Bryan Hulbert – KNOXVILLE, Iowa (August 6, 2022) Leading it all Saturday night at the 32nd annual 360 Knoxville Nationals presented by Great Southern Bank, 2015 Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour Champion, Aaron Reutzel took his potential earnings to the max with a $30,000 check going to the driver of the Ridge Development No. 8.

Aaron’s fourth career 360 win at the Knoxville Raceway, the triumph is his second on the season with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network and 21st all-time.

“It was early, it wasn’t at the end. We were struggling,” commented Aaron of the car's speed as the race went on.

“I knew someone was probably coming, but that’s how I wanted the race to play out. I just wanted to go green-to-checkered, so I could run in lapped traffic and try to hide a little bit.”

Jumping to the point through the first and second turns, Aaron quickly put distance on the field. Non-stop as traffic loomed near the race’s mid-point, Aaron was unphased as the race through the top five focused on Sam Hafertepe, Jr. Taking the green seventh, the five-time Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series National Tour Champion worked to third on Lap 14. Throwing the slide on Clint Garner, the pair tapped tires but were able to save and keep rolling.

Moving his line around the Knoxville Raceway, Sam began entering low and driving across the turns to the cushion to reel in Lynton Jeffrey. To second on Lap 16, Sam trailed Reutzel by 2.824-seconds.

Keeping his line the same as Aaron Reutzel worked the top at all points, Hafertepe closed a second over the next six laps. Down to under a second with four laps to run, Aaron had company as the pair raced to the white flag. Giving it a shot through turns one and two, the momentum wasn’t enough to deny Aaron Reutzel his just rewards.

Thanking sponsors and crew, Aaron made a point to thank his car owners, “I have to put all the attention on Brian and Lisa Ridge. This is a huge, huge, win for them and they deserve it giving me the opportunity to stay home and race the schedule that I want to race. It’s been a fun year for sure.”

Sam Hafertepe, Jr. in second, was joined on the podium by Clint Garner, who captured the spot with three laps to run. Lynton Jeffrey ended up fourth with Terry McCarl in fifth.

Brian Brown, in sixth, was chased to the line by 12th, starting Cory Eliason with Ayrton Gennetten in eighth. Picking up nine positions and earning the title of JETCO Rookie of the Year, Waco’s Chase Randall crossed ninth. The top ten rounded out with Giovanni Scelzi.

The 2022 edition of the 360 Knoxville Nationals presented by Great Southern Bank saw 107 official entrants. The Saturday alphabet included four conciliation races with wins going to Jett Carney (E-Feature), Colby Copeland (D-Feature), Kaleb Johnson (C-Feature), and Tyler Courtney (B-Feature).

Brian Brown Dominates Night 2 of
the 360 Knoxville Nationals!

Bryan Hulbert – KNOXVILLE, Iowa (August 5, 2022) Getting the lead at the start and never looking back, Brian Brown rocketed the Casey’s General Store/FVP No. 21 into Victory Lane on Mid-Am Qualifying Night of the 32nd annual 360 Knoxville Nationals presented by Great Southern Bank.

Brown’s 18th career win in the 360 division at the Knoxville Raceway, the win ties him for fifth in all-time at the half-mile. The triumph was No. 20 for the Missouri driver with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network.

“It’s good to be here. You know, the 360 Nationals really hasn’t been, well, our final night has been good to us, but our qualifying nights; I just don’t seem like I qualify very well, so that digs us a hole, and we start deep, but everyone on this Casey’s/FVP car did a phenomenal job tonight,” said Brown, who now holds the distinction of being the only driver in the top five in both 360 and 410 wins all-time at the Knoxville Raceway.

Finding traffic by Lap 8, Brown paced over Christopher Thram, who was being pursued by Terry McCarl, as the red lights came on for Davey Heskin, who went for a ride in the first and second turns. Collecting Kaleb Johnson and Kelby Watt in the process, all drivers involved were unharmed.

Back to green, Brown again put time over the field as McCarl went to work on Thram for second. Taking the runner-up spot on Lap 13, Terry worked around the half-mile looking for an advantage, but here no catching the Impact Signs/Rowdy Energy No. 21.

Crossing 4.022-seconds to the good, McCarl in second was joined on the podium by Lynton Jeffrey, who took third with three to go. Christopher Thram ended up fourth, with Clint Garner in fifth.

