Gregg Satterlee Visits Victory Lane at Lernerville and Hagerstown
LOLMDS Three-Day Swing Next on the Schedule
INDIANA, Pa. (08/14/23) – Gregg Satterlee visited Victory Lane twice over the weekend with his Satterlee Motorsports No. 22 Keyser Manufacturing / Classic Ink / XR1 Rocket Chassis / Clements Racing Engine Super Late Model.
Satterlee first topped a $2,000 weekly event at Lernerville Speedway on Friday night and then added a $5,100 Nathan Durboraw Memorial triumph on Saturday evening at Hagerstown Speedway as his season-long win total increased to seven.
“We didn’t have the run we wanted in the make-up feature on Friday at Lernerville [Speedway] but after that the rest of the weekend went great. We won the new show at Lernerville and then got the Nathan Durboraw Memorial at Hagerstown [Speedway] victory on Saturday,” Satterlee said. “We’re looking forward to the Lucas Oil [Late Model Dirt Series] tripleheader next week at Georgetown Speedway and Port Royal [Speedway].
Gregg Satterlee returned to Lernerville Speedway (Sarver, Pa.) on Friday afternoon for an event featuring a rain-delayed contest from July 28 plus a full program.
Locked into the fifth-starting position for the $10,000-to-win Autism Awareness Night A-Main from late July, Satterlee faded two spots in the 50-lap affair to finish seventh.
For Friday’s full program, Gregg backed up a heat race victory with an impressive seventh-to-first charge in the 25-lap feature.
He scored the $2,000 payday ahead of pole-starting Michael Norris and Tyler Dietz.
On Saturday evening at Hagerstown Speedway (Hagerstown, Md.) for the 2023 edition of the Nathan Durboraw Memorial, Satterlee secured his spot into the dash with a heat win. Following a fourth-place finish in the dash, Gregg overtook early pacesetter Keith Jackson on lap 22 of the feature and ran away with his seventh win of the season and second in as many nights.
He earned $5,100 for his second-straight victory in the Nathan Durboraw Memorial, which came ahead of Dan Stone, Mason Zeigler, Gary Stuhler, and Jackson.
Full results from the events are available at www.Lernerville.com and www.HagerstownSpeedway.com .
The team now turns its attention to three days of Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) action on August 24 – 26. The swing opens at Brett Deyo’s Georgetown Speedway (Georgetown, Del.) on Thursday, August 24 with the rescheduled $18,049-to-win program as the series makes its debut in the “First State.” Then on August 25-26 the 2023 edition of the Rumble by the River will be held at Port Royal (Pa.) Speedway, where twin $5,000-to-win programs are set for Friday followed by a $50,000-to-win finale on Saturday.

2023 World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series Standings: 6th | 5852 points
Dates: Wednesday through Saturday, August 9-12
Event: Knoxville Nationals
Series: World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series
Track: Knoxville Raceway | Knoxville, Iowa
Donny Schatz A-Main Finishes (Start):
PRELIMINARY: 1st (7th)
FINALE: 3rd (3rd)
BROWNSBURG, Ind. (August 14, 2023) - Donny Schatz nearly made it 12 Knoxville Nationals championships on Saturday night at the Sprint Car Capital of the World, but the Fargo, North Dakota, native was forced to ultimately settle for two spots less, ending the 50-lap, $185,000-to-win Knoxville Nationals finale on August 12 with a third-place finish. The ten-time World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series champion and 11-time winner of the “Granddaddy of them All” started the 50-lapper from the exact same position, fading some before perfecting a rebound late in the main event.
Schatz, ace of the Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing, Advance Auto Parts, Carquest, Ford Motor Company, Ford Performance, MadJax XSeries, Curb Records, Sage Fruit, Absolute Automation and Security, Hunt Brothers Pizza, Elliott’s Custom Trailers and Carts, No. 15 sprint car, locked himself into Saturday’s Knoxville Nationals finale A-Main with an all but perfect performance in his respective preliminary program, starting seventh before eventually running down soon-to-be Knoxville Nationals top rookie, Chase Randall, and winning the 25-lap program. Incidentally, Schatz rallied from seventh to finish second in his preliminary heat race.
“We were kind of hanging there before (the break),” said Schatz. “We could get to the bottom pretty good, and I thought we’d have a chance on one of the restarts on the top and kept pace with him. I was running it for all it was worth, but it wasn’t enough. The racetrack was definitely different than the other night. We just didn’t have enough changes with it. All we did was change tires on the red, and try to make a few adjustments to get better. We just got worse. I couldn’t hold the left rear up for the rest of the race. I was kind of hanging on. We raced as hard as we could.”
As an added note, Kyle Larson, the $185,000 winner, joined Schatz as the only drivers to lead every lap since the feature’s total was upped to 50 circuits.
ON DECK:
Donny Schatz and Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing will continue their 2023 World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series campaign with the 45th Annual Jackson Nationals at Jackson Motorplex in Jackson, Minnesota, on Thursday through Saturday, August 17-19. The week’s finale will award a $25,000 payday.

