Roberts Survives WoO Double Header With a Smile

MARYVILLE, Tenn. (June 6) For Casey Roberts and the Blount Motorsports Team the WoO Tennessee double header had a rough start at 411 Motor Speedway followed by promising results at Volunteer Speedway.

On Friday night at 411 they were able to get the car better for the feature, but it was too little too late. That combined with a late race wall test, the wall won again, put them watching the end of the race from the pits.

“We weren’t much good to start, so we started way back in the feature. We got the car better in the feature, but weren’t really going anywhere when Casey got into the wall and that was that,” said David Bryant.

On Saturday night for round two at Volunteer they made some changes and by the time the feature rolled out they had a car that for the first time suited both Roberts and Bryant.

“Car was better to start, but still not where it needed to be in qualifying and the heats. We made some more changes and had a good car in the feature. A car that for the first time that both Casey and I liked. Casey could and did run the car anywhere he wanted on the track,” concluded a smiling Bryant.

“The car in the feature was great. I could drive it anywhere on the track I wanted to and it felt good,” said Roberts. “If we would have had a caution or two we might have come away with a better finish, but that didn’t happen. What’s important is David and I were both smiling after the race.”

This weekend Tommy Kerr will be running the Iron Man event at I-75 with Roberts taking the weekend off.

Blake Hahn Remains Consistent With ASCS Red River Region Top-Five Finishes

Bryan Hulbert - MEEKER, Okla. (June 6, 2018) Blake Hahn continues to post consistent finishes in the Griffith Truck and Equipment/Lucas Oil No. 52 with this past weekend's bout with the American Bank of Oklahoma ASCS Red River Region presented by Smiley's Racing Products yielding a pair of top-five runs.

"We were a little off, but not by much. The good thing about running regional shows is we have nothing to lose, so we've been testing different things on the car to see what works, and we've been able to pick up some really good notes over the past two weekend," commented Hahn when asked of his overall thoughts of his past few races.

Starting ninth Friday at Red Dirt Raceway in Meeker, Okla., Hahn's advanced five positions before the end of the 25 lap affair.

"That track races different from most that I've run at. I kind of reminds me of some of the tracks we run in the southwest where you always seem to be combating a layer of silt on the track. That's kind of where we were in the Heat Race, so we tightened the car up for the feature and it made a big difference where I didn't feel like I was chasing the back of the car all over the track. Once we got rolling, I was able to run the bottom and the top, but towards the end, the top was pretty much the only way around."

Fifth Saturday night at Tri-State Speedway in Pocola, Okla. a small mistake at the start cost Hahn at the end.

"I just miss the line there at the start and let a few cars get by. The top was there early, but it faded a lot faster than we thought it was going to and the track was slick top to bottom. It wasn't the best run, but we held on to fifth and learned a lot."

Up next for Hahn is the 2018 Lucas Oil ASCS Sizzlin' Summer Speedweek, which kicks off Friday, June 8 at West Texas Raceway in Lubbock, Texas. In last year's Speedweek, Hahn finished 10th in overall points with a trio of Top 10s and a pair of top-five finishes.

The 2018 season is Blake Hahn's 16th year of racing. Starting in Jr. Sprints at the Tulsa Shootout, Hahn has progressed through the ranks with over 90 victories across Micros, Midgets, and Sprint Cars.
