly slipped back from the leader over the closing laps.

Hornet Final Results: 1) #114 Josh Williamson, 2) #73H Corey Howell, 3) #00 Kyler VanScoy

All four Pure Stock drivers stayed tightly packed through the first four laps of their feature race. Polesitter Dylan Pinson began to pull away from the fight for second on lap five, leaving Larry West and Jimmie Blair several car-lengths behind as they battled for position. Blair got past West on lap seven and both Blair and West closed the gap on Pinson running nose to tail with the leader through lap ten. Opening night winner Seaman began to struggle on lap nine and exited the track for good on lap eleven. Blair pressured Pinson heavily through lap sixteen before Pinson pulled out to the victory.

Pure Stock Final Results: 1) #89 Dylan Pinson, 2) #2X Jimmie Blair, 3) #7L Larry West, 4) #T10 Matt Seaman

Jason Brigman held the pole for the USRA sanctioned B-Modified feature race. Brigman pulled out in front of Lonnie Judd and never slowed as he led the race from start to finish. Monty Hambleton brought out the yellow flag with rear end problems on lap five, and when the green waved again Brigman wasted no time pulling out to a sizeable advantage over Judd as the laps ticked by.

USRA B-Modified Final Results: 1) #24B Jason Brigman, 2) #10 Lonnie Judd, 3) #22M Monty Hambelton

In the Hobby feature race, opening night winner Hunter Duren started outside the front row and passed polesitter Richard Carson entering turn one setting up a race-long battle between the two drivers.  Carson stalked Duren through lap eight looking for a way to take over the lead and with the two cars side by side at the line on lap nine Carson held a slight advantage. Duren retook the lead on the following circuit and the two raced door to door through lap eleven. Carson managed to pull almost even with Duren circling the speedway on laps thirteen and fourteen but again Duren pulled out to a slight advantage. With the white flag flying, Carson drove to the bottom of the track entering turn one and pulled out to the lead off turn two down the back straight, outdistancing Duren back to the start/finish line to claim the win.

Hobby Stock Final Results: 1) #29 Richard Carson, 2) #2 Hunter Duren, 3) #45 Matt Bolen

Chris Piper sat on the pole for the start of the Super Stock feature with Mark Shockley immediately to Piper’s right and it was Shockley who held the lead entering turns one and two. Piper and Joe Davenport chased Shockley through lap nine and Piper even got to the inside of the leader exiting turn four on lap ten before the first of three cautions came out, this one for debris on the speedway. Piper tried to drive low into turn one on the restart but Shockley held his line and the lead exiting turn two until lap twelve when the caution lights came on again for a spin by Damon Mayfield in turn one. As the next two green flag laps were run Mayfield made it past Eric Hopper for position before Hopper brought out the final yellow flag on lap sixteen with his solo spin off turn four. Shockley pulled away from Piper on the final restart leaving Piper to fend off Davenport over the closing laps.

Super Stock Final Results: 1) #43 Mark Shockley, 2) #48 Chris Piper, 3) #28 Joe Davenport, 4) #88 Damon Mayfield, 5) #21 Eric Hopper
