Derek Hagar Knocks Down ASCS Mid-South Win At I-30 Speedway

Bryan Hulbert - LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (July 27, 2019) Making quick moves in traffic for his third Stealth Recover ASCS Mid-South Regional victory of the season, Derek Hagar was the cream of the crop Saturday night at I-30 Speedway for his seventh career win with the Arkansas based tour.

Taking off from the right of the front row on Saturday night, Derek Hagar slipped to third on the start as Brandon Hanks moved from fourth to the lead into the first two turns. Battling with Tim Crawley for the runner-up spot, Hagar built his run for second following a Lap 3 caution but could not hold off the No. 1x of Crawley as the pair traded the spot over the next several laps while Hanks led the way into traffic.

Able to finally secure second, the chase into traffic put the top three nose to tail with slower cars being set up as roadblocks. Sliding for the lead on Lap 12, through the first and second turn with Hanks charging after him in turns three and four, Hagar was able to keep the No. 84 at bay as Hanks was left to battle with Tim Crawley just before the caution flew on Lap 13.

Gapping the field on the restart, Hagar went unchallenged to the checkered flag. Running down the No. 9jr in traffic through the closing laps, Tim Crawley ran out of time to mount a challenge and would settle for second. Brandon Hanks ended up third with Howard Moore coming from eighth to fourth. Zach Pringle followed from ninth to complete the top five.

Jeremy Middleton was sixth with Terry Gray coming from 16th to seventh. Brad Bowden crossed eighth, followed by Kevin Hinkle and Marshall Skinner, who rebounded after brining out the early caution.

The Stealth Recovery ASCS Mid-South Region rolls to green again with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network on August 24 at Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Ark.

Wyatt Burks Pockets $5,000 In G.W. Elkins Memorial With ASCS Elite Non-Wing

Bryan Hulbert - AMARILLO, Texas (July 27, 2019) Getting his second career victory with the ASCS Elite Non-Wing Series presented by Abilene Powder Coating, Wyatt Burks landed in Victory Lane at Route 66 Motor Speedway.

An impressive run for Burks, who has a combined six victories to his name in 2019, the Kansas ace had to best an impressive field of 41 drivers, which began promptly with an eighth to first run in the night's opening heat race.

Rolling to the A-Feature sixth, Burks chased as the field worked into traffic. Choosing to roll the No. 11w around the bottom following a late-race caution was the correct choice as Burks was able to maneuver to the point and land the night's $5,000 payday in the G.W. Elkins Memorial. New Mexico's Colt Treharn was second with Justin Zimmerman picking up two spots to finish third. Zach Gossett had earned the pole but faded to finish fourth with Jason Howell making a run from 10th to finish fifth.

Following in Howell's tire tracks from 11th, Chad Koch crossed sixth with Jarrod Jennings doing much of the same from 13th. Justin Melton from 15th grabbed eighth. The night's Hard Charger after gridding the field 17th was Wichita Falls shoe, Mason Smith who finished ninth with Oklahoma's Joe Wood, Jr. completing the top ten.