Working third at the start of the A-Feature, Wayne Johnson slipped back to sixth, with Cale Thomas taking seventh on the closing lap from Kyle Larson, who made up 13 positions for eighth. Tasker Phillips crossed ninth, with Blake Hahn completing the top ten.

With both preliminary nights in the books, Lynton Jeffrey amassed enough points to earn the pole in Saturday’s A-Feature for the first time in his third event appearance. Aaron Reutzel will start to his right, with Clint Garner, Terry McCarl, and Brian Brown making up the top five starters.

Friday’s Mid-Am Qualifying Night had 56 of a scheduled 58 drivers on hand, bringing the total drivers checking in to 107 for the 2022 event. The night’s Driver’s Project quick qualifier was Kelby Watt at 16.422-seconds. SCE Gaskets Heat Races were won by Davey Heskin, Tasker Phillips, Austin Miller, Lynton Jeffrey, and Ian Madsen. The C-Feature went to Clayton Christensen, with the B-Feature won by Kyle Larson.

The 32nd annual 360 Knoxville Nationals presented by Great Southern Bank concludes on Saturday, August 6, with cars on track starting at 7:00 P.M. (CDT). Information on the track is online at http://www.knoxvilleraceway.com. Fans not able to attend can see the Knoxville Nationals on http://www.dirtvision.com.

Sam Hafertepe, Jr. Triumphant In 360 Knoxville Nationals Opener!

Bryan Hulbert – KNOXVILLE, Iowa (August 4, 2022) A slide for the lead, then working to the hub of the Knoxville Raceway, Sam Hafertepe, Jr. captured the opening night of the 32nd annual 360 Knoxville Nationals presented by Great Southern Bank.

The third time the driver of the Hills Racing Team No. 15h has stood in Victory Lane at the famed half-mile in 360cid competition, the win was Sam’s 60th with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network.

“Tonight, we had a really good racecar, and the guys just kept working all night long. We weren’t good in Time Trials, we weren’t good in the Heat Race, but we turned the wick up in the Feature and really got going,” stated Hafertepe.

“I have to thank Miles Hill. Without him, none of these guys could be out here working for us, and this equipment we have it’s unbelievable.

Chasing Thomas Kennedy at the start, the No. 21k paced the opening six revolutions while Hafertepe moved from fourth to the runner-up spot on Lap 5. Quickly reeling in Kennedy, the No. 15h shot to the lead with seven in the books.

Slowed with 13 laps to run as Alex Vande Voort came to a stop just off the front straightaway after contact that damaged the rear suspension, Hafertepe brought the field back to green and began putting distance on the field as the race from second through fifth was all over the track with Garet Williamson taking the spot from Kennedy.

Tracking down the No. 24w with seven to run, Giovanni Scelzi rushed to second and began trying to run down Hafertepe.

With traffic helping to bring the No. 15h back into view, there was no catching Hafertepe, who found the checkered flag waving with 1.906-seconds to spare. Giovanni Scelzi, in second, was joined by Aaron Reutzel, who grabbed up the third spot on Lap 17. Garet Williamson slipped to fourth, with early race leader Thomas Kennedy, in fifth.

Bouncing in and out of the top five, Missouri’s Ayrton Gennetten ended up sixth, followed by Chase Randall from 11th. Matt Juhl, in eighth, was followed by Cory Eliason, with Parker Price-Miller moving from 16th to tenth.

The opening night of the 32nd annual 360 Knoxville Nationals presented by Great Southern Bank saw 51 of the scheduled 53 teams checking in. The Driver’s Project Quick Qualifier was Shane Golobic at 16.299-seconds; however, his night would end violently on Lap 1 of his Heat Race. Shane was ok. SCE Gaskets Heat Races were won by Giovanni Scelzi, Chase Randall, Parker Price-Miller, Corey Day, and Devin Kline. The C-Feature win went to Ryan Leavitt, with Austin McCarl topping the BMRS B-Feature.

The 32nd annual 360 Knoxville Nationals presented by Great Southern Bank continues on Friday, August 5, with cars on track starting at 6:45 P.M. (CDT). Information on the track is online at http://www.knoxvilleraceway.com. Fans not able to attend can see the Knoxville Nationals on http://www.dirtvision.com.

The 2022 season will mark the 31st year of competition for the American Sprint Car Series. Spearheaded by the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network, the ASCS Nation includes Regional Tours that encompass both wing and non-wing competition.
