Justin Peck wins with late move at Waynesfield Raceway Park

WAYNESFIELD, Ohio (May 15, 2022) - Earning his second Tezos All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 victory in just three starts, Monrovia, Indiana’s Justin Peck capped the three-race All Star swing through Michigan and Ohio with a win at Waynesfield Raceway Park in Waynesfield, Ohio, utilizing a late move in traffic to get by race long leader, Scott Bogucki. Bumping his career total to seven Series victories, Peck’s winning move occurred on lap 24, diving through turns three and four to slip up and in front of Bogucki by the exit of the corner. Peck showed his nose on a few occasions before earning the point officially, driving on to secure a $6,000 payday in his first-ever Waynesfield All Star triumph.

“I can’t say enough about these Coastal Race Parts guys. They keep plugging away and even when we think we have something figured out, they give me an even faster race car,” Justin Peck said, driver of the Buch Motorsports/Coastal Race Parts No. 13 sprint car. “The bottom really started to clean off and we were able to kinda use that lane to capitalize and get by Bogucki. I knew if I was going to get by him, I was going to have to search around because he was getting a lot better runs off of four.

“I love coming to Waynesfield,” Peck added. “This place is awesome.”

A hard-charging Cole Duncan, who climbed 16 positions during the 30-lap program, chased Peck to the finish, followed by Clauson Marshall Racing’s Tyler Courtney, Rookie of the Year contender, Kevin Thomas Jr., and Wayne County winner, Hunter Schuerenberg.

“The track was starting to clean off and we decided to go back to what we knew that works,” Cole Duncan said following his 16 position charge. “We were right there, but I think we could have been just a little bit better…second sucks.”

While Peck maintained the point, a lot was going on behind him, as the final six circuits would see four podium contenders get caught up in incidents negating all potential for a top three finish. Scott Bogucki and Kyle Reinhardt, who were racing in the second and third positions at the time of the affair, made contact on the front stretch on lap 25 resulting in a caution. Zeb Wise and Cap Henry would also make contact while battling for a podium, again on the front stretch during the first of two green-white-checkered attempts; each driver was forced to retire.

“Hunter Percent” one hundred percent at Wayne County Speedway for second Tezos All Star victory of 2022

ORRVILLE, Ohio (May 14, 2022) - For the second time in four starts, and for the second time of 2022, “Hunter Percent” Hunter Schuerenberg is a Tezos All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 main event winner, accomplishing his recent feat in front of a packed house at the legendary Wayne County Speedway in Orrville, Ohio, on Saturday, May 14.

Schuerenberg, who earned his first All Star victory of the season at Lernerville Speedway on April 29, led all 30 circuits at “Orrville’s Historic Oval,” forced to fend off persistent challenges by Friday night winner and fellow All Star title contender, Justin Peck. Overall, Schuerenberg is now a three-time winner with “America’s Series,” each accomplished in a different state including New York, Pennsylvania, and now Ohio.

“I can’t say enough about how proud I am of this team. Giving Clinton and Danny more responsibility, and taking the wrenches out of my hands to focus more on driving, has been a big game changer for this team, and they’ve proven themselves,” Hunter Schuerenberg explained, ace of the Vermeer Motorsports/Logan Contracting/No. 55 sprint car. “Clinton has been a part of my family since he was ten years old. And he’s a race car driver, too, so he’s very good at understanding what I’m trying to relate. And Danny, I’m not sure I know anyone that likes working with tires as much as he does. He works harder at it than anyone in the pit area. This whole combination is special right now.”

Although Schuerenberg led them all, a caution with two laps remaining would actually stir the pot for Orrville fans, giving Peck one last chance to pounce on the Sikeston, Missouri, native. The ensuing single file restart would ultimately prove to be unproductive for Peck, having to settle for second with Zeb Wise, Parker Price-Miller, and a hard-charging Tyler Courtney in tow. Wise, who started fifth, claimed the final podium spot in the final corner.

