ATTICA, Ohio (April 15, 2023) - Myerstown, Pennsylvania’s Brent Marks was the man to watch on Saturday evening at Attica Raceway Park in Attica, Ohio, hard charging his way from 20th to score night two of the annual Core & Main Spring Nationals featuring the Tezos All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1. The victory, Marks’ first-ever at Attica Raceway Park and his first of the All Star season, was set in stone on lap 29, powering by Rudeen Racing’s Zeb Wise on the bottom of corner number four. Marks’ tenth-career All Star victory secured him a $6,000 payday.
The Core & Main Spring Nationals victory was the perfect ending to a frustrating evening for the Murray-Marks Motorsports team, forced to qualify late as the result of a late pill, followed by a lackluster heat race performance. Marks would go on to race in the evening’s B-Main; he would ultimately transfer.
“Man, we were really, really good. I hope everyone enjoyed that,” Brent Marks said. “Hats off to my guys. They worked their tails off all night to get this car where it needed to be. A late pill got us behind all night, but that was a lot of fun.”
Marks made his way to a podium spot by lap 27, sneaking by early race leader, Cale Thomas.
“The car worked everywhere I went,” Marks continued. “I kinda had to make some adjustments early on to improve my corner entry. I knew I wanted to get to the bottom as quickly as I could. Running the B-Main is never good but we needed that tonight.”
Although finishing second for a second straight night, Rudeen Racing’s Zeb Wise, who got beat in the final corner a night ago, will leave Attica Raceway Park as the current All Star championship points leader.
“A really good weekend for us, although a little frustrating at the same time,” Zeb Wise noted. “In all, a great weekend. I owe it all to this team. We’re knocking on the door.”
The Tezos All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 will continue their 2023 campaign with a week night visit to Atomic Speedway in Chillicothe, Ohio, on Thursday, May 4. Dubbed The Night the Stars Come Out, the Thursday night showdown, also featuring the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series, will award a $10,000 payday.
