Brian Brown Excited for West Coast Swing With World of Outlaws

Inside Line Promotions - GRAIN VALLEY, Mo. (Feb. 25, 2018) - Brian Brown is bound for the Western United States to spend the next month competing with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series.

The action begins this Wednesday and Thursday at The Dirt Track at Las Vegas in Las Vegas for the FVP Outlaw Showdown before the weekend concludes on Saturday at Perris Auto Speedway in Perris, Calif., for the SoCal Showdown.

"Our whole West Coast swing is built around our partner FVP," Brown said. "They have a lot of locations along the West Coast. FVP is the presenting sponsor of the World of Outlaws races in Las Vegas and Stockton and will bring employees and customers to the other events along the West Coast so we're looking forward to the next month out there. To go out and meet customers and employees of FVP makes this an important part of our season."

Brown has also been nipping at the bud of scoring his first World of Outlaws victory at The Dirt Track at Las Vegas, where he's earned a runner-up result during two of the last three years. Brown has won a pair of dashes and placed in the top five during four of his last six races at the half-mile oval.

"I think we've been in contention to win at least one night every single year we've been there," he said. "The big half miles suit my driving style. Our Garrett Engines run well when you can air them out at a place like Las Vegas."

This year marks the eighth consecutive season Brown has competed at the track with the World of Outlaws. He's earned at least one top-six result at the oval during five of those seasons. Brown also netted a pair of runner-up finishes during a Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour doubleheader at the track in 2010.

"The unique thing about our sport is it doesn't matter what you did last year or in the past," he said. "You have to go in there and qualify well. That's the key to starting your night strong. Then get through the heat and hopefully that will put you in a good position for the dash.

"With FVP being the presenting sponsor of the races in Las Vegas it adds excitement and pressure knowing they'll have a couple hundred people there both nights to support us."

Brown will wrap up this weekend with an event on Saturday at Perris Auto Speedway, where he's raced during four of the last six seasons. His career-best result at the oval is an eighth-place finish in 2014.

By Fully Injected Motorsports:

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (February 25, 2018) - After a complete washout in Texas, losing potential World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series main event starts at Cotton Bowl Speedway and LoneStar Speedway, the “Myerstown Missile” Brent Marks will hit the road and travel further west, setting his aim on Sin City and Southern California for a trio of starts during a four-day period.

Marks, a second-year traveler with the Greatest Show On Dirt, will kick-off his trio of upcoming events with a visit to The Dirt Track at Las Vegas in Las Vegas, Nev., on Wednesday and Thursday, February 28 and March 1, followed by a stop at the Perris Auto Speedway in Perris, Calif., on Saturday, March 3.

In fact, Marks will spend an entire month in California, participating in eight events extending from Saturday, March 3, through Saturday, March 24.

“We are pretty excited to get to Las Vegas,” Brent Marks, pilot of the M&M Painting & Construction/BAPS Auto Paint & Supply/Eagle Hotel/No. 19, said. “We've been down this road before, but we still know how big of a test the West Coast will be for our team. It will all start in Las Vegas.”

Brent Marks will enter Sin City with one top-ten finish during World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series competition in 2018. The Myerstown, Pa., native earned 23 top-ten finishes in 2017, finishing tenth in the final championship standings.

“I wouldn't be in this position without my family and my supporters,” Brent Marks continued. “We have a strong team and a dedicated group of people who make a schedule like this possible. Our goal is to head west and perform well. Leaving California with positive momentum will be very beneficial.”

Tony Stewart finishes seventh during Battle at the Beach opener at Southern Raceway

Dates: February 23rd-24th
Event: Battle at the Beach
Series: United Sprint Car Series (USCS) Outlaw Thunder Tour
Track: Southern Raceway (Milton, Fla.)
Tony Stewart A-Main Finish (Start):
February 23rd: 7th (12th)
February 24th: 17th (13th)

BROWNSBURG, Ind. (February 26, 2018) - After a week away from sprint car competition to attend the 60th Annual Daytona 500, Tony Stewart returned to the driver's seat of his familiar Rush Truck Centers/Textron Off Road/Ford Performance/Curb Records/Sage Fruit/J&J Auto Racing/No. 14 winged sprint car and entered a pair of United Sprint Car Series (USCS) Outlaw Thunder Tour events at the Southern Raceway in Milton, Fla., on February 23-24.

