– By Kelly Brown –Public Relations Director – Usually the first victory of the season is the most difficult, but when you get one, they start to stack up. For Jerrod Hull this statement could not be truer. The two time-O’Reilly Midwest All Star Champion was winless over the first part of the season, but now as the summer is coming to an end the driver of the 12 sprinter is picking up momentum for what could be a third championship.

When the A-main took the Green Flag pole-sitter Kody Kinser got the edge going into Turn 1 as AJ Bruns, Tom Bush and Jerrod Hull tucked in behind him. It would not take Hull much time though to make his charge to the front. First he got around Bush, and then set his sights on Bruns. All the while Kinser got comfortable in the lead and held on to it almost to the end.

There were two caution flags that would fly during the evening. The first was for the 10w of Tony Wilson who slowed and pulled off the track early in the event. The second came late in the race when Shane Wade made contact with Scott Williams. The restart on Lap 21 was the turning point of the race as Kinser looked to be on the way to his first Midwest All Star win of the season.

On the restart Kinser jumped out to the lead over Hull, but it appeared that the young Kinser’s car was better on the longer runs and there were only nine laps left. Hull was on the back of Kinser, sizing him up looking for a way around him. On Lap 24 Hull pulled to Kinser’s inside and just as they passed the line to click off the 25th lap, Hull took the lead. Kinser tried to battle back, but would come five laps short of picking up his the victory.

At the finish line it would be Hull crossing under the Checkered Flag first, with Kinser, Bruns, Bush, and Alex Shanks rounding out the top-5. This was Hull’s tenth career Midwest All Star victory. This also gives Kinser some momentum going to his home track next weekend, Bloomington Speedway.

“On behalf of the O’Reilly Midwest All Star Series I would like to personally thank Tony and Tracy Wilson,” stated O’Reilly Midwest All Star Series Director Scott Petit. “They have been with us all weekend and I really wanted to take the opportunity to thank them for supporting the Midwest All Star Series.”