2023 World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series Standings: 8th | 5740 points
By Fully Injected Motorsports:
CARLISLE, Pa. (August 14, 2023) - Spencer Bayston and CJB Motorsports continued their impressive August stretch with an all-too important and successful display at the “Granddaddy of them All,” ultimately concluding Knoxville Raceway’s coveted Knoxville Nationals with an A-Main appearance, just missing the top-ten with an 11th-place rally after starting 13th. Bayston’s effort in the 50-lap, $185,000-to-win Knoxville Nationals finale followed a top-notch preliminary outcome on Thursday, ending the 25-lapper on the podium after starting tenth on the grid.
Bayston, ace of the TrueTimber Camo, Rothco, JRC Transportation, Nyce Crete and Landis, Ecynbro Trucking, C&S Lawn and Landscape, Kistler Engines, No. 5 sprint car, finished third in his preliminary podium appearance, battling to second at one point before settling for one position back.
Speaking of second, a runner-up finish during Bayston’s preliminary heat race, mixed in with his eventual feature podium, would secure the former World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series Rookie of the Year and Lebanon, Indiana, native with a Saturday A-Main starting position; he was “locked in.”
“An incredible week for us overall. Being able to lock ourselves into Saturday’s A-Main through our preliminary night on Thursday was a huge relief and much deserved for this CJB Motorsports team. Especially after racing from tenth to third…that made for an exciting celebration,” Bayston explained. “This was my very first Knoxville Nationals A-Main ‘lock in’ and it’s something I’ve been trying to do for five seasons. I am so thankful for the opportunity to be a part of this team and having the chance to work under Chad Clemens and Barry Jackson. Their happiness on Thursday night made my entire season.”

Brian Brown battles through B-Main, climbs to 14th in Knoxville Nationals finale |

By Fully Injected Motorsports:
GRAIN VALLEY, Mo. (August 14, 2023) - In all, a consistent effort for “Blackjack” Brian Brown and Brian Brown Racing in the “Granddaddy of them All,” not only securing himself a position in Saturday night’s 50-lap, $185,000-to-win Knoxville Nationals finale, but climbing to 14th in the process, maintaining his position as one of the best to ever wheel at the Sprint Car Capital of the World.
Brown, ace of the Casey’s, FVP, Andy's Frozen Custard, Impact Signs Awnings and Wraps, Mt. Dew Overdrive, HAWK Hunting, Ditzfeld Transfer, No. 21 sprint car, earned his place in the Knoxville Nationals 50-lapper by way of the evening’s B-Main, finishing third in the 22-lap affair to “lock in.” The Higginsville, Missouri, native, who operates his program out of Grain Valley, went on to start 19th on Knoxville’s finale grid.
Brown was forced to start Saturday’s B-Main as the result of his Thursday preliminary effort. The six-time Knoxville Raceway winner this season finished 11th during his respective preliminary main event, acquiring enough points to secure a Saturday B-Main position, but not quite enough to automatically lock into the 50-lap finale.
“Overall, just a decent week for us. We had really high hopes going in, but sometimes things just don’t work out as planned,” Brown suggested. “My guys never gave up. They fought right with me until the end, and that’s what I’m most proud of. We worked and worked and worked…that got us to the ‘A’ on Saturday. Some bad info on my behalf probably kept us from climbing to a top ten or top five, but overall, we are pleased with the outcome.”

