Kyle Beard Tops COMP Cams Super Dirt Series at Hammer Hill

Little Rock, Arkansas (06/24/16) – The COMP Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS) presented by Lucas Oil opened a two-night stand at I-30 Speedway on Friday night, and it was two-time series champ, Kyle Beard, who surged to the $1,500 victory.

With 26-entries on hand at Tracey Clay’s ¼-mile bullring, Jack Sullivan earned the New Vision Graphics Pole Award for the 30-lap affair. The defending CCSCS champion was joined on the front row for the finale by Tommy Surrett.

Sullivan grabbed the lead as the race went green and would pace the first fourteen circuits before bad luck bit him on lap-14, when he spun from the top spot. He would rejoin the tail of the field.

Surrett inherited the point, but his time at the front would only last for a single time around the oval as Beard raced into the lead on lap-16. Once out front the Trumann, Arkansas racer cruised to a 2.7 second victory over Wendell Wallace, Hunter Rasdon, Kyle Cummings, and Tommy Surrett.

The triumph was his Beard’s first of the year on the tour and the 12th of his career.

Black Diamond Race Cars Heat Race #1 was won by Garrett Alberson with Allen Manufacturing Heat Race #2 being claimed by Larry Campbell. Hoosier Tire South Heat Race #3 was won by Jack Sullivan, while Kyle Beard won Lucas Oil Heat Race #4.

Mark Martin Powersports B-Main #1 was topped by Brandon Smith with Nate Jantz winning Arctic Cat B-Main #2.

The Larry Shaw Race Cars Hard Charger Award went to Chandler Petty, who had advanced eleven positions to finish 7th. Sullivan was awarded the Henryetta Ford Hard Luck Award for his ill luck while leading.

On Saturday, June 25 a $2,000-to-win/ $400-to-start, 40-lap event is scheduled for the CCSDS competitors at I-30 Speedway. The B-Mains and $2,000-to-win/ $200-to-start, Scrapp Fox Memorial finale for the IMCA Modified class will be held. Bumper to Bumper Super Stocks and Factory Stocks will also be on the card. Adult grandstand admission is $20 with kids (6-12 years-of-age) $1 when accompanied by an adult. Pit passes are $30.