At the time of the final caution, traffic was a huge factor, finding the back of the pack for the first time on lap 23; prior cautions on laps three, eight, and 15 would help keep Schuerenberg’s nose clean.

“I would have rather raced through traffic than see that last caution come out,” Schuerenberg added, who scored $6,000 for his win. “I’ve grown to be really comfortable in traffic and I knew with slower cars on the bottom, I could use them as a block and keep others from racing below me. Actually, that caution made me nervous for those last two laps because I was getting so tight through the corners. Momentum changes like that sometimes gives your tires a chance to cool and lose pressure…it all worked out in the end.”

From one Wayne to the next, Waynesfield Raceway Park in Waynesfield, Ohio, will cap the weekend tripleheader with an All Star program on Sunday, May 15. Originally slated for Sunday, May 1, but rescheduled due to Mother Nature, the visit Waynesfield’s highbanks will award a $6,000 prize, giving teams an opportunity to test their limits before returning to the western Ohio bullring during Ohio Sprint Speedweek. America’s Series made two appearances at Waynesfield Raceway Park in 2021 with Kyle Larson and Cole Duncan each earning one triumph.

Justin Peck wins Mace Thomas Classic at I-96 Speedway for $8,500 payday

LAKE ODESSA, Mich. (May 13, 2022) - Monrovia, Indiana’s Justin Peck put on a show Friday night in I-96 Speedway’s annual Mace Thomas Classic, not only securing his first Tezos All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 victory of the 2022 season, but doing so in dramatic fashion, forced to battle through back-to-back green-white-checkered restarts with defending Series champion, Tyler Courtney, hot on his heels. Suffice it to say, Peck withstood the pressures, earning an $8,500 payday in the process while locking down a sixth-career All Star victory. Impressive enough, all six of Peck’s All Star triumphs occurred at different facilities with his I-96 win being a first-ever in the Wolverine State.

“I feel like we’ve had speed all year, but tonight we were able to put it all together. For a while there, we weren’t able to get anything to go our way,” Peck said in victory lane, driver of the Buch Motorsports/Coastal Race Parts/No. 13 sprint car. “I knew with a guy like Tyler (Courtney) behind me that things may get a little hairy, especially with those two late restarts. But luckily, we were able to hold them off. My guys have been giving me a fast hot rod these last few races, so I’m glad to finally be able to get it done.”

Starting from the outside-pole position, Angola, Indiana’s Zeb Wise earned the initial jump, soon entering a tussle with Team 73’s Scotty Thiel, who ultimately snagged the top spot from the third-year All Star on lap three. The “Big Wheel” maintained the point position until lap 14 when Peck, who started third on the A-Main grid, drove underneath the Sheboygan, Wisconsin, native at the exit of turn four. Thiel’s lead was large before Peck took command, but an evil mixture of heavy lapped traffic and an unforgiving turn four cushion got the best of the recent two-time IRA winner.

Once in command, it was relatively smooth sailing for Peck and the “Buch Misfits” entry, that until the final two cautions on lap 29. Courtney, who battled ahead from the outside of row five, did his best to show his nose on each of the two-to-go restarts, but the efforts were not enough. “Sunshine” went on to finish second on Friday evening, followed by Hunter Schuerenberg, Zeb Wise, and Parker Price-Miller.

UP NEXT:
Wayne County Speedway in Orrville, Ohio, will be next on the hit list with a visit set for Saturday, May 14, replacing the originally scheduled stop in Joliet, Illinois. Known for its elbows-up attitude and bullring action, Wayne County, awarding $6,000 on Saturday night, will host the All Star Circuit of Champions twice during the 2022 season with the second occurring during Ohio Sprint Speedweek on Monday, June 13. The lone visit to “Orrville’s Historic Oval” in 2021 was captured by NASCAR Cup Series champion, Kyle Larson, outrunning Zeb Wise and Paul McMahan for a $6,000 Speedweek payday.