By Fully Injected Motorsports:
MITCHELLVILLE, Iowa (August 14, 2023) - Chase Randall’s 2023 Knoxville Nationals effort was enough to turn some heads, not only locking himself into Saturday’s A-Main with a podium score in Wednesday’s preliminary outing, but ultimately concluding the “Granddaddy of them All” by being dubbed the event’s top rookie, eventually notching a 13th-place finish in the $185,000-to-win finale.
Randall, ace of Troy Renfro’s Albaugh - Your Alternative, Iowa Barnstormers, Des Moines Industrial Products, deWit Construction, Jersey Freeze Ice Cream, No. 2KS sprint car, finished second in his preliminary run, starting third on the A-Main grid before capping the 25-lapper an additional position. The Waco, Texas, native would actually lead the program late in the race, forced to go head-to-head with ten-time World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series champion and eventual preliminary night winner, Donny Schatz; Schatz battled by Randall on lap 22.
As mentioned, Randall’s overall preliminary effort, which also included a fourth-place score in heat race competition, would lock TKS Motorsports into Saturday’s A-Main where they started 14th. Although racing on to finish 13th, Randall’s potential was actually cut short, forced to go pit-side as the result of a flat tire on lap 15 of 50; he was racing inside the top ten at the time of the incident.
“We couldn’t be more thrilled with Randall’s effort at the Knoxville Nationals. It was an exciting week and it feels good to know that everyone’s hard work and effort paid off,” Troy Renfro explained. “I’m confident in saying this is just the start for our team. We’ll transfer this momentum into our efforts at Jackson Motorplex this weekend. We’re ready to get back at it.”
ON DECK:
TKS Motorsports and Chase Randall will continue their 2023 campaign with the 45th Annual Jackson Nationals at Jackson Motorplex in Jackson, Minnesota, on Thursday through Saturday, August 17-19. The week’s finale will award a $25,000 payday.

Podium Performance for Rocket1 Racing in Sunoco North/South 100 Finale
COMP Cams Topless 100 Next on the Schedule
SHINNSTON, W.Va. (08/14/23) – Hudson O’Neal led 59 laps on Saturday night before ultimately recording a third-place finish in the 41st annual Sunoco Race Fuels North/South 100 behind the wheel of his Rocket1 Racing / Valvoline / Seubert Calf Ranches No. 1 Ace Metal Works / XR1 Rocket Chassis / Durham Racing Engine Super Late Model.
“We were real good early in the feature and got to lead around lap 20 and led the next several laps. I just got a little too tight right there at the end. Really, in the middle of the race I was tight against the cushion as well. All-in-all we had a good run. We made progress during the weekend,” O’Neal shared. “I am looking forward to going to Batesville [Motor Speedway] next week. I am also looking forward to going back to the race shop and re-grouping after a long couple of months on the road.”
Fresh off a runner-up finish in the 36th annual USA Nationals, Rocket1 Racing and Hudson O’Neal returned to competition with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) at Florence Speedway (Union, Ky.) for a pair of prelims on Thursday and Friday culminating with Saturday’s Sunoco North-South 100 main event.
With the 61-car field divided in two on Thursday, O’Neal backed up the fastest qualifying lap in his group with an eight-lap heat race victory. Earning the pole for his preliminary feature, Hudson suffered a flat tire after setting an early pace for the opening 12 circuits. He rallied from the tail to finish 10th in the 25-lapper.
Vying for another $5,000-to-win preliminary top prize on Friday night, Hudson followed up a second-place showing in his heat race with a seventh-place run in the 25-lap prelim feature.
With results from Thursday and Friday setting the grid for heat races on Saturday, O’Neal outran Ryan Gustin in his heat to pick up the 10-lap victory.
Chasing a $75,000 payday in Saturday night’s 41st annual Sunoco North-South 100 finale, Hudson led laps 22-80 before ultimately crossing the line in third.
He trailed Bobby Pierce and Ricky Thornton Jr. to the checkers with Jonathan Davenport and Daulton Wilson completing the Top-5 finishers.
O'Neal and the Rocket1 Racing team remain second in the latest LOLMDS point standings.
Full results from the events are available at www.LucasDirt.com .
The team now heads to Batesville Motor Speedway (Locust Grove, Ark.) for the 31st COMP Cams Topless 100 with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS).
The weekend opens with a $5,000-to-win prelim on Friday followed by a $50,000-to-win finale on Saturday
