The June 2017 Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series “Driver of the Month”, Devin Dixon, has had an interesting season without a doubt. The driver of the #58 green and black XR1 Rocket Chassis currently leads the Cruise with the Champions Rookie of the Year standings, as well as, the overall points of the Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series. The thirty-four-year-old of Apollo Beach, Florida ultimately owes his success to his consistency thus far this season. Though Dixon has yet to reach victory lane, he has been knocking on the door and in contention for the win at each event. Out of the four races he has entered with the series in 2017, he has brought home three top five and four top ten finishes.

The driver of the Big Frog Motorsports machine believes that competing with the Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series has helped him improve as a driver. “It’s such a great series. The payout is great. We have the opportunity to go somewhere different, to travel and compete with guys outside of the local level, and become a better driver.” Dixon has proven to be quick to adapt, as before competing with the Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series, he had not raced outside of his home state of Florida. In fact, every track Dixon has visited with the Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series has been his first visit to the track.

His ability to read new tracks, and make proper adjustments isn’t luck. Dixon has been in the driver’s seat most all his life. Dixon’s racing career began at the age of nine, where he honed his skills behind the steering wheel of a go-kart. After a successful run in the WKA National Points Championship, Dixon made the move and began racing in the Mini Stock Division. After a season that consisted of nine feature wins, and a Mini Stock Points Championship, Dixon moved up to the Late Model Division. In May of 2016, Dixon began his stint with Big Frog Motorsports team. Since their teaming up,  the team has spent almost every weekend at the track continuing to improve his Dave’s Towing, Big Frog Signs and Graphix, M&W Transport, Ocala Tractor, New Holland Agriculture, Big Frog Shock & Suspension Technology sponsored XR1 to continue his quest for the 2017 Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series National Championship.
