Sam Hafertepe, Jr. Dominates Opening Night Of The Grizzly Nationals At Gallatin Speedway

(July 12, 2019) Several times denied by as much as a single lap at the NAPA of Montana Grizzly Nationals, Sam Hafertepe, Jr. made sure there was no question who was going to win at Gallatin Speedway as the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network point's leader won by a staggering 7.722 seconds on Friday night.

Hafertepe's sixth win on the season, the victory is his first at the Gallatin Speedway, making Sam the fourth different winner at the Belgrade oval. The triumph is also Sam's first with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network in the state of Montana.

Getting his time in SawBlade.com Victory Lane with Adam the Grizzly Bear, Sam was all smiles as the 900lbs Bear made his way to the right rear of his No. 15h, "This is the one race all year that Pam [Hill] wanted us to win so this win is for her, but we had an awesome car. Really, the best car we've had all year," stated Hafertepe.

Battling early with Kelly Miller for the lead, the two traded lines but not positions on the opening laps, which was barely completed when the red lights came on for Scott Bogucki who flipped wildly over the wall in the fourth turn after contact with Harli White while racing for fifth. Bogucki was unharmed, but not able to continue.

Adjusting his line to the cushion on the restart, Hafertepe pulled the field as Miller held off the advance of Matt Covington for the silver position. Finding traffic by Lap 7, Hafertepe methodically picked his way around the backmarkers, while continuing to put distance between himself and the Prevost Racing No. 2jr.

Racing to second on Lap 10 with the help of slower traffic, Matt Covington made little advance on the Hills Racing No. 15h. Still, under pressure from Kelly Miller for second, Covington starting getting some breathing room as the race came to the white flag.

Streaking under the checkered flag, Hafertepe lapped just shy of the top-ten as the race for second turned to Kelly Miller as Matt Covington's right rear exploded off the final turn. Able to limp the T&L Foundry No. 95 across third, fourth went to John Carney II who was challenged several times by Harli White, who settled for fifth.

The night's Hard Charger in a Jimmy Jones tuned machine, Montana's Jeremy McCune picked up eight spots to sixth with Blake Hahn seventh after starting 10th. Trever Kirkland, Roger Crockett, and Tony Bruce, Jr. completed the top ten.

A field of 31 drivers assembled for Night 1 of the NAPA of Montana Grizzly Nationals. Breaking down into four SCE Gaskets Heat Races, with wins going to Harli White, Trever Kirkland, Sam Hafertepe, Jr., and Matt Covington. The night's BMRS B-Feature was topped by Jake Helsel. A Frontier Regional Provisional was used by Damon McCune.

The NAPA of Montana Grizzly Nationals continues Saturday, July 13 at Gallatin Speedway with racing at 7:00 P.M. (MT). Grandstands are $20 for adults with kids 12 and under free. Sean McClelland Is The Man In ASCS Sooner/NCRA Showdown At Creek County Speedway

(July 12, 2019) For the second time in 2019 at Creek County Speedway, the D&E Supply No. 22 of Sean McClelland was the cream of the crop with the two-time champion of the American Bank of Oklahoma ASCS Sooner Region presented by Smiley's Racing Products padding his point's lead this past Friday night.

Marking another win to the ASCS Sooner Region in Friday's showdown with NCRA, the triumph is Sean McClelland's 19th overall victory with the American Bank of Oklahoma ASCS Sooner Region presented by Smiley's Racing Products, putting him one win away from tying Kevin Ramey for the most wins with the series.

Chasing Zach Chappell to start the Pizza Express of Oklahoma A-Feature, McClelland battled with Alex Sewell for the third spot as Kyle Clark gave chase in the runner-up position. Racing for the lead on an early restart, Kyle Clark railed the cushion of the quarter-mile as Chappell maneuvered the hub with the No. 50z able to keep pace.

Watching from the third spot, McClelland made his move to the runner-up spot on Lap 7. Quickly around the bottom groove the following lap, McClelland saw his chance as Zach Chappell adjusted his line up the track; leaving the door open for Sean McClelland to race to the lead off the fourth turn.

A caution just after taking over the lead, Sean pulled away from the race for second with Clark taking the position after Chappell made contact with the wall. Allowing Alex Sewell the run to third, the No. 8 chased Kyle Clark for several laps before taking second on Lap 18. Trailing Sean McClelland by a straightaway, the crafty veteran began moving around the track as traffic came into the mix.

Caution on Lap 19 for Casey Wills, the restart pitted Kyle Clark against Alex Sewell with Clark again going top shelf several times, but with no success as Sean McClelland pulled away.

Catching lapped traffic with two laps to run, the caution flew as the field was set to see the white flag displayed. Able to fend off Alex Sewell on the restart, Sean McClelland grabbed the win by 0.836 seconds. Alex Sewell finished second with Zach Chappell rebounding to third. Layne Himebaugh was fourth with Kyle Bellm racing out of the B-Feature to fifth.

Kyle Clark slipped to sixth in the closing laps with J.D. Johnson in seventh, after starting 13th. Joe Wood, Jr. eighth was followed by Noah Harris from 17th. Tanner Berryhill completed the top ten.

The ASCS Sooner/NCRA Showdown moves across state lines on Saturday, July 13 as both series go head-to-head at 81 Speedway in Park City, Kan.

Jason Howell Rules ASCS Elite Non-Wing At Monarch Motor Speedway

Bryan Hulbert - WICHITA FALLS, Texas (July 12, 2019) Making it a half-dozen first-time winners with the ASCS Elite Non-Wing Series presented by Abilene Powder Coating in 2019, Ft. Worth's Jason Howell picked up two positions in Friday's Monarch Motor Speedway showdown to position his No. 44 in Victory Lane.

Becoming the 26th different driver to top the wingless Sprint Car series, Howell was followed to the finish by Steven Shebester, who slipped back on from his pose starting position. Kade Taylor was third with Paul White and Weston Gorham making up the top five.

Mason Smith grabbed sixth over T.J. Herrell with Cody Carter, Stephen Smith, and Michelle Melton completing the top ten.
