THUNDERHILL RACEWAY Top three qualifiers for the Modified Street special were: SMP Open Wheel qualifying Heat Races: Feature Time! The Modified Street class drivers got a LITTLE bit confused when it was time to line up. After qualifying, three cars did NOT cross the scales, therefore they had to take up the rear and they got rows crossed up (the track apologizes for this error and already has a new method ready for this next week concerning lineup and being race ready when they hit the track). Well, with the race finally underway and what a race it was … the drama was only beginning. After two restart and three cautions the finishing order was still up for grabs. Michael Kennedy (K3) who led the first ten laps and crossed the line in second … was DQ’ed when he refused a protest. Steve Yocom led the final ten laps to take the checkered but was also DQ’ed at the scales for being too light. This moved Jimmy Woodard up to the top spot but before he could be declared the winner he got protested. After doing a complete tear down Woodard was found legal and declared the final winner. (1) Jimmy Woodard (2) Shawn Workman (3) Cale Finley (4) Brian Vandygriff (5)) Tim Hobby (6) Robert Ashworth (7)Rodney Himes (8) Jason Maurer (9) Michael Estes (10) Kenneth Martin With the SMP Open Wheel series up next and a field of twenty-two cars … what a race these guys put on. Jason Hughes led the first nine laps but it would be Hunter Rasdon that led laps ten thru thirty to pick up his second win at Thunderhill this season. The Super Late Model division also saw two of your top qualifiers taking up the rear for this event as Jerry Owens was too light at the scales and Ray McEhliney did not cross the scales. Jaybird Marlin led the full twenty-five laps to take win number five in the two caution race. Both came on lap nineteen … first for Daniel West as he spun in turn four then the second when Ryan King took a trip off turn two (1) Jaybird Marlin (2) Eric Hickerson (3) Seth McCormack (4) Jerry Jackson (5)Jerry Owens (6) Donald Johns (7) Jason Clayton (8) Ray McElhiney (9)Ryan King (10) Daniel West From a field of thirteen Street Stocks, Daniel Kelley led the full fifteen laps to pick up win number four for the season. The Mini Stock class saw Joe Burns go green to checkered for his first win of the season in a race with one restart (John Smartt spun in four) and one caution race that come on lap one when Matthew Turner got into the wall. (1) Joe Burns (2)Tommy Wallace (3) Dillon Scott (4) John Smartt (5) Michael Cates (6) Michael Boatman (7) T.J. Wallace (8) Jr. Roland (9) Gary Rhiele (10) Justin Odom (11) Joe Wall (12)Matthew Turner Outlaw Mini class saw Robert McCormack take the first lap but it would be Clyde Petty two thru fifteen in a five-minute caution free race to take his first win at Thunderhill. (1) Clyde Petty What a race in the Open Wheel Mini class as we had three different leader in this fifteen lap race. Timmy Woodard led from the drop of the green thru lap eight but the contact he made with Dustin Stutts as Stutts was making the pass cost him a black flag for rough driving. Stutts led the next two laps but apparently had enough damage to cause him problems; as he started slowing it opened up the door for Burton Graham who was waiting patiently and took the lead and held it for the final five laps to take his third win of the season. Racing every Saturday night.