Already a two-time top-ten finisher against the Georgia-based, 360 cubic inch sprint car series in 2018, Smoke padded his recent racing resume by earning another top-ten finish on Friday night, this time advancing from the outside of row six to finish seventh on a tricky, Southern Raceway surface.

“We had a pretty good night on Friday. I think we had the potential to climb a little higher, but it was a tough track to pass on,” Tony Stewart explained. “When passing points are used to set the main event lineup, you really have to take advantage of every lap you get during a heat race. Unfortunately, only advancing one spot during our heat race on Friday wasn't quite enough and we were buried a little bit for the feature. Jimmy and Marty made some great adjustments and we were able to recover for a top-ten.”

With USCS officials utilizing a passing points system during heat race action to determine the main event lineup, Stewart was forced to start the Battle at the Beach opener from row six, the result of a fourth place finish, after starting fifth, during the second of three heat races. United Sprint Car Series officials utilize a pill draw, held before the each evening program, to determine heat race lineups.

Stewart was on pace to secure a fourth consecutive top-ten finish against the USCS on Saturday night when disaster struck. While racing inside the top-ten during the Battle at the Beach finale, Smoke was caught up in a late-race caution, the result of a competitor driving down on top of Stewart while battling for position, ultimately forcing the Columbus, Ind., native to restart at the tail of the field. A quick recovery allowed Stewart to charge back to 12th, but unfortunately, he would fall back on the final lap, crossing under the final checkers 17th in the running order.

Stewart, who started 13th on the main event grid on Saturday night, earned his way into the 30-lap finale by finishing fifth during his respective heat race, accumulating just enough passing points to start the feature from row seven.

“That kind of stuff happens. We bounced back the best that we could,” explained Stewart regarding Saturday night's caution involvement. “All we can do now is move forward. I'm already excited for our next start.”

Stewart's plans for the next few weeks have not been finalized. News regarding an upcoming schedule will be posted when it becomes available.

Mallett Claims USCS National Points Lead After Charge to Runner-Up Result

Inside Line Promotions - MILTON, Fla. (Feb. 26, 2018) - Jordon Mallett has taken over the top spot in the USCS Series national standings following a solid debut at Southern Raceway.

Mallett posted a pair of top-10 finishes last weekend at the bullring, highlighted by a charge from 12th to second place on Saturday during the finale.

The doubleheader began on Friday with Mallett placing fifth in the dash and third in a heat race. That lined him up on the inside of the sixth row for the main event. Mallett gained a handful of positions to post an eighth-place finish.

"We had all the speed we needed, but that place was so narrow that you couldn't do anything with the speed," he said. "It was one lane and there was no passing."

The team returned to the track on Saturday and the night went much smoother. Mallett powered from fourth to second place in the dash and he advanced from sixth to fourth place in a heat race. While he started the 30-lap A Main on the outside of the sixth row, Mallett didn't stay there long.

"We were right where we needed to be," he said. "There was enough to room to race and the car was right where it needed to be. It was no problem picking through them. We were sitting third by Lap 18 and it took me a lap to clear Wayne Johnson for second."

Mallett had a couple of cracks at race leader Seth Bergman in the final 10 laps of the race, but an untimely caution hampered his bid for the win.

"We had something for Seth until that last caution with a few laps to go," he said. "I was biding my time trying to make sure I could get by him and have him not notice where we were running. I did get beside him as that last caution came out and that vetoed that opportunity. Under that caution the bleeder wasn't keeping up and we wound up with way more air. It was a drastically different car the last few laps. I had to make do and hold on for second."

Mallett did record the Hard Charger Award for passing the most cars en route to his runner-up result.

He is slated to return to USCS Series competition this Friday at Hattiesburg Speedway in Hattiesburg, Miss., and Saturday at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, Miss. Mallett finished fifth and seventh at Hattiesburg Speedway and 11th at Magnolia Motor Speedway last season.
